See the BMW Vision GT in Action in GT6 Posted: 19 May 2014 06:10 PM PDT With 541 hp sent to the rear wheels and an exterior kit that puts the wide back into widebody, the BMW Vision GT is the kind of car you'd lick clean every night if it were a real thing with you as its owner. It's not, though, unlike the Toyota FT-1 Concept, but like the other Vision models from other manufacturers, you'll only ever get to drive it in Gran Turismo 6 (GT6). Read more » |
We Spy the New Mercedes-Benz MLC in 63 AMG Guise Posted: 19 May 2014 05:29 PM PDT If you check out Mercedes-Benz' passenger car lineup, the only models that do not offer at least one AMG edition are the B-Class and V-Class minivans/MPVs and the GLK. As the brand's sportiest SUV, the upcoming MLC (the name has yet not been confirmed) could not be left without an AMG-badged version to go against the BMW X6M that's due for a replacement next year, and it is this model that our spies nabbed testing in Germany. Ayrton Senna's First Go-Kart and F1 Car Added to Gran Turismo 6 Posted: 19 May 2014 04:50 PM PDT Gran Turismo 6's (GT6) last line of defense against the actual next-gen games is its unheard diversity of cars and tracks. That statement obviously has a big asterisk following it, since not all cars are of the same quality, and yet it's what PlayStation3 (PS3) users must contend with until GT7 comes along for the PS4. Truck Driver Amazing Save; Rig Almost Flipped by Fierce Winds Posted: 19 May 2014 04:03 PM PDT Sudden gusts of wind become more worrisome the higher the vehicle that you're driving is. You drive a Lambo, no problem, but if you're man-handling something at the other end of the size scales, like a tractor-trailer combo, then you may literally be blown away – literally… Read more » |
Mercedes Drops First Exterior Photo and Video Teasers of AMG GT Posted: 19 May 2014 03:35 PM PDT We have fresh news on the upcoming Mercedes-Benz AMG GT, as the Germans just released a darkened image of the exterior along with the first video teaser in advance of its world premiere "in the Autumn of 2014", which points to the Paris Motor Show in October, though, we hear that we might actually get a first look at it in July during the German Gran Prix. Lincoln Offers Virtual MKC Rides with Actor Sam Page as the Driver Posted: 19 May 2014 02:44 PM PDT Lincoln's all-new MKC crossover is crucial for the brand's turnaround. Of course, Lincoln needs an entire lineup of attractive models to stand a chance in today's overcrowded luxury segment, but we can agree it is a start nonetheless. To promote the MKC, Ford's luxury division has set up a virtual test drive platform where those interested can see what the crossover is like to...be driven in. Read more » |

Rugged, Very Cheap Mobius II to Hit Kenyan Car Market Soon Posted: 19 May 2014 12:59 PM PDT According to Mombasa, Kenya-based automaker Mobius Motors' official website, the company "designs, manufactures and sells durable, affordable vehicles for Africa's mass market." Their aim is "reimagining the car" to fit the specific needs of African markets and not be phased by the poor road quality that is still widespread on the continent. Read more » |
Brazen Saudis Drift Dodge Charger at 220km/h or 137mph on Public Highway Posted: 19 May 2014 12:28 PM PDT Saudi Arabia seems to have its house in order, cornering drivers who practice the dangerous art of "Hagwalah" after it enacted strict laws against drifting on public roads in the beginning of the year…or perhaps not, if this video of a Dodge Charger is indeed from the land of hot sands and petroleum wealth… Read more » |
Hamann Shows What it can do With New BMW X5 F15 Posted: 19 May 2014 11:58 AM PDT We apperciated the BMW X5 when we recently drove it, but if there was one thing we felt it didn't need any more of was flashiness. That's why this recently revealed exterior makeover by Hamann is pretty much spot on, since it it's not so overtly in your face as some of their other styling kits. Read more » |
Rare Ferrari-Engined Lancia Thema 8.32 for Sale in Canada [68 Photos & Video] Posted: 19 May 2014 11:27 AM PDT Lancia has become an unrecognizable shadow of itself in recent years and the fact that there was no mention about the brand in the Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles' (FCA) product presentation in Detroit earlier this month, fundamentally spells out the death of one of Italy's most historic automakers. While we're still holding out on an obituary, we did take the time to look up some used Lancia's on the web and found this rare Ferrari-engined 1988 Thema 8.32 for sale on eBay. Read more » |
All-New Rolls-Royce Phantom to Launch in 2017, Could Have BMW i3-Style Architecture Posted: 19 May 2014 10:58 AM PDT The Rolls-Royce Phantom has been with us since 2003 and has only received minor updates in 2009 and 2012. Some would say a new generation model is long overdue, but the truth is the Phantom has dominated its segment so firmly that there was no need for a new model. Read more » |
Peugeot Mulling Three-Door Version of the 2008 Crossover Posted: 19 May 2014 10:30 AM PDT Peugeot is rumored to be considering a slightly smaller, three-door version of its 2008 crossover that would compete with Renault's upcoming Kwid SUV. Positioned below the 2008 in Peugeot's lineup, a three-door crossover version would use a shorter version of the 2008's platform, which means it would be approximately 3,900mm (153.5in) long, making make it about 300mm (11.8in) shorter than the 2008. Mercedes-Benz Says No to an Audi A1 Rival, But Smart is Another Story Posted: 19 May 2014 09:15 AM PDT Speaking to journalists during a media event in Italy last week, Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche reiterated that the A-Class will remain the smallest model in Mercedes-Benz's passenger car range, but he pointed out that Smart could produce a sub-compact model instead to rival vehicles like the VW Polo, Audi A1 and Renault Clio. 1970 Porsche 914-6 with 200+HP 911 Engine is the Boxster’s Ancestor Posted: 19 May 2014 08:51 AM PDT The Porsche 914, or VW-Porsche as it was also known in Europe, is probably the most overlooked model in the carmaker's history. Lacking both the looks and the performance of the 911, the 914 was labeled as the poor man's Porsche. The fact that it was co-developed with VW, with lesser versions even wearing the VW badge in Europe, didn't help its case either. Read more » |

Watch a Jaguar F-Type Crash and Roll Over at South African Hill Climb Posted: 19 May 2014 07:26 AM PDT This F-Type crash from the 2014 Jaguar Simola Hill Climb event that took place in South Africa over the weekend will leave you with your mouth open… We say this because, despite the severity of the accident that saw the F-Type roadster (!) perform a 360-degree flip at speed, amazingly, the driver opened the door, waved to the crowd and walked away unhurt! Next-Gen VW CC Under Development; May Morph from Sedan to Liftback Posted: 19 May 2014 07:02 AM PDT It seems that for some reason, in the last few years, the aura of perceived coolness that hovers around (posh) hatchbacks and shooting brakes has grown considerably, so much so that many of the most desirable current luxury cars are not sedans… Read more » |

Review Finds VW Golf Sportvan is More Van than Sport Posted: 19 May 2014 05:40 AM PDT The current generation VW Golf, the seventh one ever, has received pretty good reviews, no matter which version of the hatch was tested. Basic versions made sense in their own way, and so too did the models higher up in the range. One of the main traits we hear being repeated by reviewers is the way the new Golf drives (it does it very well and with minimal effort from the driver). Read more » |
