Cadillac, one of the oldest names in the world of premium automobiles, has had its ups and downs over the 111 years of its existence, ranging from innovations like the first commercially available V8 engine in the U.S. on the 1914 Model 51 and styling revolutions such as tailfins and wraparound windshields in the late 1940s and 1950s, to failures like its diesel adventures of the late 1970s.

After a long period of letdowns, the year 2003 brought about the first modern Cadillac, the CTS, which helped the wreath and crest company enter the 21st century and defined its brand image more than any another effort in recent times.

Daihatsu Baptizes the Toyota Prius V the New Mebius in Japan

Daihatsu, the Japanese automaker controlled by Toyota, has released a rebadged version of the Prius V (sold as the Prius α in Japan) for the domestic market. Ford Releases 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition with Cosmetic Updates

Ford's vision of a sports truck is entering a new model year with the 2014 F-150 SVT Raptor Special Edition that keeps the mechanicals intact, simply adding some unique to this version cosmetic touches.

These include a Ruby Red Metallic exterior color (or optionally, Tuxedo Black Metallic) and box-side graphics on the outside, and 'Brick Red' seat bolsters with black inserts and cloth honeycomb highlights, console top finish panel, and center stack and door panel appliqué accents, on the inside.

When the BMW Group took the decision to electrify and hybridize its automobile lineup a few years back, it wasn't playing around.

Today, the Bavarian carmaker offers two pure electric models (albeit only as a lease in limited numbers as trial cars), the 1-Series-based ActiveE and the MINI E, and several hybrids, such as the ActiveHybrid 3, 5 and 7. Later this year, it will enhance its range with the i3 all-electric hatchback and from 2014, with the i8 hybrid sports car.

The new A 45 AMG and C 63 AMG "Edition 507" are now available to order in Europe following their world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show.

For the 360PS (355 HP) A 45 AMG, the Edition 507 package brings a series of individualization options, including the AMG Night package (€797.30) that comes with a privacy glass, black anodised beltline trim strip, black tailpipe trims in chromed finish, radiator fins in silver chrome, high-gloss black painted finish for front splitter, exterior mirrors, side sill panel inserts and rear apron trim.

2014 Ford Fusion Allegedly Gets New 1.5-liter Three-Cylinder Turbo in North America

The team over at FordInsideNews claims to have laid its hands on the Blue Oval's 2014 Order Form. In the order guide, it is stated that the 2014 model year Fusion will gain a sixth engine for the North American market in the guise of Ford's brand-new 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol unit, which premiered on the sedan's Chinese-market sibling, the Mondeo, just last week.

No output numbers were mentioned for the North American model, but in China, Ford said this three-cylinder engine is projected to produce 177hp (132 kW) at 6,000 rpm and peak torque of 177 lb-ft (240Nm) from 1,500 to 4,500 rpm.

Ford Focus Was the World’s Best-Selling Car in 2012, Says Polk

Ford Focus ranks as the best-selling vehicle nameplate in the world, according to Polk's global new vehicle registration data for the full-year 2012. Sales of the compact car totaled 1,020,410 cars worldwide, according to the automotive data and trends forecasting supplier.

Ford's "global car" recorded market gains in China and the United States, with China registrations up 51 percent last year. Put into context, that means more than 1 in 4 Ford Focus vehicles sold worldwide went to China. In the U.S., Focus sales were up 40 percent in 2012.

GM Restructures Holden’s Manufacturing Operations, Lays Off 400 Employees

Holden announced it will restructure its South Australian manufacturing and product development operations in Melbourne, because of lower demand for the locally-built Cruze compact model.

As a consequence of the restructuring, the Holden Vehicle Operations facility in South Australia will cut its output by 16 percent, from 400 cars per day to 335 by August 1, 2013. This means that approximately 400 employees from the Elizabeth production facility will be sent home. Holden has around 2,200 employees in Australia.

Porsche Rumored to Launch Small-Displacement Turbo'd Flat-Four Within the Year

When you think Porsche and four cylinder engines, images of the rather underpowered 914 spring to mind, and while it was a real Porsche in the way it was engineered, built and its handling characteristics, the quickest version with a two-liter engine could only sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 8.7 seconds. They did get the four-pot formula much better with the 924, 944 and 968, with the latter becoming classics.

Power won't be a problem with the German manufacturer's rumored new flat-four engine, which reportedly is coming within the year, complete with turbocharging.

As we suspected, the photos of the brand-new 2014 Maserati Ghibli sedan that surfaced online Monday night were indeed real, as the Italian automaker came out with an official announcement containing some initial details and a batch of higher-resolution images that allow us to get a closer look at the luxury sports sedan.

Built on a shortened version of the platform that underpins the also-new Quattroporte, the more compact-sized Ghibli is expected to measure less than 5 meters in length or roughly the same as a BMW 5-Series sedan, with which it will compete. Other rivals will include the high-powered versions of the Audi A6 and A7 Sportback, BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and CLS, Jaguar XF and possibly even the 2014 Cadillac CTS.
