Marine Corps Sgt Goes Ballistic Over a Civilian Driver with Nerves of Steel [NSFW]

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 08:11 PM PDT

A new video that surfaced on YouTube on Monday shows how a simple fender bender can reveal the road-rage-driven beast hiding inside one man, and the remarkably calm demeanor in another.

From what we understand, a civilian driver with a disabled female Marine passenger, rear-ended another car driven by a Marine Corps sergeant (Sgt) in California, near the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

We don't know if something preceded the accident, but after it occurred and the Sgt exited his car, all hell broke loose. Screaming at the top of his lungs, the Sgt insulted both the driver and the passenger, while also kicking the door as he wanted the driver to come out of his car so he could "beat" his "f[explicit] ass".

My Rotary Diaries: An Owner’s Guide to the Mazda RX-8 Galaxy

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 06:03 PM PDT

"The RX-8 doesn't just like a drink; it is the founding member of the AA institution for sports car engines"

Are you tired of my RX-8 reports yet? If you secretly nodded your head in agreement, then I have good news for you, because this will be the final one, in which I'll try to recount the ups and downs of running Mazda's last rotary sports car – until, hopefully, the next one comes up…

First of all, let me introduce you to the world's first contemporary four-door coupe. The Mercedes-Benz CLS that supposedly invented the niche? It was launched a year later than the RX-8, which is a coupe and has four doors. True, the Merc and its clones are perched much higher in terms of pricing and none adopted the rear suicide doors that did without the B-pillar, but you get the point.

Nissan Tells Us All We Need to Know About Clay Models in Video

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 03:59 PM PDT

All present cars are designed on a computer, the modern equivalent of stories such as the one about how children would climb over Sir William Lyons' manor wall and watch Mr. Jaguar sketch out his designs in the back yard do not have a modern equivalent.

If they did, it would imply the kids would be familiar with the use of window-washing equipment, so as to ascend to the upper floors of the skyscrapers where cars are dreamt up nowadays, and peer through the glass at computer screens.

Ferrari Getto Design Study is Part Hypercar, Part Racing Simulator

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 03:10 PM PDT

We all think we could be car designers and do a much better job than the actual people who do it for a living, and while there may be some good ideas scattered here and there, not all ideas are great.

This imaginary Ferrari concept for 2025 is one of the better ideas, as it intends to incorporate elements of racing simulators into the construction of its frame and cockpit.

Called the Getto (it's Italian for "jet", we're told), it is the result of many late nights spent by designer Christophe Jourd'hui getting the design and functionality of the car just right and keeping things feasible and realistic, even with the technology we have in 2013.

Spy Shots: Is This a Test Mule for the New Focus RS or a Focus Facelift?

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 02:00 PM PDT

While we try our best to gather information and use our investigating skills to identify most prototypes, there are times that carmakers leave us in the dark. This very lightly camouflaged Ford Focus hatchback captured by our scoop photographers that you see pictured here is one such example.

What we can tell you about this test car is that, the only part of the vehicle covered up is the front grille, and that the central exhaust pipes and the size of the brake discs, point to the 252hp Focus ST.

Auto Shop Spends €10,000 and 30 Days to Build a Dacia Logan Coupe with Bits from Hyundai Coupe

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 01:14 PM PDT

Three years ago, Romanian auto repair shop AutoK9 built a convertible version of the Dacia Logan. It was a one-off prototype aimed at demonstrating the workshop's technical abilities. Now they did it again, only this time they built a coupe version of Dacia's first-generation budget sedan.

To convert the Logan into a coupe in a fast and cost-effective way, AutoK9 added the roof and doors from a Hyundai Coupe on a regular Logan bodywork and chassis. After integrating the Korean parts, the folks from the repair shop fitted sport seats and steering wheel, as well as a lowered suspension and a noisier exhaust.

Woman Tips Her Mitsubishi on Two Wheels

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 11:38 AM PDT

It seems that parked cars are really good ramps for launching other vehicles into the air. Judging by the videos we've seen, it's usually hatchbacks which offer the best lift. This new video shows how a woman in a red Mitsubishi (or so the badge suggests) hatchback gets some impressive two-wheel driving action. However, she does not topple the car over because it gently balances itself out using the trailer of a passing truck… Read more »

Scoop: New BMW 4-Series Gran Coupe Promises to be a Prettier Take on the 3-Series Sedan

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 06:13 AM PDT

Not content with covering all the mainstream and even niche ends of the compact executive segment with the new 3-Series Sedan, Touring and Gran Turismo, and in the coming months, the 4-Series Coupe and Convertible models as well, BMW is now carving a…niche within a niche, with a sixth body style, the 4-Series Gran Coupe.

Whereas the 3-Series Gran Turismo is designed as an alternative to the 3-Series Sedan and Touring models, the new 4-Series Gran Coupe promises to combine the practicality of the 3-Series Sedan's four doors with the longer wheelbase of the 3-Series Gran Turismo and the looks of the 4-Series Coupe.

Scion May Move More Upmarket, Abandon its Youth-Oriented Approach

Posted: 02 Apr 2013 05:07 AM PDT

The Scion brand, a Toyota creation for the North American market, has been struggling in recent years, with lackluster sales and an ageing model lineup. Now, in the face of front-wheel drive, premium cars from Europe, officials are mulling a rethink of the entire brand, which may move upmarket and fight vehicles like Mercedes' CLA, or the Audi A3.

It seems that there is also quite a bit of pressure involved, as Jim Lentz, CEO of Toyota North America stated to Autonews: "Everybody is looking at what direction Scion should go [...] We have to take a real hard look at what the future of the industry looks like strategically, and where we want Scion to play."
