All-New 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Sedan Scoops with Barely Any Camouflage

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 05:58 PM PDT

It has had its ups and downs over the years, but Mercedes-Benz's S-Class series has withstood the test of time and every new version that comes out is the car to beat in the full-size luxury sedan segment.

Mercedes won't have it any other way with the all-new W222-codenamed S-Class that was nabbed by our scoop photographers with very minimal camouflage – only parts of the lights, the badges and the boot lid edge are covered up, allowing for a detailed view of the premium model.

Our first impression about the exterior design is that Mercedes went for a much cleaner and dare we say, sportier look for the new S-Class, which loses the chubby wheel arches and fussier details of the current W221 model adopting a swoopy profile that is very similar to that of the new compact CLA sedan, along with a sharper looking rear-end.

There's no need for scoop photos for the interior as Mercedes itself has released a number of official images that reveal a brand new cabin that pairs the latest available technologies such as the huge twin 12.3-inch screens for the instrument panel and the infotainment system above the center stack, with a curved design and a classic mix of high-quality materials and decorative trims.

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 03:19 PM PDT

Truth to be said, the fifth film wasn't that bad so we do have some expectations for the new movie. Now, we already know bits and pieces about Fast & Furious 6 (FF6) from the previous two trailers and interviews, but this new featurette puts it all together while adding fresh footage with explosive scenes and also tells us more about the characters.

Maserati's First Ever Diesel Engine Co-Developed with Ferrari, Built in Maranello

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 01:36 PM PDT

As most of you already know, the recently unveiled 2014 Maserati Ghibli will be available with a diesel engine, the first such unit ever fitted to a car wearing the trident badge.

While the carmaker said the engine will be a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, it didn't go into details, leaving room for speculation about the source of the powerplant. Fiat and Chrysler already have a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel engine supplied by VM Motori that equips the new Jeep Grand Cherokee and the Lancia Thema and may soon be fitted to the U.S.-market Chrysler 300 as well.

Asshat Audi R8 Driver is Just Asking to be Rammed by Mazda3

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 11:56 AM PDT

If we told you that, there was a fairly new, and evidently, very expensive Audi R8 sports coupe, and a mainstream Mazda3 on a city road, and that one of the two drivers was provoking the other one, performing dangerous moves, who would you think that would be?

Understandably, most would say that the Audi R8 driver would be the victim and the person behind the wheel of the Mazda3 the perpetrator. Well, if you made those choices, you're wrong because the exact opposite occurred in this incident from St. Petersburg, Russia.

Peugeot has finally revealed technical specs of its 208 T16 Pikes Peak car, which will be driven by rally legend Sébastien Loeb in the "Race to the Clouds" climb on June 30. Its mid-mounted engine is a bi-turbo V6 derived from the unit in the Peugeot 908 endurance car and develops 875 horsepower - more than a Formula 1 car can brag about. To put it into context, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak tips the scales at 875 kilograms (1,929 pounds), which means the car has an outstanding power-to-weight ratio of 1 horsepower per kilogram!

VW Has Us…Sold with This Image of the New Passat Wolfsburg Edition

The internet is as much as a visual medium as it is a textual one, and this applies even more so when you're referring to a new product – what's the use in announcing it without showing it?

Obviously, Volkswagen knows better, which is probably why it accompanied the announcement on the new U.S. market 2013 Passat Wolfsburg Edition with a single picture that only shows the special edition's logo.

Ouch…Russian Traffic Officer Stops Motorcyclist with His Face

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 07:36 AM PDT

We're all for police officers pulling over motorcyclists who drive on the opposite side of the road to unlawfully bypass traffic on regular lanes, but one should always practice some common sense in these cases.

Jumping out from a line of stationary cars like a jack-in-a-box and waving a baton to a scooter rider who is approaching at speed, is neither clever nor particularly safe…

Coachbuilt Maserati Merak with Alloy Body by Saurer Hits the Auction Block

Posted: 23 Apr 2013 06:25 AM PDT

Here's a very different flashback from the 1980s, though, the story of this one-off, Maserati Merak that was coachbuilt by Swiss-based Carrosserie Saurer, began in the previous decade when the Italian firm was still under the ownership of Citroën (1968–1975).

Only a year after presenting the V8-powered Bora in 1971, Maserati followed-up with the introduction of the smaller Merak, designed to compete against Ferrari's Dino 246. The Merak was fitted with a rear-mid mounted 190bhp 3.0-liter four-cam V6, a smaller displacement version of which was used in the Citroën SM. The 150mph (241km/h) Italian sports car remained in production until 1983 after 1,832 units had been built.
