| All-New 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Targets Mid-Size Pickup Trucks with a Fresher Attitude Posted: 19 Nov 2013 10:25 PM PST  GM is bringing back the Chevrolet Colorado after a short break from the North American market. The new model sports a modern look (think something along the lines of VW's Amarok) on the outside that sets it apart from the tougher-looking and bigger Silverado. "The new Colorado's design brings a youthful breath of fresh air to the midsize truck segment and puts a progressive spin on Chevrolet's true-truck styling," said Ken Parkinson, executive director of Chevrolet Design. "It's like the younger, more eager brother of the Silverado – a Chevy truck through and through, with great zeal and a spirit of adventure." Aimed squarely at the likes of the Toyota Tacoma in the mid-size pickup truck segment, the new Colorado adopts many modern amenities inside like the available eight-inch diagonal color touch screen on the center console for the MyLink infotainment system and a standard 3.4-inch diagonal driver information screen in the instrument cluster. Body style configurations will include an extended cab model with a 6-foot bed, a crew cab with a 5-foot bed and a crew cab with a 6-foot bed. According to GM, with the tailgate dropped, the 6-foot bed will allow hauling of 8-foot-long items. Depending on the configuration, the Colorado will offer a payload and trailering capacity of more than 6,700 pounds (3,039 kg). Engine choices start with the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline unit estimated to produce 193 horsepower (146 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque (253 Nm), with approximately 90 percent of the peak torque available from 2,000 rpm to 6,200 rpm. Next up we have the 3.6-liter V6, delivering an estimated 302 horsepower (224 kW) and 270 lb-ft of torque (366 Nm). Both lumps are linked to a standard 6-speed automatic transmission driving either the rear- or all four wheels. A year after launch, GM will add a third powertrain to the range, a 2.8-liter four-cylinder Duramax turbo diesel, which should prove to be the most fuel efficient of the bunch. Output and economy figures are to be announced. The Colorado will be available in three trims, dubbed WT, LT and Z71, with the latter being an "off-road-inspired" model with kit including a gunmetal grille surround, projector headlamps and unique 17-inch aluminum wheels.                                           |
| New Ford Edge Concept is a Couple of Steps Before Production Posted: 19 Nov 2013 09:52 PM PST  What you see in the following pictures and video is a conceptual glimpse of the next generation Ford Edge that was revealed online today ahead of a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Not to toot our own horn, but we should mention that Josh Byrnes' "Future Car" rendering hit the spot giving us a very precise look at how this concept will evolve into a production model in the next year or so. The second generation of Ford's mid-size SUV will have a more difficult task as Ford has made the decision to offer the Edge globally. "The original Ford Edge offered customers in North America a fresh, compelling choice for an accommodating, efficient and safe utility vehicle," stated Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of The Americas. "The next-generation Ford Edge previewed here will build on these cornerstones to create a global vehicle with technology to make life easier, and design and craftsmanship to appeal to customers around the globe." To cater to the needs of a much wider audience, Ford says that it has given the next Edge a "sleeker and sportier" appearance, along with better fuel efficiency and technologies that assist the driver, including a system that parks the car all by itself, and adaptive steering that is said to make steering at low speeds "dramatically easier". No details were provided about the powertrain, but it's almost a given that the production model will use Ford's down-sized Eco Boost engine range.                            |
| New Porsche Macan SUV Priced From $50,895 in the USA Posted: 19 Nov 2013 09:29 PM PST  If you want to sit behind the wheel of Porsche's new compact SUV, the just announced Macan, you'll have to spend at least $50,895 when it hits the brand's U.S. showrooms in spring next year. According to an Edmunds report, that price will get you into the base "S" version powered by a 3.0 liter V6 twin turbo engine that delivers 335PS (340PS) and accelerates the SUV from 0 to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds or 5.0 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package. Your only other option in the States (other markets will get a frugal 255hp 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel) is the top-of-the line Macan Turbo starting at $73,295, which comes with a 3.6 liter V6 twin turbo engine churning out 395hp (400PS) for a zero to 60 mph (96km/h) sprint of 4.6 seconds or 4.4 seconds with Sport Chrono package. Both versions come with standard active all-wheel drive and the Porsche PDK double-clutch transmission.                          |
| New Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO Small RWD Concepts Influenced by Classic Skyline GT-R Posted: 19 Nov 2013 08:52 PM PST  If Toyota thinks it has an ace in its pocket with the classic AE 86 that led to the birth of the successful GT-86, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ coupes, Nissan believes it has an entire deck of cards with the original predecessor of the famed GT-R, the first generation Skyline GT-R from the late 1960s, early 1970s. While not mentioned in Nissan's press content, it's pretty clear that the Skyline GT-R was one of the main inspirations for a nostalgic pair of concepts for a small sports coupe series named IDx Freeflow and IDx NISMO, which made their world premiere today at the Tokyo Motor Show. Looking at these pictures, other cars that may have influenced the design of the study could include the classic Datsun Bluebird 1600 SSS Coupe. The Japanese automaker says that the main object of the two compact rear-wheel drive coupes is to show how Nissan and NISMO can create two very different models from the same vehicle. If you ask us, we've already seen this concept with NISMO's first vehicles such as its interpretation of the GT-R that is also making its world premiere in Tokyo, so we're thinking Nissan may also be testing the waters for a compact sports coupe to go against the trio from Toyota, Scion and Subaru – if not in design, in spirit. The back-to-basics IDx Freeflow is actually quite small measuring about 4.1 meters (161.4 inches) in length, 1.7 meters (66.9 inches) in width, and 1.3 meters (51.2 inches) in overall height. There's no power plant in the concept, but Nissan says it envisioned the car to be motivated "from a powertrain with a 1.2-to-1.5L gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT)". Agreed, that doesn't sound very GT-R, but let's not forget that the purpose of this concept is not to replace the GT-R. The NISMO edition of the study is wider at 1.8 meters and gains a typical race inspired exterior and interior makeover, with bloated wheel arches, side exhausts, spoilers and lightweight 225/40 19-inch tires As for the suggested powerplant, Nissan states: "To meet the high expectations for a powertrain equal to the task of propelling such a formidable car, one proposal from Nissan's engineers is the combination of a high-performance, eco-friendly 1.6L direct-injection turbocharged engine together with a sporty CVT with 6-speed manual shift mode and synchronized rev control." I don't about you, but the idea of an affordable, back to basics RWD sports coupe in a compact package with a more distinct styling than the GT-86/FR-S/BRZ does sound tempting to our ears.                                                                 |
| New Jaguar F-Type Coupe is a Sexy Looking Cat, Starts from $65,000 [73 Photos] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 07:45 PM PST  After seeing the host of official photos of the new F-Type Coupe, we can confidently say that Jaguar has impressed us with its latest creation, even more so than the already available roadster version of the series that was previewed with the C-X16 concept from the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show. Set for a world premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show this week, Jaguar's new coupe model will go on sale in spring 2014, offering buyers a choice of three powertrains, including a range-topping "R" model, with prices starting from $65,000, excluding an $895 destination and handling fee, or $4,000 less than the roadster. The base version utilizes a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 pushing out 335HP (340PS) for a 0-60mph (96km/h) sprint in a competitive 5.1 seconds and a top speed of 161mph (259km/h). For $77,000 (sans D&H), you can step in the "S" model that draws power from a tweaked version of the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 putting out 375HP (380PS). This version reaches 60mph (96km/h) in 4.8 seconds and tops out at 171mph (275km/h). Whereas the top Roadster model gets a 488HP (495PS) supercharged V8, the Coupe gains a high-performance "R" variant priced from $99,000 and equipped with the same 5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine found in the XKR-S and XKR-S GT that's rated at 542hp (550PS). It can go from zero to 60mph in just 4.0 seconds, reaching an electronically limited top speed of 186 mph (299km/h). All three engines are paired to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with full manual sequential control that drives the rear wheels. A couple of other things that caught our attention from Jaguar's press release include the availability of either aluminum or panoramic glass roof panels that are bonded into the main roof structure, with torsional rigidity remaining identical regardless of which roof is fitted to the car, and an optional Carbon Ceramic Matrix (CCM) braking system with 398/380mm (15.7/15-inch) discs front/rear that will be available after introduction. Jaguar also noted that the two-seater model offers "trunk space - easily accommodating two sets of golf clubs - with an available power assisted tailgate". | 2015 Porsche Macan SUV: First Official High-Res Press Photos [Updated] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 09:02 PM PST  While we were waiting for Porsche to do us the honors and unveil the all-new Macan SUV ahead of its LA Auto Show world premiere, we discovered that Italian magazine Quattroroute had already spilled the beans with the first high-resolution press pictures of the car along with some preliminary data. At a first glance, the new Macan looks like a more compact and sportier proportioned sibling of the Cayenne with a more dynamic profile, partly thanks to the lower roofline and the more raked rear window, while the thin taillights also do their part. The interior may as well have been lifted off the Cayenne, as the Macan keeps the same styling and overall dashboard layout. In terms of exterior dimensions, the Macan measures 4,680mm (184.3 inches) long, 1,920mm (75.6 inches) wide and 1,620mm (63.8 inches) tall, compared to the Cayenne that stands at 4,850mm (190.9 inches) long, 1,940mm (76.4 inches) wide and 1,710mm (67.3 inches) tall. The Italian report says that the Macan will launch in Europe with an initial range of three models, including the base "S" with a 3.0-liter force-fed V6 rated at 335hp (340PS) and 460Nm, the "Diesel" with a 3.0-liter V6 diesel rated at 255hp (258PS) and 580Nm, and the "Turbo" fitted with a 3.6-liter turbocharged V6 good for 395hp (400PS) and 550Nm. | New Subaru Crossover 7 Concept May or May Not Preview Tribeca Replacement Posted: 19 Nov 2013 05:54 PM PST  Just last week, Subaru president Yasuyuki Yoshinaga said that the company would replace the unsuccessful Tribeca SUV with a new seven-seater model in the near future. We don't know yet if Subaru's new Crossover 7 Concept that was released today at the Tokyo Motor Show is that car, but you must admit, it sure comes close, fitting the bill. Displayed alongside the new production-intent Levorg estate and the Cross Sport concepts, the Crossover 7 is described in Subaru's press literature as a "seven-seat SUV designed to combine the rigors of urban family use with true off-road driving capability". | Subaru Cross Sport Design Concept Looks Like a BRZ Outback Edition Posted: 19 Nov 2013 05:28 PM PST  What's the first thing that comes to your mind after looking at these first images of Subaru's Cross Sport Concept that is making its debut today at the Tokyo Motor Show? If you want to know our thoughts, we found the concept looking like a BRZ with a shooting brake-style upper part and a tall-riding crossover lower part. That's just our imagination, though, as Subaru hasn't released full details on the study yet. What the Japanese carmaker did tell us is that the study combines "SPORT" and "UTILITY" features offering plenty of luggage space and road clearance, with the concept measuring a compact 4.3 meters or about 169 inches in length. | New Subaru Levorg Concept Previews Next Year's Production Car [w/Video] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 06:13 PM PST  What do you get when you combine the words 'Legacy', 'Revolution' and 'Touring'? Why, 'Levorg', of course, of course. Name playing aside, Subaru's Levorg Concept, which just made its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show today, is an interesting station wagon proposal that will go on sale in Japan in spring next year. We will note that there's nothing really conceptual about the display model as the car looks production ready. At 4,690mm long, 1,780mm wide and 1,485mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,650mm (+30mm over the Impreza), the Levorg sits between the Impreza and the Legacy in Subaru's range. Subaru says that it has designed the Levorg to be both practical and comfortable. The estate model will be offered with two gasoline engine choices, both turbocharged flat fours, the first with a displacement of 1.6-liters, claimed to deliver claimed to output 168bhp (170PS) and 250Nm (175 lb ft), and the second one, with 2.0-liters that is rated for 296hp (300PS) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). The newly developed 1.6L Turbo is paired to a CVT Lineatronic and returns a fuel economy of 17.4km/l (equal to 40mpg US and 5.9 l/100km) on the Japanese driving cycle, with the 2.0L Turbo linked to a CVT Sports Lineatronic and returning 13.2 km/l (31mpg or 7.6 l/100m). Both models come with Subaru's AWD system as standard. Among other features and gadgets that will be offered on the production car is Subaru's next-generation EyeSight lane keeping assistance system that can also control the steering. Joining the Levorg at Subaru's Tokyo Motor Show booth will be various editions of its existing cars, along with the Viziv and Cross Sport Concept vehicles.

| Lexus Shows and Tells More About New RC Coupe Posted: 19 Nov 2013 04:19 PM PST  Just as the 43rd Tokyo Motor Show officially opened its doors that will remain open for the public until December 1, Lexus dropped a more comprehensive set of photos and shared some additional (but not yet full) details on its new RC (just don't call it an IS Coupe, even though that's what it is at heart). The powertrain information concerns the Japanese domestic market model that will launch worldwide in the second half of 2014. In its home market, Japan's best attempt yet against the BMW 4-Series will come in two initial flavors, the RC 350 and the RC 300h hybrid. In RC 350 trim, the coupe sports Lexus' dual injection 3.5-liter V6 lump capable of producing 314hp (318PS) at 6,400 rpm, and peak torque of 280 lb.-ft. (379Nm) at 4,800 rpm, paired to an eight-speed Sport Direct Shift with paddle shift transmission adapted from the IS F sedan. According to Lexus, "in manual (M) mode full torque converter lock up from second to eighth gears allows for down changes in just 0.2 seconds." The milder and more frugal sibling of the RC 350 is the RC 300h, Lexus' first production hybrid coupe. It uses a dual-injected 176hp (178PS) 2.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine linked to a 105kW (141hp) electric motor driven through an electronic continuously variable transmission with six step gears in a sequential shift-matic feature, with the system delivering a combined output of 217hp (220PS). Lexus said that it will offer both rear and all-wheel drive versions of the RC, pointing out, however, that "availability will vary by market". Information regarding the RC's lineup for North America, Europe and other regions around the world will be announced at a later date.

| Prada Sponsors Excellent Vintage Racing-Themed Short Film Posted: 19 Nov 2013 03:47 PM PST  Fashion house Prada was the patron for this short film that puts a satirical spin on the situation of some Italian village folk from 1955 who were waiting for a well-known road race of many miles to pass through their settlement. The event itself is amusingly dubbed "Molte Miglia," basically meaning many miles, and its passing through the usually deserted central town square is cause for great joy. However, one of the drivers, who also seemed to be lagging behind the pack somewhat crashes right into said monument, totaling his car. He's an American driver, but of Italian descent who discovers that his ancestors were originally from the village. It's excellently executed, funny and well thought out, and it's well worth the seven minutes you are asked to dedicate to watching it. Moreover, as is the often the trend with these short cinematographic productions, the ending is very open, leaving each viewer's imagination to fill in the blanks it intentionally leaves uncovered. | 2015 Nissan GT-R is More User-Friendly, Gets Subtle Styling Upgrades Posted: 19 Nov 2013 03:17 PM PST  Besides the new GT-R Nismo, Nissan will also unveil the updated 2014 GT-R (2015MY GT-R in the U.S.) at the Tokyo Motor Show. The refreshed model brings a series of upgrades that give it a more comfortable ride, more refinement and a more upscale interior. The GT-R's suspension has been fine-tuned to reduce load fluctuation between the four wheels, providing better stability and more consistent grip. Nissan has also optimized the electronic control of the shock-absorber valves and modified the front stabilizer spring rates and bush link, giving the car an enhanced road-holding capability. Other updates include the reduction of minute vibrations and road noise, the addition of new Dunlop SP Sport Maxx GT 600 DSST CTT standard tires. The brakes have also been retuned for a more firm and linear response at everyday speeds, making smooth braking more intuitive. Moreover, steering is now easier to use during in-town maneuvers. In terms of styling, the updated Nissan GT-R features new LED headlights with AFS (Adaptive Front lighting System) and a distinctive "lightning" motif, while the four-ring taillights now form coherent circles of illumination. The GT-R also gains a new body color called Gold Flake Red Pearl, featuring microscopic gold-tinted glass flakes infused into the red paint. Nissan also offers an optional carbon rear wing, which is attached to a carbon trunk lid that weighs half than the standard trunk lid. On the inside, the new model year car comes with a choice of three color schemes including a new pale ivory trim option. The steering wheel gets a leather wrap, while the part-aniline leather seats are feature stitched accents. Less noise enters the cabin even at high speeds thanks to optimized insulation and acoustic tuning. | What if Musk’s Hyperloop Covered the Entire US? Posted: 19 Nov 2013 02:45 PM PST  The idea launched by Tesla and SpaceX boss Elon Musk is creating a Hyperloop system that would be able to carry lots of people very quickly from point to point across the US, much in the same way conventional trains do – the difference would be the speed with which this would be achieved. The first route originally envisioned was the one from San Francisco to Los Angeles, estimated to cost some six billion dollars to complete. However, PopularScience has come up with a hypothetical map of what a complete North American Hyperloop network would look like, which cities it would link, and how much shorter commute times would be – they have an interactive map up, featuring comparative information between driving from one destination to another, taking the train there, or using this new third way. Cost-wise, it would apparently be considerably cheaper to build and get running than it would a regular high-speed rail system, and this would also have the advantage of being built above ground, following highways and roads, so as not to require expropriations. Still, the most important and beneficial aspect would be the shortening commute times; San Antonio to Mexico City in 75 minutes, New York to Montreal and San Francisco to LA in 35 minutes. For sure, you might get that sense of disappointment watching the first seconds of this video as the dark grey hatch has already gone under the trench, but remember what we said in the beginning of this post? Captured from the dash-cam of a fellow motorist who had stopped to help out the first distressed driver, a second accident came into light just moments later. You can watch it for yourself in the video past the break, but we will say that, taking into account the oncoming traffic, the second driver should probably feel pleased in the end that nothing worse happened.    |
| Tuner ABT Sportsline Confirms FIA Formula E Entry Posted: 19 Nov 2013 01:25 PM PST  There are only three more spots left on the starting grid for the inaugural FIA Formula E championship set to commence next year. Drayson Racing (UK), China Racing, Andretti Autosport (US), Dragon Racing (US), e.dams (FR) and Super Aguri Formula E (JP) have already signed up and now the series gets its first entrants from Germany: tuner ABT Sportsline; the seventh squad so far. The managing director of the company and racing team boss Hans-Jürgen Abt expressed his feelings on the matter, an interesting turn in the company's history: "We're proud to have the opportunity to take part in the debut of this new racing series. Participating in the new FIA Formula E Championship marks a completely new chapter in our more than 60-year motorsport history… As a company that has been active in the field of regenerative powertrains and electric mobility we're convinced of the series' concept. It's innovative, delivers motorsport at the highest level and a great show for fans around the world – all of which are a perfect fit for ABT Sportsline." The full competition name for the team will mirror that of the outfit's DTM racing effort, called 'Audi Sport ABT Formula-E Team'. They will be taking part in all of the ten races, the first of which is set to take place in Beijing, China, on September 20, 2014, according to the official calednar. Porsche has probably been holding these specs like an ace up its sleeve, surprising everyone with even better acceleration times than previously announced. Following final tuning measures, the 918 Spyder fitted with the weight-optimized Weissach package (-34kg/77lbs) is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.6 seconds (-0.2 seconds), from 0 to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 7.2 seconds (-0.5 seconds) and from 0 to 300 km/h (190 mph) in 19.9 seconds (-2.1 seconds). Notable improvements have been achieved in terms of electrical performance delivered by the hybrid super sportscar too. The standard car's two electric motors on the front and rear axle allow the 918 Spyder to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.2 seconds (in electric mode only) - that's 0.7 seconds faster than before. With the Weissach package, the same electric sprint time drops to 6.1 seconds. The 918 Spyder with the Weissach package currently holds the lap record for road vehicles on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, with a time of 6:57 minutes. The same car has an NEDC-rated average fuel consumption of 3.0 l/100 km (78.4 mpg US) and CO2 emissions of 70 g/km. The standard model averages 3.1 l/100 (75.9 mpg US) and emits 72 g of CO2 per km. | Mercedes-Benz Video Teases New GLA 45 AMG Concept Posted: 19 Nov 2013 12:37 PM PST  Mercedes-Benz's AMG arm surprised us today with the release of a teaser video of a new Concept car, which may not be named in the title, but we can clearly see from the footage that it's the GLA 45 AMG. No word yet on where Mercedes will unveil the production-ready study, however, since we have three international shows going on this week in Los Angeles, Tokyo and in Guangzhou, China, so we could see it in any of the three. Since they are related, the AMG versions of Benz's compact crossover will likely adopt the entire powertrain from the A45 AMG comprising a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four producing 355HP (360PS) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), a dual-clutch seven-speed transmission and all-wheel drive. We'll keep an eye open and bring on the updates as soon as we get them.              |
| Over-zoomed Porsche Macan Photos Real? [Updated] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 12:09 PM PST  'Tis the day of leaked photos, it would seem. After the Jaguar F-Type Coupe, Chevrolet Colorado truck and the Subaru WRX performance saloon, we have the Porsche Macan, or at least we think we do with theses low-quality shots that have been blow up. To find out if they're real, we'll have to wait up until tonight when Porsche pulls the covers of the Cayenne's new smaller brother before the LA Auto Show. The Macan luxury compact SUV shares its hardware with the next Audi Q5, albeit tweaked to suit the needs of Porsche, and is rumored to launch next year with an initial choice of V6 diesel and gasoline engines topped off by a new 3.6-liter turbocharged V6 rated for around 400HP and 550Nm (406 lb-ft). | New 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and 2015 Subaru WRX Revealed in Video [Updated] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 05:39 PM PST  We're pretty sure you'd like to get a sneak preview of as many new cars and concepts possible before the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show kicks off, and thanks to Carscoops' reader Edgar C., we can now share with you the first official image of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado truck and a second, third (we've lost count), view of the 2015 Subaru WRX sports sedan. Both models were shown in an Edmunds video along with other cars we've already seen like the just announced 2015 Mini hatchback. The new Colorado is Chevrolet's mid-size pickup offering for the North American market featuring a different and more modern front fascia, which if we're not mistaken, hosts a "Z" moniker (we can't see it clearly from this angle). As for the Subaru WRX, we've learned that it will come with a 268hp 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four paired to a six-speed manual or an optional CVT. Shout out to Edgar for the submission!       |
| New Jaguar F-Type Coupe Makes an Early Appearance in Scans [Updated] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 11:20 AM PST  A group of scanned photos from what we assume to be an upcoming issue of Germany's Auto Zeitung magazine (if the low quality pics aren't playing games with our eyes) has shed plenty of light on the all-new and promising Jaguar F-Type Coupe ahead of its world premiere tonight at the LA Auto Show. Our first impression is that Jag's new hardtop model is a sleek looking cat that is pretty much identical to the British firm's 2011 C-X16 Concept with only some very minor changes such as the black glass roof, though, this may be an option (frankly, I find the concept's non-glass roof better looking). From the few things were able to read in the article, it appears that the coupe will carry on with the same engine range as the Roadster model, including a 3.0-liter supercharged V6 in 335HP (340PS) and 375HP (380PS) flavors, and the 488HP (495PS) supercharged V8, with the addition of a range-topping 542HP (550PS) supercharged V8 for the more-hardcore "R" variant. We'll find out all the details once Jaguar presents the car tonight. Thanks to 'Rog' for the tip !

| Seeing the Eagle Low Drag GT will Make it Hard For You to Even Blink Posted: 19 Nov 2013 11:14 AM PST  The Eagle Speedster is an amazingly pretty car, unmatched by anything modern you'd throw its way. Calling it the prettiest car in the world is too bold of a statement, but if find it deliciously beautiful. Now, Eagle has just revealed a new model, and it's one that only comes to make the previous sentence even less meaningful… It's the new Eagle Low Drag GT, a custom car based on the Jaguar E-Type Low Drag Coupe (a racing variant), but with a longer and more svelte silhouette courtesy of an extended wheelbase. The original was a looker, but this new interpretation is even better. Its creators call it the ultimate grand tourer, and boast about its extra legroom over the regular low-drag coupe, recirculating air-con and the long-range fuel cell that makes long distance cruising possible. There are performance upgrades that buyers can opt for, including speed sensitive electric power steering (not sure why you'd want that), sports and adjustable suspension riding on Ohlins dampers, full leather trimmed interior and a concealed sat-nav screen. Power comes from the same 4.7-liter straight-six as before, and it sends all its power to the rears through a five-speed stick shift. Performance is irrelevant with the sound note it's capable of producing, coupled with the disturbingly pretty looks, but it will definitely be fast enough for most people – this car is about the experience, not the numbers. Well, actually, that's not entirely true. One of the numbers is important, the price; it stands at £650,000 ($1,050,000 or €777,000). | Acura Details 377HP 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD, Rated at 32 MPG Highway [37 Photos] Posted: 19 Nov 2013 10:40 AM PST  Acura has revealed more details and photos of its most powerful sedan ever, the 377hp 2014 RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD. Set to premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show on November 20, the new luxury sports sedan features Acura's new three-motor hybrid system and an all-wheel drive setup. On sale next spring, the 2014 Acura RLX Sport Hybrid SH-AWD is the first vehicle to use Acura's new three-motor hybrid powertrain technology. The system consists of a 310hp direct-injected V6 gasoline engine paired with an all-new 7-speed dual clutch transmission with built-in electric motor and an electrically powered variant of Acura's torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The electric SH-AWD system on the RLX Sport Hybrid eliminates the conventional drive shaft and rear differential, replacing them with two high-output 27-kilowatt (36hp) electric motors. Itgets a further boost from a 35-kilowatt (47hp) front electric motor that supplements engine torque to the front wheels and provides regenerative brake torque to charge the vehicle's 260-volt lithium-ion battery pack. Thanks to this advanced hybrid powertrain and the instant torque from the high-output electric motors, Acura says the RLX Sport Hybrid sprints from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) as quickly as V8-powered models (no exact figures were released). Fuel economy, however, is comparable to four-cylinder luxury sedans, with EPA-rated preliminary figures being 28/32/30 mpg (city/highway/combined), equivalent to 8.4 l/100km, 7.35 l/100 km and 7.84 l/100 km, respectively. Design-wise, the car doesn't look different from regular 2014 Acura RLX models, but inaugurates new technologies like the Acura electronic gear selector and Acura Head-Up Display System. The former replaces the conventional, center console-mounted shift lever with a push-button array that allows the driver to select the desired drive mode (Park, Drive and Reverse, as well as Sport and Normal driving modes). | Ford Makes 2015 Mustang Reveal Date Official: December 5, 2013 Posted: 19 Nov 2013 10:15 AM PST  No more guessing and following around the rumor mill to learn the 2015 Mustang unveiling date, as Ford just dropped a video on its YouTube channel. While the clip itself is generic and provides nothing of interest (unless you have a thing for zebras), the description that follows it does, as it states that the wraps will come off on Thursday, December 5, 2013. Here's what it says: "On December 5th, Ford will take the cover off the all-new Mustang, the sixth generation of the iconic pony car that will celebrate 50 years in production next year. Ford is counting down to the next chapter in the Mustang story by inviting people to share their photographic stories of inspiration using the #MustangInspires hashtag on Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms.
