Blimey! Watch a British Ford Mustang Driver Plow a Few Trees

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 06:39 PM PDT

Losing control and crashing a tricked out, fifth-gen Ford Mustang all by yourself just after exiting a parking lot during a car meet, is one way to give American Muscle cars a bad name and lead to new jokes about live rear axle suspensions…

As reported by Jalopnik, it all went down on Sunday (March 31), during the Big Breakfast car meeting in Malton, England, when the driver of the cherry-red Mustang coupe came out of the parking and wanted to show off his car's V8-power to the enthusiastic crowd.

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 06:05 PM PDT

As is customary every year, carmakers and the automotive media had a blast with April Fool's Day. There were all sorts of jokes and cheeky stories, ranging from those that were instantly recognizable as April 1st-foolery like Subaru's AWD Convertible Twin-Turbo Diesel BRZ and Callaway's AeroWagonette trailer for kids, to those that required a little bit of thinking before dismissing them as fictitious. Posted: 01 Apr 2013 07:36 PM PDT

We were intrigued when we first heard that Maserati was considering to pull an MC-12 again, and launch a car based on the flagship Ferrari model, the Geneva showstopper – LaFerrari. We were even more surprised when we learnt that it was going to ditch the complicated and heavy hybrid system, and go for a more holistic approach to building a hypercar.

Now, we can get an idea of what it may look like, with a rendering brought to us courtesy of independent designer Anton Gjorsev.

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 12:45 PM PDT

If you thought that what the Subaru BRZ needed was a complicated and seemingly unfeasible hybrid system, then this article will be right up your alley. This BRZ from 'Planet Subaru', a Hannover Massachusetts, dealerships, has been fitted with a composting Methane Fusion Drive hybrid system, which as its name suggests is a very ingenious way to power a sports car – it's exactly what Dr. Emmett Brown from the Back to the Future trilogy would have done, had he been given a BRZ to fettle with. New Peugeot 208 GTi and Ford Fiesta ST Video Reviewed by HonestJohn

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 12:21 PM PDT

As we've stated on several other occasions, hot hatches are a very special type of car. No wonder the MK.I VW Golf GTI and Peugeot 205 GTi made such a mark in their day, because they offered it all for the person who didn't want to give up practicality and space, in the detriment of outright performance, at relatively affordable prices.

This is why the latest Ford Fiesta ST, and its rival from France, the Peugeot 208 GTi are very eagerly awaited by boy-racers, as well as middle-aged men suffering a mid-life crisis on a budget. The financial part is what really attracts buyers, though, and here the Ford comes out on top, because it is the cheaper option in the UK.

STCC-Ready Dacia Logan Racing Car is a Saab 9-3 in Drag

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 09:59 AM PDT

The piece we wrote earlier about the Scandinavian Touring Car Championship- or STCC-ready Dacia Logan, was such an oddball story that some may have clicked it hoping to ridicule the Romanian carmaker' attempt at making a touring car based on their most basic means of transportation.

Most of you will have noticed that the car shown in the photos was unusually long and low, nothing like the Logan on which it was supposedly based.

At the ongoing New York International Auto Show, General Motors pushed the white covers off two versions of the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro, the 426hp V8-powered SS, and a brand-new entry, the track-focused, but street-legal, 500hp+ Z/28 that slots right under the ZL1.

Over the next few months, the bow-tie brand will officially churn out the rest of the Camaro models, including the base V6, the range-topping ZL1, possibly a replacement for the 1LE and of course, the convertible lineup. Dodge Mulling Camaro Z/28 Rival, Barracuda Reportedly Delayed

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 08:14 AM PDT

The unveiling of the Camaro Z/28, based on the latest incarnation of Chevrolet's muscle car, seems to have gotten Chrysler officials thinking. Their Dodge Challenger is currently far too heavy, and they feel that it can't compete with the more modern bow-tie sports car, or the much-improved latest Ford Mustang.

However, according to MotorTrend, a Z/28-challenger may be on its way, but it will require a lot of work on Chrysler's side, in order to make it happen, and to be competitive.

However, the Administrative Center for Defective Products of China (DPAC) has announced that it will be launching an investigation into the use of the material by Audi, Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

It's actually not the manufacturers directly, but rather their Chinese joint-ventures (Beijing-Benz, Brilliance-BMW and FAW-VW).

We've seen so far spy photos of the 2014 Mini hatchback, but what we have here is probably the first clear shot of the interior. The pic was taken by a Reddit user. Range Rover Evoque to be Kept Fresh with Frequent Updates and Get More Spin-Offs

Posted: 01 Apr 2013 06:01 AM PDT

The Range Rover Evoque is a very special kind of vehicle, simply because like the Renault Megane RS, it looks like a concept that somebody allowed onto the public roads. The plush British crossover looks so new and modern, that you'd think the manufacturer would have to tone it down for actual production – for that reason alone, we think the Evoque is a powerful statement of a car to be seen in.
