Ferrari California Replica with Real Folding Hardtop is Based on Lexus SC430 [w/Video]

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 06:46 PM PDT

From the makers of the admittedly convincing Aston Martin DBS replica based on a Toyota Supra with details inspired from the 2008 James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace, which we shared with you last year, comes a new project, this time of a Ferrari California roadster built on the Lexus SC430 convertible and named the Cali. Harris Pits Jaguar F-Type Against Porsche 911S Cabriolet and Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 05:19 PM PDT

The Jaguar F-Type is a car that the British brand has great expectations, otherwise they wouldn't have called it the spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type. Nevertheless, this is not the 1960s, and the F-Type has to stand up against much tougher competitors than the E-Type had to.

At least for the F-Type V8 S model that is powered by a 495-hp V8, the most feared competitor is the world's default sports car, the Porsche 911 - in its Carrera S Cabriolet iteration. Chris Harris took both for a spin, adding the old and "slow" Aston V8 Vantage Roadster to the mix, and reached some interesting conclusions.

Norwegians Conduct Cold Weather Test of Tesla Model S, Find Range Satisfactory [w/Video]

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 04:44 PM PDT

It was only a matter of time before the Tesla Model S made its way into European hands, and after first arriving in Germany and the Netherlands, they have now arrived in the hands of the EV-loving Norwegians.

This has allowed Autofil Magazine to take an 85 kWh Model S and drive it from the country's capital, Oslo, to Geilo, located some 243 km (151 miles) away, without any sort of right pedal restraint – the reviewer would drive it like any other regular car.

Watch a Short History Lesson on the Evolution of the BMW M3 Species

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 04:10 PM PDT

The BMW M3 is without a doubt, the most successful BMW M model, and it all started almost three decades ago with the E30 BMW M3. Built over the years in coupe, convertible and even sedan variants (the E36 and E90), the M3 is still the default choice for those who want supercar performance for premium sedan money.

To this day, the original E30 BMW M3 stirs emotions like no other M3, but that doesn't mean the following generations were flops. However, as far as the E36 M3 is concerned, BWS Motorsports' Marc Norris has a different opinion though, as he sees it as a step backwards compared to the E30 M3, despite the fact that it was the first M3 with a six-cylinder engine.

Scoop: All-New Nissan Rogue and Possibly X-Trail SUV

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 03:32 PM PDT

Here we have the first scoop pictures of the next iteration of the North American Nissan Rogue, and if our information is correct, the new global market X-Trail as well. This prototype was nabbed while undergoing hot weather testing in Death Valley.

Nissan may have plastered the Rogue's body with more tape than an Egyptian mummy, but it can't hide the similarities to last year's Hi Cross Concept study that was shown both in Europe and in the USA, something doesn't come to as a surprise as this was something we anticipated.

Rapper Flo Rida Buys Gold Chrome-Wrapped Bugatti Veyron to "Floss and Stunt"

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 03:05 PM PDT

If you thought flossing and stunting were two unrelated words, one meaning to clean one's teeth with a string, while the other referring to jumping through a window made of sugar, the English language slang says no!

Flossing and stunting is what "ballers and gangsters" do, and it basically means to show off one's opulent material possessions, and really make sure everybody has seen you, so that you make insecure less financially fortunate people feel uneasy.

Jay Leno Drives the Cadillac ELR, Says It’s a Different Kind of Fun

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 02:32 PM PDT

While the Cadillac ELR uses the Chevrolet Volt's front-wheel drive platform and Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) hybrid powertrain, GM hates it when the ELR is compared to the more mundane Volt.

More luxurious, more powerful and more beautiful than the Volt (personal opinion here), the Cadillac ELR will also be much more expensive when in launches in 2014, with analysts estimating the ELR's starting price between $60,000 and $70,000 – roughly double the Volt's price.

Renault Subtly Updates the Koleos, Gains New Grille and Multimedia System [w/Videos]

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 01:51 PM PDT

Renault has released a mildly revised Renault Koleos at the International Buenos Aires Motor Show in Argentina. Renault says its crossover model now features the brand's latest identity, but the changes are rather small compared to the facelifted model launched in 2011.

The most obvious modification is the redesigned V-shaped grille that has also received a larger rhombus logo. The rest of the front end is virtually unchanged, as is the rear, with the Koleos only gaining redesigned two-tone wheels, a chrome finish for the side protective strips and a new body color called Ebony Brown.

Drive of Hydrogen-Powered Honda FCX Illustrates Lack of Refilling Stations in the US

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 01:04 PM PDT

We haven't heard much about the fuel-cell Honda FCX Clarity since its launch in 2008, despite it being a very important car for the future of motoring, in terms of concept and the way it produces power.

However, in a recent organized drive which was attended by Autonews, one problem became very obvious – there are nowhere near enough hydrogen filling stations in the U.S. in order to make driving such vehicles at least marginally more practical than a battery powered EV, or any other vehicle, for that matter.

EVO Puts Bugatti Veyron GS Vitesse Up Against Pagani Huayra

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 12:03 PM PDT

The latest video from EVO Magazine is not about exact horsepower numbers, or zero to sixty times, as their latest drive is all about how one feels driving two hypercars in the south of France.

The first contender is the classic hypercar choice, the Bugatti Veyron, in Grand Sport Vitesse guise, and it is driven alongside the first right-hand drive Pagani Huayra, which has just reached its first UK customer.

2014 Mazda3 Hatchback Scoop: Could This Be It?

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 11:31 AM PDT

Regular readers will no doubt remember that the upcoming, new generation 2014 Mazda3 hatchback has had its fair share of supposedly official but ultimately fake rounds of photos over the past few months.

That said, we cannot but take this photo, which reportedly first appeared on a Russian Facebook account, with a grain of salt - even though it does look like it may be real, with all the design details matching up to the camouflaged prototypes we've seen this year.

Check Out The Keying Car and Bike Prank

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 11:00 AM PDT

You can call this the two-second prank - because that's all it takes for most people to realize that you're fooling around with them in an admittedly harmless way. Still, that doesn't make it any less amusing to our eyes and ears.

The funny kids at Ross Creations are responsible for this on-the-road hoax where they informed car drivers and even motorcycle riders that they forgot their keys on the door.

New Nissan GT-R Nismo to Get Over 570 Hp, Says Top Gear

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 10:32 AM PDT

A harder, better, faster version of any sporty car is a welcome addition, but when it's Godzilla we're talking about, then the talk suddenly gets a heck of a lot more interesting.

So apparently Top Gear has acquired information which would suggest that a Nismo GT-R is definitely in the works, and that it is being engineered to achieve a time of under 7m 18s on the Nürburgring, making it faster than the all-new Porsche 911 GT3 which manages the feat a claimed four seconds slower.

Renault Clio RS 200 EDC Drag Races Predecessor and Peugeot 208 GTI

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 09:07 AM PDT

When you're buying a relatively affordable hot hatch, the sheer amount of performance you are offered is hugely important, especially if you are the kind of person who really likes his or her car, and wants everybody to know just how much.

Currently, the Renault Clio RS 200 EDC, with a 1.6-liter turbocharged petrol engine is the king of the supermini-based hot hatches, when it comes to how much of its power it can put to the ground.

BMW 4-Series Rendered As Four-Door Gran Coupe and As a Convertible

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 08:40 AM PDT

Despite the logic not being there for all people to understand when it comes to this matter - myself included, BMW is turning the 3-Series four-door sedan into the two-door 4-Series, and then turning it back into a four-door sedan, all while keeping the "4" designation but adding the "Gran Coupe" moniker after it.

This means that you will be able to buy the traditional Bavarian sedan in three distinct body styles: you have the regular 3-, the 4- Gran Coupe and the 3- GT (which quite a few readers thought was an uncool car), and that's a lot of choice for BMW buyers… perhaps too much.

Spied: Jaguar Hones New F-Type Coupe on the Nürburgring

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 07:53 AM PDT

Here are some fresh photos of the prototype model that will lead to the production version of the all-new Jaguar F-Type Coupe. Our spy photographers nabbed the car while the British firm's testers were running some hot laps around the Nürburgring circuit.

Even though Jaguar originally previewed the F-Type with a concept for the coupe in 2011, it was the roadster model that was released to the public first. To get your hands on the closed-top model, you'll have to wait at least a year as from what we've heard, Jaguar plans to reveal the sports coupe no sooner than summer of 2014.

Last of Its Kind – Watch a POV Test Drive of the Volvo C30 T5 R-Design

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 07:31 AM PDT

The C30 will definitely be missed, with its competent Ford Focus underpinnings, which made it quite a handler, solid Volvo interior and of course, the exterior design. Now, it has been pulled from the production line, without getting a direct replacement – yet.

However, it will not be forgotten by many, especially after seeing monstrous concept by Polestar, which gave the C30 all-wheel drive and 405 hp, as well as a body kit and unique shade of blue. That car was well received, and it spurred the Swedes to create the T5 M R-Design Polestar Edition, which is a toned down (but still exciting) version of the concept.

Arden Facelifts and Widens 2005-2009 Range Rover Sport

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 06:53 AM PDT

When automakers apply only minor changes to their models, it's a God's gift to tuners as they can offer these parts to existing owners.

In the case of Arden and the first generation of the Range Rover Sport, the German tuning firm has developed a package that brings the appearance of the pre-facelift SUV (built from 2005 to 2009) in line with the changes applied to the 2010MY, and then adds some new aero components and wheels.

A Third of U.S. Car Buyers Are Considering Diesels, Survey Finds

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 06:34 AM PDT

The times they are a-changin' indeed, as Bob Dylan said in his famous song. Not long ago, diesel fuel was mainly used by trucks in the U.S. but now it looks like a third of consumers are considering buying a diesel car when the time of purchase comes.

A recent survey conducted by the National Association for Convenience and Fuel Retailing (NACS) shared by Consumer Reports revealed that among consumers likely to purchase a vehicle in the next two years, 31 percent are likely to consider a diesel. The main reasons for this are obviously fuel economy and environmental concerns.

Lawyer and Retired Cop in Ties Get Into a Road Rage Fight in LA

While a fight is never a funny thing, you'll forgive us for chuckling at the sight of two dressed-up Los Angeles men in their silver-hair years trying to throw punches at each other, but at the same time, needing help to get up from the road...

YouTube author Jessica Breuer captured the road-rage fight on film. This is what she wrote about the incident: "Two men in ties fighting in the street. The guy with the short hair flew out of his car and started beating the crap out of the other guy."

BMW 2002 with a Wide Booty and 5.0-Liter Mustang V8 Up for Grabs on eBay

Posted: 19 Jun 2013 05:35 AM PDT

If classic car ownership is what you're interested in, then perhaps you should look elsewhere…This piece focuses on a BMW 2002 from 1969 that has been painted a very strange two-tone combination of olive green and brown, which does nothing to hide the huge flared wheel arches.

The car's interior has been stripped out, literally, and what is left can only be called minimalist – it's not eye catching in any way, but you won't have time to check out the hole where the dash was supposed to be, because this car packs a 5.0-liter V8 engine from a Ford Mustang that breathes out through matte-white side pipes!
