Little Jaws Found in New York Train Posted: 07 Aug 2013 04:11 PM PDT Make all the fun you want about Syfy channel's redonkulous Sharknado film (producers are laughing all the way to the top of Twitter feeds), but sometimes, crazy things can happen in real life. Just past midnight, passengers of a Queens-bound N train in New York City discovered a…shark lying under a seat. Unlike the movie, the small shark was deceased. No one knows how and why it got there, but as is always the case with these bizarre incidents, there is plenty of speculation, with some thinking it may have been a prank, especially since it's Shark Week on Discovery Channel. You may remember their previous effort as being featured in the iRobot movie, starring Will Smith. Now, they're making a "futuristic, progressive and cutting edge" concept for "Summit Entertainment's film adaptation of the award-winning, best-selling novel Ender's Game" – it's called the fleet shuttle quattro (strangely, no capitals used whatsoever here). Polk Study Finds Average Age of Light Vehicles Stands at 11.4 Years and Is Still Rising Posted: 07 Aug 2013 03:06 PM PDT The financial crisis may be more or less over and automotive sales are on the rise in the U.S., but according to a study by Polk, the average age of light vehicles has risen to record levels and is still going up. For passenger cars, the age went up from 9.8 years in 2002 to the 11.4 figure we have today, as does their number – there are currently 247 million of the vehicles in total on the road. Light trucks have also suffered the same trend, and while they were generally a bit newer than cars in 2002, they have almost caught up, with their current average age standing at around 11.3 years. 2014 Subaru WRX and STI Continue as is with a Small Price Increase Posted: 07 Aug 2013 12:14 PM PDT Subaru will continue to offer its current generation WRX and STI hatchbacks and sedans for the 2014 model year in the States, while it prepares their successor that's scheduled to be introduced within the next couple of years. Well-known tuner of Euro-style hot Fords, Mountune, has announced that it is coming to the US, where it will gain its own facility with multiple roles, including that of distribution hub for their range of high-performance and racing parts. What's interesting about Mountune is the fact that they are Ford-certified in the select countries they operate in, and even if, say with the new Focus ST the power is upped to 271 hp (275 PS), the manufacturer warranty remains untouched. Auto Express Finds the BMW 4-Series Coupe Less Sharp than Expected Posted: 07 Aug 2013 10:04 AM PDT We've already seen the first video review of the BMW 4-Series Coupe – a rather critical one from Chris Harris – but a second opinion is always welcome. This time the crew from Auto Express got hold of a brand new BMW 435i and their conclusions are not very different to Harris', although they found more kind words to describe the 4-Series. First of all, the reviewer loved the car's styling, describing the 4-Series Coupe as one of the best looking modern BMWs. Being based on the 3-Series' platform, it is also a practical car (for a coupe at least), with the boot being only 45 liters smaller than the 3-Series sedan's. Read more »

Although it uses the C-Elysée nameplate, the racecar has nothing to do with the humble budget sedan. Powered by a 380hp 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine linked to a six-speed Sadev sequential gearbox, the C-Elysée WTCC only weighs 1,100 kg (2,425 lbs) – that's including the driver. Documentary Tells the Real Tale of the Tucker Torpedo/48 [w/Videos] Posted: 07 Aug 2013 08:07 AM PDT Of all the great cars that could have been, the Tucker is right there at the very top of the list. Only around 50 cars were ever made, despite the fact that the company had the largest single-space factory in the world (at the time) at their disposal, which had been previously used to build the Wright R-3350 Cyclone engines for B-29 Superfortress bombers during WWII. I think America would have not started trailing Europe and other parts of the world in terms of automotive technology (which it did, and is only now just starting to catch up – fact) if the Big Three would have left Preston Tucker (and others like him) alone to make his (far more advanced) car. All manufacturers are aware of the appeal of extra traction in colder climates, and Tesla wouldn't mind a boost in their sales either. Now, The Verge reports that the Silicon Valley-based manufacturer is actually readying an all-wheel drive model, which it will sell as the very top of the line.
