Posted: 22 Apr 2013 05:40 PM PDT

Mercedes-Benz has definitely taken a gamble with the CLA, which along with the new A-Class hatchback, represent the Stuttgart-based manufacturer's attempt to "attract younger buyers," a phrase which is quickly turning into a cliché, as it seems to be the declared purpose of every other automaker these days – what of more mature buyers?

They are the ones with the real cash and the ones for whom Mercedes cars have always been made - there are only so many people in their early 30s who can freely spend around $30,000 or more on a car anywhere around the world…

General Motors May Sell Chinese-Built Cars in the USA

Posted: 22 Apr 2013 02:56 PM PDT

Would you currently buy a car made in China, with all of the bad publicity, those old catastrophic crash test videos and the general lack of experience in building automobiles? Well, of course, that depends on which company makes them, but you may be faced with the decision sooner than you'd think, because apparently, GM has expressed its desire to build some of its cars in China and export them to other markets.

Currently, GM's plan in China is to construct four new plants, in order to considerably boost capacity, and raise the number of local dealers to 5,100 by 2015 (today, there are 3,800 sales points, and another 400 will be added in 2013).

It's no secret that famed actor, bodybuilder and former California governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, has a thing for large means of transportation – be that his street legal Hummer and more recently, a customized Mercedes-Benz Unimog, or his personal M47 tank.

Knowing what he drives, is one thing, but what goes on when he gets behind the wheel, is a completely different story, which we might never get to learn about in real life, but we can sure imagine it with a little help from Canadian actor and comedian Will Sasso, who is mostly known as a cast member on MADtv and for starring as Curly in the 2012 movie "The Three Stooges".

Watch a Tuned Honda Civic Type-R Keep Up with Nissan GT-R on the ‘Ring

If there's one thing we like here at Carscoops it's exciting on-board footage from the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Even more so those videos where you think the driver is completely mad, driving something not particularly fast (at first glance) and keeping up with, and passing other more powerful cars, in a heroic attempt to prove that a modified model can compete with something that was purpose-built to go fast. Bye, Bye Concept Universe: Volvo Says No to Flagship Luxury Car

Posted: 22 Apr 2013 09:31 AM PDT

At the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show, Volvo displayed the Concept Universe, a study that was said to preview the company's flagship luxury sedan. At the Frankfurt show that same year, the Swedish automaker came up with another study for a large luxury car, the Concept You.

One could say these two concepts proved Volvo was serious about launching a flagship saloon model. However, at this year's Shanghai auto show, the carmaker's CEO, Hakan Samuelsson, said Volvo will not develop a large luxury sedan to compete against the BMW 7 Series, Audi A8 or Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

That's What You Get For Stopping to Let a Lady Cross the Road

Posted: 22 Apr 2013 07:30 AM PDT

One of the very first things you learn as a driver is to slow down while approaching, and always come to a complete stop at a crosswalk if a pedestrian is walking or waiting to cross the road.

While the driver with the dash-cam did precisely that, the person sitting behind the wheel of the car that was following on from the rear didn't pay attention and slammed into the other vehicle.

Nissan Friend-ME Concept was Designed for Young Chinese Buyers

Posted: 22 Apr 2013 06:36 AM PDT

Nissan unveiled the all-new Friend-ME concept at the Shanghai Auto Show this weekend, with the Japanese automaker saying the car was designed for young Chinese buyers, a segment that will soon become the world's largest.

The company says the Friend-ME is a sedan, although it looks more like a hatchback. Nevertheless, since China is the world's largest market for sedans, Nissan's claim is understandable. The four-seater car displays a bold design, but its flowing sculpted lines remind more of Lexus concept car than a Nissan study. The car is the fruit of collaboration between design teams from Nissan Design China (NDC) and Nissan Global Design Center (NGDC).
