Watch Steve Sutcliffe Drive the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster in Miami

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 08:01 PM PST

Chopping the roof off a coupe is bound to result in reduced chassis stiffness no matter how many reinforcements the manufacturer throws in to compensate. Moreover, those reinforcements add weight, which results in inferior performance.

It's a good thing then that the Lamborghini Aventador's all-new 6.5-liter V12 puts out a hefty 690HP, so the new Roadster is certainly not lacking in the performance department.

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 06:56 PM PST

If your kids are at that age when they want to test their (and your) limits, and at the same time, show an interest in automobiles, keeping your car's keys out of reach might sound over the top, but it could save you and your kid from a lot of headaches.

We all know that children have, and will always be mischievous. One big difference today is that, when they do something they know deep down inside is wrong, for some reason, they make use of modern technology to record their actions, which, of course, usually turns around to bite them in their behinds later on.

Kia Goes Up, Up and Away with Superman-Themed Optima Hybrid

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 02:05 PM PST

It may be comically slower than a speeding bullet, not even remotely powerful as a locomotive, and it will never, ever be able to leap tall buildings, but the Superman-themed Kia Optima Hybrid that debuted at the Chicago Auto Show will bring to mind the "man of steel's" wardrobe with its looks. The Golf Mk7 may be out since last year but its range consists of the so-called cooking models; the hot flavored variants, such as the GTI, still soldier on based on the underpinnings of the sixth-generation C-segment model.

It won't be long before they are replaced, though, as the new car has already been revealed in concept form. To commemorate the final model year of the MK6-based Golf GTI VW rolled out two limited editions at the Chicago Auto Show today.

Kia Guns for BMW with New Cross GT Concept at Chicago Auto Show

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 01:07 PM PST

Whereas Germany's premium carmakers are looking to expand their reach in smaller segments, Korea's Hyundai and Kia are actively flirting with the idea of enhancing their range with more premium and larger-size vehicles.

At this week's Chicago Auto Show, Kia pulled the covers off the new Cross GT concept, which it describes as "blurring the line" between GT sedan study and a luxury crossover vehicle. The reference to the rear-wheel drive GT sedan also has to do with the fact that the Cross GT is based on the same chassis.

Of course, it came to be known as the 911 due to Peugeot having already registered all three-digit car designations with a "0" in the middle, forcing a name change.

Watch an Amazingly Fortunate Russian Girl Escape a Crash Unscathed

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 10:44 AM PST

If there's one thing Russian dashcam videos have taught us, it is that you can never be completely safe as a pedestrian. Walking close or on the road doesn't help either.

Nonetheless, this young woman should feel extremely happy that the only thing lying down on the ground after a reckless driver lost control of his (or her) car are a bag and a bunch of papers.

Redesigned Toyota 2014 Tundra Pickup Truck wants to be a Ford F-150 when it Grows Up

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 07:55 PM PST

The most "American" model in Toyota's lineup is without question, the Tundra full-size pickup truck; and how could it not be since it was designed and built here in America specifically for domestic buyers.

Nevertheless, for all its Americanness, the Tundra hasn't really been able to compete against the country's best-selling pickup for 36 years and best-selling vehicle for 31 years, the Ford F-Series, which sold 645,316 units last year, a 10 percent increase over 2011. By comparison, Toyota sold 101,621 examples of the Tundra in 2012, up 22.6 percent from 2011 when it delivered 82,908 units.

Toyota hopes to improve the Tundra's sales numbers with a heavily refreshed model unveiled today at the Chicago Auto Show. We're assuming you're familiar with the saying, "If you can't beat them, join them", which seems to be the case with the redesigned Tundra.

Toyota Land Cruiser J40(?) Jump Goes Painfully Wrong

Posted: 07 Feb 2013 07:00 AM PST

One of the things that I just cannot accept or understand is why some people continue to refuse to wear their seat belts. It's not about obeying the law for its own sake, but purely for your own safety. Period.

Of all people, the last one you would ever imagine to not wear their seat belt would be someone participating in a race or a dangerous stunt, yet this seems to be the case with a passenger (if we're not mistaken, as it looks like a right-hand drive model) of what appears to be an old Toyota Land Cruiser J40 – or so we think.
