Lamborghini Gallardo Replica Based on Dodge Stratus Looks Amazing from "15 Feet Away" Posted: 20 Feb 2013 05:39 PM PST The only thing that's going to make your smirk more than this caricature of a Lamborghini Gallardo is the eBay seller's blatant admission that "at 15 feet away, the car…looks amazing". Get closer than that, and…well, see for yourself in the picture gallery. In all fairness, though, the seller, who is not the creator of the car, acknowledges a number of things, including that he wouldn't want to drive the Sagging Bull clone on a highway at 60mph (close to 100km/h) and that "it's not safe enough to drive on the streets" either. New Audi RS Q3 Proves that it’s Faster than a Dog Sled in Promo Video Posted: 20 Feb 2013 04:59 PM PST If there's one thing future owners of the new Audi RS Q3 can be sure of, it is that the high-performance SUV can outrun and out-handle a pack of Siberian huskies pulling a dog sled on the snow - or at least that's what we understand after seeing Ingolstadt's first commercial for the Geneva motor show-bound model. Early Reveal for New All-Electric Volkswagen Golf-e Mk7 Posted: 20 Feb 2013 04:34 PM PST Volkswagen is expanding its range of Golf Mk7 models with a new pure electric version named the Golf-e, seen in these pictures for the first time ahead of a world premiere at the 2013 Geneva International Motor Show on March 5. The German brand hasn't officially released details yet, but Spanish newspaper El Mundo has more than enough information to cure your curiosity. Read more » |
Gulf Lotus X12 is One Giant Hodge-Podge of Ugliness Posted: 20 Feb 2013 03:33 PM PST As much as we tried, there's no other way to put it; the Gulf Lotus X12 is simply one of the most garish looking SUVs we've ever laid eyes on. While we found many elements from other vehicles, ranging from the BMW-sourced tail lamps, and –inspired boot design, to the Hamann EVO-like vented bonnet and the Hummer or Toyota FJ Cruiser-shaped windshield and front roof styling, we weren't able to decode what car has been sacrificed to offer its platform for the customized body. Rolls-Royce Reportedly Mulling Luxury SUV and V16-Powered Super Roadster Posted: 20 Feb 2013 02:29 PM PST Slowly, but methodically, the BMW Group has expanded Rolls-Royce's offerings since it took over the company's automobile division in 1998. Currently, its lineup includes the Phantom sedan, LWB sedan, Drophead Coupe convertible and Coupe, and the Ghost sedan and LWB sedan models, while at next month's Geneva Auto Salon, it will present the new performance Wraith Coupe based on the Ghost. Watch a Ferrari 458 Spider Stalk a McLaren P1 Hypercar in Traffic Posted: 20 Feb 2013 01:40 PM PST After watching this video, we can't but feel for the McLaren engineers trying to do their work testing or simply driving the P1 under normal conditions and having to deal with all the (justified) attention that comes along with the job. On the other hand, we're also grateful for supercar-spotter and YouTube channel owner Shmee150 and his friend in a deliciously sounding Ferrari 458 Spider for tracking down and filming the pre-production P1, without making any inherently dangerous moves in the process (or at least none that we saw in this video). New and Better Spy Shots of 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Posted: 20 Feb 2013 01:21 PM PST Here's a fresh batch of spy photos of the new Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe that will replace the current CL-Class luxury two-door model at the end of 2014 or in early 2015, as the Germans continue to shuffle up the brand's designations. Mercedes-Benz may revert to the S-Class Coupe moniker that was last used in W140 generation from the 1990s, but the new model won't be just an S-Class with two doors, as it will feature its own distinct styling highlighted by the heavily arched roofline, the padded rear fenders and the lowered front end. Russian Driver Rides…a Honda Accord Sedan Posted: 20 Feb 2013 12:22 PM PST A new dash-cam video recorded by a Russian driver (the date shown in the clip is said to be wrong) just outside the city of Moscow shows what happens when you are in a rush and defy road laws and plain ol' logic. BMW M Reportedly Plans to Stick to Rear Wheel Drive (Ahem…X5 M, Cough, Cough…X6 M) Posted: 20 Feb 2013 11:57 AM PST The news coming from the world's oldest car magazine (yes, that's the same one that had the CarScoop on the Alfa Romeo 4C), is that BMW M's division is committed to rear wheel drive. BMW M boss Friedrich Nitschke spoke to the publication about the matter during last month's Detroit Auto Show: "Our philosophy in regards to steering feel and precision is that rear-wheel drive is the best solution," he said. "xDrive brings an 80-90kg weight penalty and the M differential is the industry's best rear-drive set-up." Read more » |
Audi wants to Double SUV and Crossover Lineup with Q2, Q4 and Q6 Models Posted: 20 Feb 2013 10:59 AM PST Many gearheads and journalists alike have whined and moaned about premium automakers diluting their brands' cachet by developing SUVs and crossovers, but the truth is, that's where the growth is these days. Just look at Porsche and the Cayenne. Compared to its home-market rivals BMW and Mercedes, Audi was late to the party having launched its first entry in the SUV segment only eight years ago with the full-size Q7, which was followed by the compact Q5 in 2008 and Q3 in 2010. What Say You About this Carlex Design-Customized Corvette C6 Interior? Posted: 20 Feb 2013 10:23 AM PST There's no need to tell you that one of the weakest points of the current (and soon-to-be replaced) Chevrolet Corvette C6 is the uninspired and lower-quality than what you would expect from a vehicle in this category, interior. That's something even owners of the car freely admit. If waiting for the new 2014 Corvette Stingray, which promises to bring significant upgrades in this area, isn't an option, the only other reasonable solution owners have is to ask for the help of the aftermarket industry. 2013 Toyota Camry Gains New Soft Touch Materials and Equipment Upgrades Posted: 20 Feb 2013 09:56 AM PST America's best-selling sedan for 14 of the past 15 years, the Toyota Camry, is entering the 2013 model year with some minor enhancements to interior design and comfort, and safety technology. Scoop: 2014 Smart ForTwo Wears a Renault Costume and Goes Out for Testing Posted: 20 Feb 2013 07:17 AM PST As accurate as it may be, the image of the 2014 Smart ForTwo shared by the organizers of the 83rd Geneva International Auto Show on the event's official website earlier this month, was a speculative rendering. These spy photos, on the other hand, are the real deal, though, you'll be forgiven to see more Renault Twingo than Smart ForTwo, but there's a reasonable explanation for that. Read more » |
Toyota Updates its TS030 Hybrid Endurance Championship Racer [w/Video] Posted: 20 Feb 2013 06:30 AM PST This is Toyota Motorsport's updated 2013 TS030 Hybrid racecar, with which the Japanese company will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), including this year's edition of the Le Mans 24 Hours. Shakedown tests of the 2013 car kicked off at the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France on Tuesday and will continue throughout the month, ahead of the first race of the season at Silverstone on April 14. VW Touareg Falling Through Ice on Live Television Looks Laughably Fake, Yet it Made the News Posted: 20 Feb 2013 06:04 AM PST What are the chances of a reporter filming a car allegedly stranded on a frozen lake capturing the moment that it collapses through the ice? We thought so. The video that has been circulating on the internet these past couple of days was allegedly shot in Utterslev Mose, a large wetland and park located in Northern West Copenhagen, Denmark. McLaren Details P1's Powertrain, Features 903HP Plug-in Hybrid, Twin-Turbo'd V8 Setup Posted: 20 Feb 2013 05:20 AM PST As the official debut of the P1 at the Geneva Motor Show is getting closer, McLaren is releasing more info about its new hypercar. After showing it in concept and thinly veiled production forms, and unveiling its carbon fiber cockpit, now the Woking-based company has announced details about its powertrain. To no one's surprise, it is a hybrid just like its rivals, the Ferrari F150 (that's a codename, not the final name) and the Porsche 918 Spyder, which seems to be the way supercar manufacturers have chosen to combine outrageous performance and low CO2 emissions. New Photos of Alfa Romeo Gloria Sports Saloon Concept Posted: 20 Feb 2013 05:00 AM PST Here's a fresh batch of renderings of the new Alfa Romeo Gloria sports sedan concept, which was jointly developed by the Italian automaker with students at the European Design Institute (IED) of Turin, and will be revealed in the flesh at the Geneva motor show in March. Included in this set are sketches that provide a first glimpse at the interior with its four-seat layout and the classic, twin binnacle instrument panel. Read more » |
