Insider: Alfa Romeo 4C gets 240PS / 270PS, Racing, Stradale & Roadster Variants Confirmed Posted: 02 Feb 2013 01:45 PM PST Sergio Marchionne's ambitious plan for the resurrection of Alfa Romeo calls for no less than six new models for launch in the U.S. market until the end of 2016. The thing is that, four of them are earmarked for 2015 and one for 2016, leaving just one model for this year: the 4C mid-engine sports coupe. Thanks to a CarScoop reader who happens to be a Swiss dealer and who attended an Alfa Romeo meeting earlier this month, we are in a position to share several new details about the production 4C that will likely be presented at the Geneva Motor Show next month. Contrary to initial reports that its 1.7-liter turbocharged inline-four could put out as much as 300-horses, Alfa Romeo officials told dealers that its output will be 240PS or 237hp for the base model, the same as in the Giulietta QV from which it is borrowed. Project Growler: Tuner Drops a 6.1-liter Hemi SRT8 into a Plymouth Prowler Posted: 02 Feb 2013 06:19 PM PST In some ways, the 1990s and 2000s will be remembered as the decades that brought retro styling to the automotive world. Among the first brands to exploit the interest in cars with old-fashion shapes but modern hardware was Plymouth with its Prowler. The aggressive looking hotrod with open wheels and an open cabin began its life in 1997 as a Plymouth and ended its career in 2002 as a Chrysler model, after the latter pulled the plug on the Plymouth brand in 2001. The five-seat 2013 Santa Fe went on sale last year with prices starting from $24,450 (plus an $825 delivery and handling fee), and now Hyundai has announced pricing for the LWB version that starts at $28,350 for the FWD GLS and tops out at $33,100 for the AWD Limited, excluding a delivery charge (*) of $845. Game Over for Porsche 911 GT3 RS (?) at the Nürburgring Posted: 02 Feb 2013 07:32 AM PST Losing control and trashing your car on a wall while playing Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport might be fun in a sadistic kind of way, but that's something you never, ever want to experience in real life on a track, or anywhere else, for that matter, even though, truth to be said, statistics are stacked against you… The driver of what may or may or not be a Porsche 911 GT3 RS (it doesn't sound like one, if you want our opinion) was lapping the Nürburgring, accelerating to a speed of close to 200km/h (124mph) when at the Bergwerk corner, the car's rear end starts to slide, possibly after stepping on leaked water coolant. Ferrari’s New F138 2013 Formula 1 Car is Evolutionary Rather Than Revolutionary Posted: 02 Feb 2013 07:27 AM PST On Friday, February 1, Ferrari unveiled the new single-seater with which Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa will fight for the 2013 Formula 1 World Championship. The new car is named the F138, with the first two digits standing for the year (2013) and the "8" for the number of cylinders as well as the eighth season the team is using that configuration. With F1 switching to V6 turbocharged engines, the project 664 (as it is code-named) is a development of last year's F2012 rather than a clean-sheet design. Of course, practically every one of its nearly six thousand components has been revised for maximum efficiency but the basics, such as the suspension layout and the engine, follow the same philosophy.
