Subaru Uses Mimes and Amusing Animations to Explain Company Philosophy Posted: 18 Apr 2013 03:56 PM PDT When you think Subaru, you think all-wheel drive, boxer engines and rally pedigree. These are unquestionable brand traits that are, more or less, still present in many of their current (in-house designed) models – the BRZ is one of the exceptions, along with a few rebadge jobs based on cars from other automakers. Next Jaguar XJ Reportedly to Come in Two Market-Specific Body Styles, Classic and Modern Posted: 18 Apr 2013 03:30 PM PDT You can't not notice a current-generation Jaguar XJ as it drives by, and as you move your head in synchronicity with the movement of the car, you will notice that other people around you have also taken notice. It's an imposing sedan, and the first different XJ in a long line of conservatively-styled cars. However, it seems that while the new look was received quite well on the markets where the brand is already well-established, it fared less-well elsewhere. In China, for instance, most would apparently prefer a more restrained and classic-looking Jaguar shape, and since it is set to become the Indian-owned automaker's main source of revenue, they feel forced to comply. For the record, the Japanese automaker stated this will be its first-ever public reveal of a new car at a major music festival. Read more » |
Watch Italdesign’s Parcour Concept on the Move in New Promo Posted: 18 Apr 2013 01:19 PM PDT The Italdesign Parcour concept is a very good idea clad in very sexy body panels. It looks like a cross between a Lancia Stratos and every new Lamborghini you can think of, which is a positive thing. However, it is more than a sports/super car, and judging by the looks alone, I think it's even got a bit of Baja truck in it – if it's as capable off-road as it looks, then I for one am sold. Spy Shots: BMW i8 Hybrid Coupe Makes its Debut on the Nürburgring Track Posted: 18 Apr 2013 12:39 PM PDT It's off for the Nürburgring track for BMW's engineers and the upcoming i8 hybrid sports coupe that will be joining the Bavarian brand's production lineup in showrooms around the world from next year at prices that will exceed the €100,000 (equal to US$130,000+) mark in Europe. Tesla Announces High-End Loaner Car Service for Service Customers Posted: 18 Apr 2013 11:58 AM PDT It seems that aside from free charging via the solar-powered Superchargers, Tesla Motors customers will also benefit from Lexus-style loaner car service, as long as their own cars are in the shop for whatever reason. Elon Musk recently told USA Today that, since Model S production is going smoothly, he can now turn his attention to the after sales treatment. He has announced that Tesla will be creating a fleet of loaners 80 car-strong, which will be comprised entirely of the company's all-electric sedan. Furthermore, they will only be using the Performance model, with the quickest acceleration and longest range. Read more » |
Mercedes Driver Reportedly Faints on the Wheel Causing a Series of Accidents in Singapore Posted: 18 Apr 2013 11:32 AM PDT Upon seeing this video footage for the first time, you would be inclined to believe that the driver of the Mercedes-Benz sedan was drunk, running away from someone or perhaps both. However, as it turns out, the 42-year-old Singaporean man likely fainted on the wheel for unknown reasons. Read more » |
Ford Exec Says Next Mustang Will Be Updated, But Won’t Lose Traditional Values Posted: 18 Apr 2013 10:50 AM PDT The Ford Mustang is turning 50 next year, on April 17, to be precise, and its anniversary is very likely to coincide with the launch of an all-new, more globally-oriented version of the iconic pony car. Some of the main talking points include that it will be officially offered in Europe, and that it will be getting a turbocharged four-cylinder powerplant, though, this won't be a first, as the Fox-based model also offered such an engine. New Rolls-Royce Ghost Alpine Trial Centenary Collection Looks Back 100 Years for Inspiration Posted: 18 Apr 2013 10:24 AM PDT Premium automakers are well aware of the fact that affluent Chinese customers have a thing for special edition models, which is why you'll be seeing plenty of them at the Auto China 2013 in Shanghai. All-New Honda NSX Available for Order in Britain, Would You Get It Without Seeing it? Posted: 18 Apr 2013 09:45 AM PDT In a surprising move, Honda's UK arm announced today that it has opened a pre-order bank for the upcoming, second generation NSX hybrid sports car. We say surprising as up until now, the Japanese carmaker has, only shown pre-production concept versions of the NSX, which will be marketed under the Acura brand in North America and China. Honda said it did so because it the NSX "is already receiving unprecedented demand" in the United Kingdom, where potential buyers can place a deposit of £5,000 (equal to $7,650 and €5,850 at the current exchange rates) to be among the first to get behind the wheel of the hybrid model when it arrives in British showrooms in 2015. Lamborghini Veneno Spotted Out in the Open, Hear its V12 Roar Posted: 18 Apr 2013 09:27 AM PDT Arguably, the most visually-striking of the three big supercars revealed at the Geneva motor show, the Lamborghini Veneno made quite an impact, and was one of the highlights of the Swiss event. Up until now, we had not seen the car out in the open, and the previous video we showed of it was just more of the same – motor show-floor stand footage/photos. Read more » |
2014MY Fisker Karma Updates Purportedly Leaked by Laid Off Employees Posted: 18 Apr 2013 08:02 AM PDT After years of troubles, Fisker Automotive lost its founder, laid off most of its employees and effectively shut down its operations as it seeks bankruptcy protection. Unless a miracle happens, the future for the California-based carmaker looks extremely bleak. Until we see how this story ends or continues, we can share some different kind of news about the company as we received a tip pointing us towards the Fiskerbuzz forum where the automaker's laid off employees allegedly posted a picture and some details of the tweaked 2014 model year Karma. Hyundai i10 Almost Makes a Perfect Triple Somersault in Kiev Posted: 18 Apr 2013 07:32 AM PDT Not paying attention to the road and what's going on in front of your car can be hazardous for your health. You know it, I know it, everyone knows it, yet some drivers insist on being completely careless. In this video shot in Kiev, Ukraine, we see drivers slowing down and moving towards the left lane once they detect a stopped truck loaded with cars that appears to have been involved in an accident with a passenger model. Actually, every car except one red hatch, the driver of which speeds on and tries to overtake a Renault Scenic 4x4 and crosses into the other lane. Read more » |
Lamborghini to Wave Goodbye to Gallardo with Stripped-Out, Manual Gearbox Edition Posted: 18 Apr 2013 07:15 AM PDT The Lamborghini Gallardo is approaching the end of the line, after a very successful eight-year production run, and what a better way to celebrate the occasion than with another special edition model. It will be the final sendoff for the Gallardo, so you might expect it to be something special, as it truly deserves to be, because the model had sold over 13,000 examples worldwide, bringing in good profits for Audi and Lamborghini. New VW CrossBlue Coupe Concept Previewed Ahead of Shanghai Show Debut Posted: 18 Apr 2013 05:02 AM PDT Here's yet another crossover concept from a German carmaker that's set to debut at the 2013 Shanghai motor show. After the BMW X4 and Mercedes' GLA concepts announced for the Chinese venue, we now have news from Volkswagen. The Wolfsburg-based automaker will be bringing its own interpretation of the coupe-crossover formula to the show, in the form of the CrossBlue Coupe Concept, which is a sportier and more rakish-looking interpretation of the original idea – it probably also ditches the third row of seats too.
