Fast & Furious 6 Trailer Parody with Radio-Controlled Scale Models

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 05:57 PM PDT

While the cast from the upcoming Need for Speed movie just started filming this week in California, Former FBI agent turned-to-street racer Brian O'Conner and his fugitive friend Dominic Toretto, played by Paul Walker and Vin Diesel respectively, are counting down the days until the sixth installment of the fuel-injected Fast & Furious hits theaters on May 24.

We already know about the screenplay and have seen the official trailer that was released during this year's Super Bowl XVLII in February. As with most installments of the Fast & Furious franchise, this one too is bound to ignite several parodies, the first, or at least one of the first we've seen, is this one from radio-controlled (RC) vehicle specialist and retail seller NitroRCX.

Poll: Has The Facelift Done The Trick for the Porsche Panamera?

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 06:04 PM PDT

When I first saw the Panamera Sport Turismo Concept, I was very pleased to see that the next incarnation of the Porsche sedan was going to stop being disproportionate (especially at the back), and start being handsome like it should have been all along. However, now that the facelift has been revealed, we have something to ease the wait for the completely new version, which is due around 2015 or 2016.

What we are left to contend with until then is the recently unveiled 2014 model-, which I believe has helped the Panamera rid itself of some of the awkward styling cues.

BMW Head of Design Karim Habib Explains Brand's Core Values

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 03:07 PM PDT

If you ask me, BMW has done very well in choosing Karim Habib as the coordinating force behind their design department. A BMW Group employee since 1998, he worked in the design department for 10 years, before moving to Mercedes-Benz for almost two years, then rejoining BMW in 2010.

I say they did well in choosing him, because he seems like a very knowledgeable and passionate designer, if we are to judge him from his appearance in the video you see below.

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 02:12 PM PDT

Ever heard of a Bitcoin? Apparently, it's the most widely used alternative currency, entirely digital and based on an open-source, peer-to-peer protocol. Introduced in 2009, the Bitcoin has gained ground ever since and exploded approximately two weeks ago with the banking crisis in Cyprus.

As of March 2013, Bitcoins have reached a monetary base of $1.28 billion, with 11 million of them in circulation. Their number will continue to grow until 21 million Bitcoins are in circulation. The digital currency isn't regulated by a central bank and all transactions are peer-to-peer.

That's Not Tiger Woods, and That's Not a Golf Course...

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 01:04 PM PDT

A golf club is not really ideal to have around in your car as a weapon – it is clearly not as popular as the baseball bat, for instance… This is actually the first enraged Russian driver we've seen wielding one of these, so we were curious as to what the outcome of this particular altercation would be. Posted: 05 Apr 2013 12:09 PM PDT

The automotive sector in Europe has been hard-hit by the failing continental economy, with all manufacturers announcing some form of measures designed to alleviate the extra strain put on their operations. Factories are closing down, dealers are going out of business and people are buying less new metal than they did a few years back, and the new cars they are turning to are cheaper and smaller than most would have preferred. New McLaren P1 Spotted at Movie Set for Upcoming Need For Speed Film!

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 10:59 AM PDT

Does the world need another car movie franchise after the long-running Fast & Furious series, the sixth installment of which opens next month, while a seventh (!) film has been fast-tracked for a summer 2014 release?

Well, as they say, it all depends on whom you ask and, naturally, how good the movie is. You can't answer the latter unless you've seen it, but we can tell you that as car enthusiasts, you can count us in for being interested, especially if we're talking about exotics like the McLaren P1

Peugeot RCZ Races Mountain Bike and –Of Course- Wins in New Promo Video

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 10:00 AM PDT

Nobody ever denied Peugeot the satisfaction of hearing that they have done a great job styling the RCZ. However, it seems that their standards for driving dynamics have sunk so low in recent years, that when all is said and done, it still just drives like a stiffened up 308 hatch.

The steering is inert, and if you go for the diesel (not really recommended on this car), the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) will dull the throttle response so much, that coupled with a bit of turbo lag, the only real engine option you are left for is the top 1.6 turbo petrol.

Spy Shots: 2014 Ford C-MAX Looks Like it will be Getting the Full Aston Martin Grille

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 09:05 AM PDT

Not that most of the front grilles found on numerous current Ford models don't already hold a strong resemblance to the classic six-point Aston Martin front piece, but the Blue Oval seems hell-bent to make sure we don't have any doubts about that assessment….

After the new North American Fusion, known in the rest of the world as the latest Mondeo, and the facelifted Fiesta, Ford is working on refresh of the front end of the C-MAX, while we will remind you that our spies also recently captured a prototype of the Focus hatchback with its front end masked up (though, as we pointed out at the time, it could be a mule for the RS).

"Lost in Thought" Drivers Cause More Accidents than Those Using Mobile Phones, Says Study

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 08:46 AM PDT

Latest police data in the United States reveal some surprising statistics. It seems that the use of mobile phones while driving, blamed by many as one of the leading causes of traffic accidents, is not as harmful as being "lost in thought" or simply put, daydreaming.

Ten percent of fatal auto accidents in the States involved at least one motorist who was distracted, according to a statement by Erie Insurance Group that analyzed 2010 and 2011 national crash data from NHTSA's Fatality Analysis Reporting System. The causes of the distraction in 62 percent of the cases was daydreaming and being "lost in thought", with mobile phone use being blamed in only 12 percent of the accidents caused by distracted drivers.

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 08:20 AM PDT

There are many surprises one can experience while driving their vehicle on the road – from pleasant ones, such as stumbling upon rare exotic examples from the automobile world or beautiful scenery and people, to nasty ones like an accident.

For this poor motorist, the surprise came in the form of another car that lost control (or was hit, we can't see from this angle), and crashed into the curb before heading his or her way.

Ken Block Kills Some Cones in a Ford Sierra Estate

Posted: 05 Apr 2013 07:15 AM PDT

The recently launched English version of Totalcar from Hungary is trying to make itself known, and now it has managed to get onto our radar, thanks to a name that needs no introduction – Ken Block. However, in the video they shot, Ken doesn't drive his usual all-wheel drive monsters, as the car the organizers had lined up was far older and more rudimentary – a 1991 Ford Sierra estate, with a welded differential, sturdier suspension from a Mercedes-Benz and a 2.9-liter V6 under the bonnet. Japanese carmakers may have been the ones to kick start the SUV and crossover craze in the mainstream segments, but it's the Germans that applied the recipe in the premium categories, leaving the former to simply follow in their footsteps.

Lexus currently offers three SUVs, the popular RX (pictured above), now in its third generation with both hybrid and regular engine offerings, and the larger GX and LX that are related to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Land Cruiser 200 Series respectively.
