Posted: 06 Feb 2013 05:24 PM PST

If anything else, the community here at CarScoop seems hyped about Alfa's return to its roots with the upcoming 4C series.

After one of our readers who attended an Alfa Romeo dealer meeting in Europe shared detailed information about the 4C, including preliminary pricing, production numbers and even the company's plans to expand the range with Racing, Spider and Stradale versions, another reader, Anton Gjorsev, sent us this rendering of the convertible model.

Feast…or Burn Your Eyes on 130 Photos and Videos of the New BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 04:33 PM PST

Chris Bangle has long resigned from his role as chief designer of BMW, but the Munich-based brand with the blue-and-white propeller badge continues to cause controversy with the styling of its models.

We'd hardly call the 5 Series Gran Turismo (GT) a commercial success, yet BMW still has faith in the 'tall liftback' recipe, so it applied the same treatment on the smaller 3-Series range as it races to cover every single niche possible in the premium segments.

According to BMW, "this third body variant of the current model family unites the sporty-dynamic genes of the Sedan with the practicality and versatility of the Touring – attributes that are complemented by a palpable boost in space and ride comfort".

In case you were wondering or simply missed out on our previous coverage when the first images of the car leaked online, the new 3-Series Gran Turismo is actually 200mm (7.9 inches) longer in total than the 3-Series Touring, comes with a 110mm (4.3 inches) longer wheelbase and stands 81mm (3.2 inches) taller.

SsangYong's Ginormous Rodius MPV can Seat up to 11 Passengers! [47 Photos + Videos]

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 03:25 PM PST

It may not really improve upon the image we have about the Rodius in all aspects of styling, but SsangYong's new people carrier will more than impress with its spacious interior that features no less than four rows of seats accommodating up to 11 passengers!

While its world premiere will be held at the Geneva Motor Show in the beginning of March, SsangYong revealed the new generation of the Rodius under the 'Korando Turismo' nameplate today in its home market of South Korea. Besides those two names, the Rodius will also be known as the 'Stavic' in select countries.

Scoop: New Aston Martin Vanquish Loses its Top and Becomes a Volante

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 02:05 PM PST

We all knew it was in the works, but if you had any kind of doubts, we now have proof that Aston Martin is indeed preparing a convertible version of its new Vanquish named the Volante.

Our spies snared a very thinly disguised prototype of the Vanquish Volante in Northern Sweden undergoing winter testing. The only part of the car hidden from view was the boot lid as Aston Martin's engineers had placed a fake cover over the integrated spoiler.

Mercedes-Benz Reportedly Readying New SLC as a Compact Replacement for SLS AMG

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 01:28 PM PST

Last year, both Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche and head of design Gorden Wagener confirmed rumors about a new front-engined, rear-wheel drive compact supercar that would be named the SLC.

At the time, it was thought that the SLC would slot below the SLS AMG, doubling the three-pointed star's supercar fleet. Now, though, a report from CAR magazine claims that the SLC, in fact, will replace the SLS when it hits the market in 2015.

Karma Strikes Down a Driver Attempting to Frighten a Pedestrian

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 05:05 PM PST

Most people are aware that road accidents are an unfortunate part of driving, but in some instances, they may be educational as well.

Take this mindless driver, for example. While traveling on a snow-covered road, the motorist notices a pedestrian crossing the road about 100 or so feet in front of him. What does he do? Believe it or not, instead of slowing down, he slams on the horn and actually accelerates his vehicle!

BMW 3-Series GT Images Leaked Ahead of Official Debut [Updated Gallery]

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 12:47 PM PST

It seems that the image of the new BMW 3-Series Gran Turismo we posted yesterday was legit, as it is included in a fresh batch of official pictures that somehow, found their way out of Munich and onto the web.

Following the example of the 5-Series GT, which started this trend for BMW, the 3-Series GT is a five-door liftback version of the brand's compact luxury saloon aimed at buyers who want a more practical variant of the 3-Series and, for some reason, won't settle with the Touring estate.

New Audi Promo for 542HP R8 V10 Plus with Dual-Clutch Gearbox

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 11:50 AM PST

It might not look like it, but the Audi R8 was launched back in 2006. In spite of being Audi's first effort in the class, it gathered universal praise as a very competent supercar that was also practical enough to be used every day.

Five years ago, double-clutch gearboxes were not all the rage that they are today; even the then current Ferrari, the F430, was sporting a normal automated manual that was identical in concept to the R8's R-tronic offered alongside the six-speed manual.

"Neck Twisting" Lamborghini Diablo Replica Based on an Acura NSX Looking for a New Home

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 11:23 AM PST

For most, the NSX is the Holy Grail of Honda and Acura automobiles, for some, though, it's just a more reliable alternative to the Pontiac Fiero as a donor car.

Well, at least this NSX ended up forming the base for a Lamborghini Diablo clone that was discovered for sale on Craigslist in Suwanee, Georgia, by CarScoop reader Trey W. who did his homework and informed us that it may very well be the same replica we found back in 2010 on eBay.

Nissan Allegedly Looking to Clone Dacia Duster SUV, Looks Like a Mini Patrol

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 10:46 AM PST

A pair of digitally rendered photos showing the Dacia Duster SUV with a Nissan fascia and rear end surfaced on Facebook today. According to the IndianAutosBlog site, the pictures are "3D mock-ups from a design lab" that were intended "strictly for internal circulation and study purposes", but somehow ended up on the web.

While we won't completely rule out the possibility that the renderings may have been made by someone outside the company, given the Renault-Nissan Alliance's past, there could be truth to these photos as many Dacia models are marketed under different brands around the world.

BMW’s M Division Pitches a 600HP M8 Supercar Based on the i8 Plug-In Hybrid’s Platform

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 10:25 AM PST

For a company that produces some of the finest sports cars in the world, BMW is hesitant to go one step further and produce a fully-fledged supercar, something rivals Audi and Mercedes-Benz have done with the R8 and SLS AMG respectively.

In fact the M1, which was produced for BMW by Lamborghini between 1978 and 1981 in just 456 units, is still the only supercar and, at the same time, the sole mid-engined model to sport the blue propeller.

Man in a Fiat 500 Causes a Huge Mess while Trying to Move his Car in Italy

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 08:58 AM PST

Besides being pretty and all, one of the other main reasons why Fiat's 'Nuovo' 500 is so popular in Europe is its small footprint that allows drivers to easily navigate through narrow roads and have a better chance at finding a parking space in crowded cities.

Yet an older man in a Fiat 500 somehow managed to wreak havoc on a street in the Italian town of Cardito, located about 14 kilometers or 9 miles northeast of Naples.

McLaren Teases Production P1, Shows Digital Dash in Pictures and Video

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 06:03 AM PST

With a rendering of the exterior, plus two images and a video of the digital instrument cluster, McLaren confirmed the production-ready version of its highly anticipated P1 hypercar for next month's Geneva auto show.

From a recent private event in New York City, we learned that the exterior of the P1 will remain largely intact, sans some minor changes to the vents of the front bumper and the mesh insert at the rear end, so no surprised there.

This, however, is the first time we see a part of the interior and in particular, the race-inspired digital dash readout that includes a "Race" mode with F1-style shift indicator.

New Opel Adam Rocks is a Faux-Crossover Flavored Concept with a Retractable Roof

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 05:42 AM PST

GM's European division Opel, and subsequently its Vauxhall counterpart in Britain, will try to kill two birds with one stone at next month's 83rd Geneva Auto Show, where they will present the new Adam Rocks Concept.

The study is based on the production Adam, which has been given a crossover-style makeover while also gaining a sardine can-like retractable fabric roof, similar to that found on the Fiat 500C and Citroen DS3 Cabrio, though, in Opel's case, the rear windshield appears to remain intact.

New Suzuki C-Segment Crossover Teased in Production Form [w/Video]

Posted: 06 Feb 2013 05:20 AM PST

After showing us the S-Cross Concept at last fall's Paris Motor Show, Suzuki will now host the world premiere of the final production version of its new C-segment crossover at the Geneva International Motor Show, which will be held from March 5 to 17.

The Japanese carmaker is keeping many details to itself, including the name and the powertrain options, but it did confirm that the crossover will be available with an all-wheel drive option. We also expect Suzuki to offer both petrol and diesel engines, the latter likely sourced from Fiat as part of their partnership.
