Top Gear Goes Rallying with a Bentley and JC Builds the Smallest Car in the World Posted: 05 Feb 2013 07:25 PM PST In case you think the Stig smashing the Ariel Atom's lap record in the Pagani Huayra is the only exciting thing that happened in the first episode of Top Gear's 19th season, you'd better reconsider. If there's one thing we've learned from watching the BBC TV car show over the years it's that you can count on the three hosts to do much more than test cars or hand over the keys of the latest supercar to their tame racing driver for a quick lap around the TG test track. Lamborghini Preparing a Geneva-Bound Supercar that will “Shock and Reward” Posted: 05 Feb 2013 05:26 PM PST This year marks the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and the Italian company has scheduled many events to celebrate the birthday. Perhaps the most important will be a "special model" that company CEO Stephan Winkelmann has confirmed for the upcoming Geneva Auto Show in March. Though Winkelmann wouldn't elaborate, Lamborghini's head of research and development Maurizio Reggiano was more forthcoming: "We want it to be a tribute to the 50th anniversary of Lamborghini and we want it to shock and reward", he told Australia's Drive. Spied on the Road: The 2014 Cadillac Escalade Posted: 05 Feb 2013 04:50 PM PST Cadillac's most expensive model series, the Escalade, is getting old and GM knows it. The numbers speak for themselves with the regular Escalade seeing its sales drop by 16.3 percent last year; from 15,079 units in 2011 to 12,615, the long wheelbase ESV by -3.6 percent to 8,083 deliveries and the EXT pickup truck version by -5.0 percent to 1,934 units. The General isn't sitting with its arms crossed, though, as work on the fourth generation of Cadillac's full-size premium SUV is reaching its end. Read more » |
2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA Order Guide with Option Prices Hits the Web [Updated] Posted: 05 Feb 2013 03:12 PM PST The next big -or shall we say, small- thing coming from Mercedes-Benz to a showroom near you in the United States is the brand's entry in the compact sedan market, the new CLA. We've seen the car multiple times and even know the available engines on both sides of the Atlantic as well as it's starting price in Germany - €28,977 or US$39,400 at today's exchange rates for the 120hp 1.6-liter turbo'd CLA 180. Scoop: Ferrari F150 Sheds Even More Camo, Sounds Delicious at Fiorano Posted: 05 Feb 2013 02:45 PM PST It was about time Ferrari's people got rid of that ungainly front camouflage on the Enzo replacement test car that made it look like a startled catfish. Moreover, with the company having already teased the front and rear end of the car in its magazine, it was unnecessary... Less than a month before its Geneva Auto Show debut, it was also time we saw and heard the F150 (the car's internal code-name) testing. YouTube uploader Marchettino took care of that, as he filmed Maranello's upcoming hypercar during testing at the Ferrari-owned Fiorano track – and as an added bonus, there was also a red Enzo doing the rounds, too. Watch Steve Cropley Ride Shotgun in the New Jaguar F-Type V6S and V8 Posted: 05 Feb 2013 01:35 PM PST The proper sports car Jaguar has been tantalizing us with for more than a decade, only to renege on its promise time and time again, is finally here in the guise of the F-Type, which was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Auto Show. Jag's all-new model is a roadster built around an all-aluminum chassis and will be available with three supercharged engines: a V6 in 335 base and 375HP S guises and a 488HP V8. At least in terms of the pricing, the F-Type is positioned between the Porsche Cayman/Boxster and 911 models. Read more » |
Canada's Anibal Proposes a New Outfit for the Porsche Panamera Posted: 05 Feb 2013 12:06 PM PST The Montreal-based tuning house we came to know by its Porsche 911 Attack package, Anibal Automotive Design, is now looking into a new customization program for another one of Stuttgart's models, the Panamera sports saloon. Named Prestige, the cosmetic aspect of the project is featured in a series of computer generated images in which we see the aerodynamic kit. Read more » |
You Could Say It Serves him Right… Posted: 05 Feb 2013 11:26 AM PST How fast you can or should go with a car depends on many variables, from the kind of road you are traveling and the type of vehicle to the conditions of the road itself and of course, the weather. In other words, you really need to use your head, something that this driver obviously didn't do as speeding on a narrow road jam-packed with parked cars and people walking by during wintertime is just asking for trouble. New Pininfarina SERGIO Concept Car Heading to the Geneva Motor Show Posted: 05 Feb 2013 10:42 AM PST Sergio Pininfarina, one of the most famous automotive designers of the 20th century, may have passed away last July, but his spirit continues to live on through the company founded by his father, Battista "Pinin" Farina (later Battista Pininfarina), in Cambiano, Italy, in 1930. To honor his memory, Pininfarina S.p.A. has prepared a special concept model named "SERGIO" for the upcoming 2013 Geneva Motor Show in early March. Read more » |
BRZ/86/FR-S Coupes Miss on New Forester’s 250HP Turbo'd Boxer Because it Won’t Fit! Posted: 05 Feb 2013 10:08 AM PST Ever since the production version of the FT-Concept(s) came out in the form of the Toyota 86/GT 86, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S trio of practically identical rear-wheel drive coupes, everyone has been asking whether a more powerful version, most likely with forced induction, was on the cards. It made sense as Subaru, which has actually designed the all-new 2.0-liter normally aspirated flat-four with Toyota adding its unique fuel injection system, has a long history of using turbocharged boxer engines in its models. The company's engine design department project team manager, Nobuo Kyotoku, was asked the exact same question by WardsAuto, which named the 2.0L FA (the motor's designation) one of its 10 best engines of the year. The answer was "yes" and "no"… Read more » |
First Appearance of All-New 2014 Toyota Corolla Sedan? Posted: 05 Feb 2013 09:15 AM PST Unlike our previous story with the BMW 3-Series GT, there's no question whether these two pictures of the 2014 Toyota Corolla sedan that surfaced on the web are real. The similarities with Toyota's Corolla Furia Concept car seen at last month's Detroit Auto Show are evident, with the production model dropping the "Fast and Furious" styling bits and gaining a more conservative look all around, including an Auris-like fascia. New BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo Image Real or Photoshop? Posted: 05 Feb 2013 10:46 AM PST You'll have to forgive us for not being sure about the authenticity of this purportedly official image, showing the all-new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo or GT for short and which popped up online on a French forum today. Riding a Bicycle Backwards and Playing with Your Phone; What Could Possibly go Wrong? Posted: 05 Feb 2013 08:02 AM PST The verdict on whether this incident was staged or not remains open, but we're going to assume that you will at least have a laugh or two after watching the video of a bicyclist riding backwards while texting on his cell phone. Naturally, it didn't take long for a scooter (going suspiciously slow…) to appear on the road, and well, what you suspected from the beginning of the clip happened. Read more » |
