We Visually Compare the New BMW 4-Series with the Outgoing 3-Series Coupe Posted: 17 Jun 2013 06:05 PM PDT The production version of the BMW 4-Series Coupe may look toned down compared to the concept, but let's not forget that almost all studies lose some of their shine when translated into series production models. While this is true, it doesn't mean the production 4-Series is an ugly car. One can't make such a statement before seeing it in real life. So, how does the 4-Series Coupe compare to its predecessor, the 3-Series Coupe? We listened to one of our reader's request (nicknamed "anonymo") and we put both the two cars side by side in a virtual photo comparison to see which one looks better. Read more » |
Sound and Tire Burning Fun with a New Maserati Quattroporte GTS V8 Posted: 17 Jun 2013 04:53 PM PDT Despite its name, heritage, origins, and of course, a Ferrari co-developed and force-fed 3.8-liter V8 lurking under its long hood feeding 523-horses (530PS / 390kW) the rear wheels, the new 2014 Maserati Quattroporte GTS saloon isn't a car you'd expect to be hooned around, even the slightest. Korres Project 4 is a Greek's Answer to a Super-Crossover Coupe [w/Videos] Posted: 17 Jun 2013 04:21 PM PDT Greece is not represented in the global supermarket for sports cars, but there are people trying to put the country on the map, in a meaningful way. One such man is architect/inventor Dimitris Korres, who is building a unique sports car that is intended for fast driving on surfaces other than tarmac. Called the Korres Project 4, it uses a naturally-aspirated seven-liter V8 engine straight out of the old Corvette Z06, and since it is lighter than the American car, 62 mph (100 km/h) comes up in under 4 seconds, while top speed is a claimed 186 mph (300 km/h). BMW M5 Races Ferrari F430 Scuderia Through the Streets of NYC Posted: 17 Jun 2013 03:55 PM PDT We'd all love to own a car with over 500 hp, and drive it every day – there are lots of vehicles to choose from which fit these two criteria, at increasingly affordable prices. However, the danger is that you won't have anywhere to really drive them, aside from a racetrack, which requires booking and is not necessarily cheap. Read more » |
Two Boston Parking Spaces Sell for $560,000 During Bidding War Between Neighbors! Posted: 17 Jun 2013 05:46 PM PDT How much would you be willing to pay for a parking space you badly need? We're guessing that, for most people, it can't be $280,000 (€209,770). Yes, you read that right, a man in Boston paid $560,000 (€419,760) for two tandem parking spots located in an exclusive neighborhood in the Back Bay area of the city! According to a Boston.com report, the initial auction from the IRS started at $42,000. So how did they end up costing more than thirteen times that amount? Well, it was all caused by a bidding war between two neighbors. Both wanted the parking spots behind 298 Commonwealth Ave. so badly that they were carried away with the bidding. Read more » |
Watch a Ford Transit Drive Itself In the Quest for Better Durability Posted: 17 Jun 2013 02:46 PM PDT The main problem with factory test drivers is the fact that they are human, and this brings along several limitations to the amount of work that can be done. For instance, some severe durability courses are so tough that drivers are only allowed to tackle them once per day. Another problem is consistency, as it is virtually impossible to repeat a task multiple times in exactly the same way – a human driver can only be so accurate. Read more » |
Watch What It's Like to Drive Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse for 3 Days and 1,000 Miles Posted: 17 Jun 2013 02:55 PM PDT While the Bugatti Veyron is the absolute superlative of car ownership, the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse can only be the…superlative of the superlative. With 1,200PS (compared to "just" 1,001PS in the regular Veyron) and the option of open-top driving, the Vitesse is the fastest roadster in the world, as it can reach 410 km/h (255mph). Furthermore, the massive 8-liter W16 engine catapults the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 2.6 seconds. Read more » |
StudioTorino Puts an Italian Twist to New Porsche Cayman, Only 20 will be Built Posted: 17 Jun 2013 01:39 PM PDT Whereas the previous model we showed you from StudioTorino, the Mercedes-Benz SL Shooting Brake, was a purely conceptual project, the Porsche Cayman S-based Moncenisio previewed in these sketches will be built in a limited run of 20 numbered units that will be available for order beginning from this November, following the release a real-life prototype model in October. New BMW 4-Series Coupe Debuts on Video, Includes Driving Footage Posted: 17 Jun 2013 12:37 PM PDT BMW has accustomed us to having its designers and marketing people talk us through its new models, and the 4-Series Coupe is no exception. With the reveal of its new 3-Series-based coupe, the Bavarian carmaker also released a video in which BMW's head of design Karim Habib describes the 4-Series Coupe's styling highlights. According to Habib, the new coupe adds more status and has more presence on the road than the outgoing 3-Series coupe. The Bavarian company's design boss says the most important thing about it are its proportions. Dimwitted BMW M3 Driver has a Death Wish Posted: 17 Jun 2013 11:37 AM PDT More due to luck than anything else, the Russian (or so we understand he's from Russia) driver of this BMW M3 E92 Coupe was not involved in an accident – this time, at least, because if he continues this way, he will surely soon make it on our list of crazy crashes from the land of Tsars... Even so, the driver and his passenger who was filming the speedy run came very close to re-creating this much-publicized Moscow accident that occurred earlier in the year. Read more » |

If you're in the market for something that could give you a very different (and possibly unwanted) hairstyle, and have about $80,000 to spend, then a four-wheel drive Audi RS5 Cabriolet is not a bad way to go. We now bring you a POV test drive of the car, which in the usual Winding Road Magazine fashion features no talking whatsoever, so that you can draw your own conclusions. Read more » |
Pogea Racing Offers the Alfa Romeo 4C Its First Tune, Promises to Boost Power to 415HP Posted: 17 Jun 2013 07:50 AM PDT The Alfa Romeo 4C has yet to arrive in dealerships, but Pogea Racing has already presented the first tune for the mid-engined Italian sports car. Pogea also throws in sporty suspension components and interior accessories made of materials such as leather, aluminum and carbon fiber. The aero kit gives the Alfa 4C a more striking appearance thanks to the carbon fiber body parts for the front, side and rear. These elements also help reduce the lift forces, thus increasing high-speed driving stability. Read more » |
This Biker Needs to Chill Out in the Corner for a Bit Posted: 17 Jun 2013 07:26 AM PDT If not always, most of the times, accidents are a result of series of factors (some of which can be avoided, some not) that all line up and result in an unfortunate outcome. Once you check out the following video, which fortunately, did not end in an accident, you'll see what we mean. Read more » |

New 2014 Toyota Corolla Envisioned as a Coupe – Should it be Built? Posted: 17 Jun 2013 06:03 AM PDT With the brand new generation of the Corolla that was presented earlier this month, Toyota followed a bolder strategy in terms of the car's design and features to counter threats from other Asian as well as European and even American brands. As it stands, there's only a sedan version of the Corolla, while Toyota has no current plans for replacing the Matrix hatchback, which pegs the question whether the company should offer more body styles in North America, like many of its competitors – i.e. Honda sells the Civic in Sedan and Coupe iterations, while Ford offers the Focus in Sedan and Hatchback flavors. SRT Launches First Promo Video for New Viper, Aims for Emotion Posted: 17 Jun 2013 05:30 AM PDT Buying an SRT Viper definitely makes sense, for any number of reasons. The fact of the matter is that latest one is the brand's highest technical achievement, using the latest of technologies to make it a viable alternative to the mainstream performance brands. It looks good, it's reportedly more comfortable than before (though all of the video reviewers got bounced around during their shoots, so we have our reserves about that) and the V10 engine pushes out 640hp, which is impressive and makes for blistering performance.
