World's Coolest Hit and Park Driver is Just Waiting for his Mate

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 06:04 PM PST

Be prepared for a really, really good laugh everybody; be that with the protagonist of the video, the person recording it from the telly or both…

What you're about to watch here is a cop (it sounds like this incident happened in New Zealand or Australia, but feel free to correct us in the comments if we're wrong) approaching a bashed up blue car that's parked on the grass of a shopping mall, after receiving a call for a hit and run incident.

Rolls-Royce Shows us the New Wraith Coupe's Timbered Door and Dash Clock

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 05:30 PM PST

The truth about the all-new Rolls-Royce Wraith performance coupe is slowly unraveling. After two darkened shots of the exterior, the world's most famous luxury car brand released another pair of pictures, this time of the Wraith's cabin, which it says, "hints at the interior of an ultra-luxury yacht" – not the best use of words for a performance car, even if we're talking about its styling… Read more »

BMW's 4-Series Coupe Promo Sounds Conspicuously German to Us

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 04:54 PM PST

There's a new BMW coming our way next year: the successor to the two-door 3-Series Coupe and Convertible models, the newly named 4-Series. But you already know that since the Bavarian carmaker brought a thinly disguised concept of the coupe to last month's Detroit auto show. Read more »

My Rotary Diaries: Silver Linings and the Midlife Crisis Handbook

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 03:55 PM PST

Nothing seems to scream "midlife crisis" louder than a low-wide sports car. Never mind it's not a Porsche or (heaven forbid!) a Ferrari or that it was acquired used for less than the price of a new city car in entry level trim.

The color doesn't help, either; perhaps a "Galaxy Grey Mica" or a "Sunlight Silver Metallic" would make the RX-8 stealthier but mine is a "Winning Blue", which, for some reason, isn't that common as red, silver or black.

Stereotypes die-hard and, apparently, sports cars are supposed to be a young man's game. Like Jack in Lost, I let the fear sink in, counted to five and then got on with my midlife crisis' toy, a Mazda RX-8.

Spied: 2014 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Looks Like a Small S-Class

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 02:14 PM PST

Finally, the time has come for Mercedes-Benz to peel several layers of heavy camouflage off its 2014 C-Class sedan prototypes, and in doing so, to show us that the next generation of its compact executive car will draw heavily on the looks of the new S-Class.

The similarities in the design between the two differently sized models become more evident once you focus on the shape of the arched glasshouse and rear end.

The styling move might be intentional, as for the first time in its history, the C-Class will have some inside competition from the new CLA, which may be based on the smaller wheelbase platform of the A-Class hatch, but is actually 1.5 inches or 38mm longer than the current C-Class sedan.

Besides its S-Class-inspired looks, the new car, codenamed W205, will use the presence of the CLA to grow in size and approach closer to the E-Class, while also gaining more technological and premium goods.

How can you rear-end a car that is slowly moving in front of you? Pfff, that's easy; just take your eyes off the road for a split second and keep your foot on the gas pedal, which is exactly what this young Asian lady (she could be from Taiwan, but don't take our word for it) did in her green Nissan sedan. Our spies have just nabbed the first ever scoop shots of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe while being driven at one of company's German facilities – notably, with much less camouflage than what you would normally expect for a car seen in this stage of development.

Similar to how the E-Class Coupe succeeded the CLK-Class, the S-Class Coupe will replace the CL-Class flagship coupe models in Benz's range. The CL nameplate was first used in 1996 for the W140 Coupes, which were originally called SEC.

We Ask Toyota and Subaru about James May's Claim that Toyota Gets 90% of GT 86/FR-S/BRZ Production

Posted: 18 Feb 2013 06:32 AM PST

After testing the Toyota GT 86 and declaring it an absolute blast and very easy to drift even when reading a book (!), then handing it over to The Stig for the customary lap, Jeremy Clarkson sat down with the other two Top Gear hosts and discussed the news.

This is usually the less exciting part of BBC's show. A CarScoop reader, who goes by the nickname "Uglydawg69", though, tipped us off that in that episode during the three lads' bantering, James May said Toyota and Subaru have agreed that the former will sell 90 out of every 100 coupes the latter manufactures at its Ota plant located 50 miles northwest of Tokyo.
