Watch How the Alfa Romeo 4C is Born and Built at Maserati’s Modena Plant

Posted: 12 Jun 2013 06:18 PM PDT

Following yesterday's details about the manufacturing process of the Alfa Romeo 4C sportscar, the Italian brand released a video that shows how the vehicle is actually built, and it's a pretty interesting process to watch.

Starting with the construction of the carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the video shows all the complicated and time-consuming production steps where manual labor takes the center role. Alfa Romeo says the minimum "takt time" (the manufacturing speed needed to guarantee delivery) is 20 minutes. For comparison, the shortest "takt time" in mass production plants is approximately 50 seconds.

Posted: 12 Jun 2013 05:24 PM PDT

If you live in a small flat for which you pay far too much in rent, then you won't really like this $3 million RV built specially for oil sheikhs – the ones who pick which G65 (not 63) AMG they are to use to conquer the dunes on any given day (gold-plated, platinum-plated or gold- and platinum-plated with ruby accents and carefully carved Citrine crystals for indicators).

These people will feel right at home in the newly-launched eleMMent PALAZZO by Austria's Marchi Mobile, which gets a double capital M in its name, and it alone is reportedly worth around one quarter of the entire asking price.

Posted: 12 Jun 2013 02:48 PM PDT

If a survey was commissioned to find out the most annoying passengers according to drivers, why one about cheating on one's partner based on make of the car driven? Believe it or not, it's real and it has been commissioned by a married dating website called Illicit Encounters, which polled its 750,000 members.

Posted: 12 Jun 2013 01:47 PM PDT

In many ways, the VW Golf GTI, the BMW M3 and the Porsche 911 GT3 have always been children of the same German family. Sure, there are fundamental differences from pricing to driving layouts, but you will also find key similarities in their core DNA and it's not hard to see how the owner of one car could effortlessly jump into the other one – preferably, in the same order we mentioned them earlier.

Around 23,000 people were forced to flee their homes in the German city of Magdeburg, and in Central Europe, a reported 12 people have died ever since the heavy rains started last week.

Before you unleash some bitter words onto SsangYong about the resemblance between the Actyon compact sport utility vehicle and the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupé (SAC), you might want to know that the Koreans had presented their high-riding and sloped-roof hatchback-style model in 2005, or three years before the Bavarians came out with their luxury proposal.

Still, we're pretty impressed at how well BMW's double kidney grille and logos blend in on this SsangYong Actyon, which was spotted parked partially on a sidewalk in Poland.

China Threatens the EU with Higher Import Duties on Luxury Cars

Posted: 12 Jun 2013 07:49 AM PDT

Starting a trade war with the world's largest car market is not a very wise decision for any country that has a strong auto industry, much less for the European Union, which is home to some of the most important carmakers in the world.

However, this is really on the verge of happening, as the EU has imposed duties on Chinese solar panels, infuriating the government of the world's most populous country, which retaliated by launching an anti-dumping investigation into imported European wine.

What do impersonators of Michael Jackson and Marilyn Monroe sharing the stage with a scantily dressed lady who may or may not be doubling as a star (does she remind you of anyone?), have to do with the world premiere of the new European market 2014 Toyota Corolla in Istanbul, Turkey?

To be frank, we've no idea how they all fit in or why these people were chosen to be part of the presentation - unless Toyota wanted to make some sort of point about the longevity of the Corolla name, still it's no star…

The Insignia has proved to be a strong buy, and now it is getting updated to stay strong in the face of perpetually-improving rivals, which are now not only limited to its specific class, as it most definitely reels in a few Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class buyers with an option-less premium car, or a fully-kitted out Insignia with leather, and all of the goodies buyers like to have.
