| Chrysler 300 is No Match for Swift and Forceful Aussie Riot Squad Posted: 21 Dec 2013 08:05 AM PST  A disgruntled 58-year old former taxi driver sparked a tense situation during a two-hour standoff outside the Parliament House in Sydney, Australia, on Friday, when he parked his white Chrysler 300 and threatened to blow up the building by allegedly lighting two tanks with 20-liters of petrol on the passenger seat and another 19-liters in the boot. Australian authorities took action and tactical operations officers smashed their way into his Chrysler apprehending the man, who has since been identified as Abdula Ganiji, with the entire scene playing on live television. The Sydney Morning Herald said that Ganiji was protesting over a $200 fine he received…15 years and as it turns out, he had gone on a hunger strike outside the Parliament last year for the same reason, demanding at the time that Premier Barry O'Farrell launch a "full investigation" into a dispute he had with former employer Wollongong Radio Cabs. Ganiji was refused bail during a court hearing on Saturday where it was revealed that police found a two-liter fruit juice container, fuel and a cigarette lighter in his car.        |
| More Photos of the Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4, in Silver Posted: 21 Dec 2013 06:42 AM PST  The V10-powered Lamborghini Gallardo replacement is here and it's called the Huracan, named after the fighting bull Huracán of the Spanish Conte de la Patilla breed from the 19th century. The name is better than a-vent-a-door, but as far as the looks go, the larger car pulls off the visual trick better, I think. Now, after countless rendered shots posted, we have the real car for you too, courtesy of Autobild of Germany, the ones we also have to thank for the engine sound sample video too. This official, but low res set of photos, shows a silver car, with part-beige leather interior and a refreshingly simple steering wheel with few buttons and two hefty fixed paddles behind it – the dashboard is miles better than the ageing mess that was the Gallardo's, from these first shots. On the outside, the silver seems to suit it really well and for some reason brings out more of the Huracan's Sesto Elemento inspiration – the details are clearer and crisper in these photos too… Scroll down, check them out, comment, and tell us what you think of it. | Honda Vezel Crossover on Sale in Japan, Could Get Turbo Engine in the U.S. [64 Photos] Posted: 21 Dec 2013 05:10 AM PST  Following the premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show earlier this year, the Honda Vezel small crossover goes on sale in Japan on December 20. While the name may not be carried over to the U.S. and Europe, the car will eventually be available in these markets as well sitting under the CR-V in the carmaker's crossover and SUV lineup. The model is due to launch in the U.S. next year and in Europe in 2015, with Yoshiharu Itai, the crossover's chief engineer, telling Automotive News that the company is considering a 1.5-liter turbo for the States. "We haven't decided yet what model year it will be, but we have that in our plan," said Ito. "We are creating a package so that turbocharging could be installed with this model." Currently, the Honda Vezel is available in Japan with two powertrain options: a 1.5-liter gasoline unit and a hybrid model combining a 1.5-liter direct injection gasoline engine with a high-output electric motor. Honda didn't provide output figures, but said the hybrid delivers "overwhelming high power that is equivalent to that of the 2.0 liter engine", although we don't know what 2.0-liter engine the carmaker is referring to. In addition, the hybrid is expected to have the highest fuel economy in its class in Japan – always according to the release. Real Time All-Wheel-Drive will be offered as an option for all models, with the Vezel Hybrid to be the first ever Honda hybrid offered with AWD. The Vezel boasts a boot capacity of 453 liters (16 cubic feet), enough to hold three regular golf bags, according to Honda. The volume includes the capacity of the cargo box under the cargo room floor for the FWD petrol version. The hybrid FWD model has 404 liters (14.2 cubic feet) of cargo volume. All Vezel variants feature technologies such as Electric Parking Brake and Automatic Brake Hold as standard equipment.
