Posted: 12 Feb 2013 05:11 PM PST

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is so new that it hasn't even reached dealerships, and it won't be doing so until the end of summer, yet we have the first recorded accident, not at GM test facility but on a public road.

To explain, this image, which was discovered by Motorauthority on Digital Corvettes, was posted by forum member named "gpetry", who claims to have received it from a friend in Arizona, just last week, with the following description:

Paging Mazda: The New RX-7 is Long Overdue, Better Build it ASAP

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:19 PM PST

Right now, a group of designers and engineers in Hiroshima are supposedly working on Mazda's next sports car with a rotary engine. Nobuhiro Yamamoto, the company's car chief, let it slip a couple of months ago that a "new RX-7" is on the cards for 2017.

This means it's still four years away. That's an eternity in the automotive world and many things can change until then. Especially those that, as Yamamoto acknowledged, are "not carved in stone"… Well, they'd better be.

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 03:45 PM PST

Scoop: New Mercedes-Benz GLA to be Shown as a Concept in Shanghai

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 02:45 PM PST

Our spy photographers had another meeting with a black-cladded Mercedes-Benz GLA test car in Germany where they managed to snap a couple of shots of the dashboard, which appears to be very similar to that found in the CLA sedan and A-Class hatchback, something we expected since all three cars belong to the same family of models.

On an equally if not more interesting note, CarScoop reader Florian D. forwarded us a document containing Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche's speech at the company's Annual Press Conference in Stuttgart last week.

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 02:02 PM PST

Leave it to company officials (with scripted dialogues, of course) to convince you that what you're seeing is the perhaps most beautiful and practical piece of machinery ever invented in the history of mankind.

BMW's promo videos are no exception to this rule, as you will soon find out for yourself in the clip that was created for the newly introduced BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo.

New Ford Focus RS to Stick with FWD, Reportedly Share a 2.3L Turbo with the…Next Mustang!

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 01:01 PM PST

The horsepower race in the hot hatch segment is heating up, with some models even surpassing the 300HP mark.

Transmitting all that power through the front wheels, though, which also have to do the steering, is a bit too much. That's why the likes of Audi's S3, VW's Golf R and Mercedes-Benz with the A45 AMG have adopted all-wheel drive; even the BMW M135i, which is rear-wheel drive, is offered with AWD as an option.

Passenger Cars Make a Fool Out of a Driver in a Lexus GX 460

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 12:33 PM PST

By all means, the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and its more sumptuous and expensive Lexus GX sibling, are two extremely capable off-roaders that happen to be used, more often than not, on the road as regular passenger models.

However, just because a vehicle is mechanically proficient in tackling the Australian outback, the African bush, or in a scenario like this, Russia's frozen roads, doesn't mean that the same applies to its driver as well.

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 11:18 AM PST

Surprise, surprise; as it turns out, not everyone was stuck at home behind mountains of snow and blocked roads in Boston during this past weekend's winter storm "Nemo".

There was a certain driver enjoying the slippery roads and snow-covered parking lots in an Alfa Romeo – and mind you, not just any Alfa Romeo, but the 4.7-liter V8-powered 8C Competizione coupe.

New Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG Comes with 350PS, AWD and a 7sp Dual Clutch Transmission

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 10:48 AM PST

Photos of the new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG surfaced on the internet today providing us with our first camouflage-free look at the German brand's high-performance hatch, designed to challenge the 315hp (320PS) BMW M135i and 335hp (340PS) Audi RS3.

We don't have the official release in our hands yet, but Mercedes-Benz confirmed the A45 AMG's basic specifications last November.

The hottest addition to the A-Class family of hatchbacks makes do with a heavily revised version of the brand's 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four petrol rated at 350-horsepower and 332 lb-ft (450Nm) of peak torque.

Cadillac Continues Development of New ELR Extended-Range Coupe

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 10:14 AM PST

We know what some of you may be thinking; since General Motors revealed the production version of its Cadillac ELR extended range hybrid at last month's Detroit Auto Show, shouldn't it be ready to go on sale?

Well, it's actually fairly common for automakers to display production models at auto shows around the world without having completed the final development and testing stages. The ELR is one such example, as it will be another year before it arrives in showrooms.

Motor Trend Not Entirely Convinced by the 565HP, US$300k 2014 Aston Martin Vanquish

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 09:43 AM PST

It appears that the limited-production One-77 had a double mission: put some much-needed cash into Aston Martin's coffers, something it certainly did with a price tag in excess of US$1 million, and to act as a test-bed for technologies used in other production models.

The first to benefit from the lessons learned on the hypercar is Aston's DBS replacement as the brand's flagship, the 2014 Vanquish.

Arden Takes on the Jaguar XKR-S Convertible

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 08:22 AM PST

It might come extremely close, but the 488hp (495PS) F-Type V8S still falls behind the 543hp (550PS) XKR-S Convertible went it comes to sheer power and performance numbers.

Aside from improving the engine and making sure that it can handle all those ponies running under the hood, Jaguar also afforded the XKR-S Convertible a distinct look through an assortment of aero parts, special styling cues and alloy wheels, but that wasn't enough for German tuning house Arden that has presented its own take on the drop-top sports car.

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 07:41 AM PST

We won't blame you if, after watching this scene recorded by a dashboard mounted camera, you're wondering what the bleep just happened here. We can try to describe the incident, but don't expect any solid answers.

What we see is an old Lada hatchback with Russian license plates coming to a stop at a red light next to an even older bus. Then, all of a sudden, a man exits the passenger model and goes around to the driver's side of the bus.

At a first glance, it may look like Seat simply removed the rear doors from the regular Leon to create the SC, but the Spaniards made a few more important design changes to the car.

Alfa Romeo 4C Mid Engine Sports Coupe: This is it, The Production Model

Posted: 12 Feb 2013 04:45 AM PST

It's been a painful two years of waiting since the 2011 Geneva study but finally, Alfa Romeo has revealed the first images of the 4C sports coupe that will make its world debut in the upcoming Geneva Auto Show on March 5.

The transition from concept to production hasn't robbed the 4C of its delicious styling, which is all but identical sans some details like the headlamps, tail lights and door mirrors, nor its specifications or dimensions that measure "less than 4 meters" long, 1.18 m high and 2.0 m wide and a wheelbase of "less than 2.4 meters".
