However, even the classic forms of motorsport have been affected, and the 2014 Le Mans race will be featuring an entry from Nissan, which is preparing its electrified race car as we speak – they are set to reveal it on June 21.

UK Set to Overtake France for Car Production by 2018, Romania May Surpass Italy!

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 02:04 PM PDT

With several factories closing up in France, they may find it hard to match their 2012 production figure of 1.9 million automobiles in coming years – the outlook is currently not very positive.

The French have been hit, like many other citizens in the Old Continent by a combination of high unemployment and individuals focusing on paying back loans (or trying to do so and failing, because there are no jobs…), which in turn have caused a drop in the demand for new cars.

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 01:33 PM PDT

What would you say if you were waiting for a bus you and all of a sudded got a ride in a brand new Alfa Romeo 4C, with none other than endurance racing driver Marc Gené behind the wheel? It's a rhetorical question, so don't bother answering because we know you'd say yes.

That's exactly what happened to a lucky Madrilenian who jumped right in when Marc Gené pulled over and asked him if he wanted a ride in the 4C. However, the surprise didn't end there. After rolling on the streets of Spain's capital, Marc Gené asked his passenger if he really wanted to do something that he'd never forget.

Sutcliffe Passes Judgment on the New 355HP Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 12:27 PM PDT

The A45 AMG is Mercedes' smack in the face of the established hot hatch manufacturers, with a car that looks different, apparently drives quite well and is powered by the world's most powerful production two-liter turbocharged engine. It's so impressive, that it's actually faster in a straight line than the bigger, more powerful and far, far more expensive CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake. Read more »

StudioTorino Envision Fabulous Looking Mercedes-Benz SL Shooting Brake [w/Video]

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 12:04 PM PDT

What would a shooting brake-style coupe version of the Mercedes-Benz SL roadster look like? This is a question you no longer need to look for an answer, as Italian design house, Studiotorino, developed a project called "Coupetorino 2013", which is a concept for an SL Shooting Brake model.

A non-profit academic project at Istituto di Arte Applicata e Design (IAAD), the Coupetorino 2013 began to take shape in 2012 when six design students (Bruno Arena, Michele Bavaro, Riccardo Luigi Cascone, Stefano Manini, Dario Pellegrino and Cristiano Zanot) set out to transform the Mercedes SL into an exclusive coupe with the support of Steffen Koehl from Global Advance Design Mercedes-Benz.

All-New 2014 BMW 4-Series Coupe, This Is It! [35 Photos]

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 09:19 AM PDT

There are times when one can't be sure whether photos of a new vehicle are real, but there's no questioning the authenticity of these pictures of the 2014 BMW 4-Series Coupe released by the German website Motor-Talk.

If you haven't heard about it before, the 4-Series is a new nameplate in BMW's range used on the replacements of the current 3-Series Coupe and Convertible models as well as the new Gran Coupe saloon.

These photos reveal the new 4-Series Coupe model, or the slightly toned down production version of the 4-Series Coupe study displayed at the Detroit Motor Show earlier this year. The name may be different, but the two-door model continues to be based on and is influenced by the styling of the 3-Series sedan.

Aside from the two-seat layout at the back, the sleek looking Bavarian coupe shares its interior design with the more family-orientated 3-Series range.

We have yet to get our hands on the press release, but the report on the German website says that compared to its predecessor, the new 4-Coupe has grown 26mm in length to 4,640mm and 43mm in width to 1,830mm, while the roofline drops 16mm in height to 1,360mm. It rides on a 50mm longer wheelbase at 2,810mm.

Citroen DS2 Reportedly Coming to Paris Motor Show Next Year to Rival Fiat 500

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 08:35 AM PDT

Citroen's range of DS-badged cars may get a new addition as of next year, if reports published by AutoBild prove accurate. Apparently, the Dual Chevron brand's premium lineup is getting its smallest car yet, one that will (predictably) be called the DS2.

According to the information we have at hand, it will be more of a rival for the Fiat 500 and high-spec new Renault Twingos, and not the MINI Cooper, which has had the DS3 chasing after it ever since its launch, and doing a not-so-bad job of it (sales-wise).

New Mercedes S63 AMG "Accidentally Revealed" While Rolling Off the Production Line?

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 08:18 AM PDT

Since the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class has been revealed, and we've seen quite a few photos of it, it's really not hard to imagine what the hot S63 model will look like, especially if we take a peek at what goes into transforming an E-Class into an E63 – different sportier bumpers, slight body kit, new rims and AMG badging both inside and out, all complimented by special color finishes.

However, we need not wonder any more, as Mercedes has accidentally revealed the S63, at the Sindelfingen factory where it is built, through a video found by Autoforum. The Czechs argue that it wasn't really accidental, and that we were meant to see this – we agree, though we cannot ever be certain of such matters.

A group of off-road buddies in Australia had a bit of an adventure when one them tried to cross through a bed of muddy water in a fifth generation Nissan Patrol SUV and ended up getting stuck.

One of his friends in what looks to be a fourth generation Patrol from the 1990s was there to give a helping hand. It took a couple of pulling efforts, but he was able to muscle out the Japanese off-roader from the murky pond.

Petrolicious Gives Us a BMW E30 M3 Appreciation Lesson

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 06:02 AM PDT

The E30 BMW M3 is now a real collectors' car, but unlike most old vehicles people end up collecting that are either too slow or far too unsuitable for modern traffic conditions, this is a sports car dressed up as a late 1980s 3-Series. However, it doesn't really share that much with the standard car when it comes to its body, from which it only takes the basic body shell, roof and bonnet. Read more »

Super-Lightweight Toyota 86 TRD Griffon Concept Flies to Goodwood Festival

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 05:11 AM PDT

Toyota's arsenal of cars at this year's edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed that takes place in Britain from July 11 to 14 will include the GT 86 TRD Griffon Project. If the name rings a bell it's because the Japanese carmaker had originally presented the concept at the Tokyo Auto Salon in January this year.

Toyota Racing Developments (TRD) developed the 86 Griffon as a track racer keeping the road-going model's 200-horsepower boxer engine intact, but upgrading the rest of the components and more importantly, shaving 500 pounds (226.7 kg) to bring the curb weight down to just 2,310 pounds (1,048 kg).
