Trooper Pulls Out Gun to Stop Luxury and Exotic Cars! Is it Even Legal?

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 04:53 PM PDT

We don't profess to be experts in the laws of every state around the U.S., and for all we know, pulling out a gun while stopping a car on the highway for traffic check / violation could be legal in Arkansas, but even if it is, we can't say that it sits well with us nor does it make us feel any safer…

Said incident took place in June during "goldRush Rally" when the drivers and passengers of a number of exotic sports and luxury cars were passing through Arkansas. State troopers had blocked the road to catch and ticket the drivers

A recent article from The Detroit News says that along with in-car infotainment systems, advanced examples of which can now be had in a multitude of cheap, basic cars, another useful piece of dashboard-mounted tech is becoming increasingly popular: head-up displays, or HUD. Read more »

MT Takes an 1,000HP Oshkosh Striker 3000 Military Fire Truck Off-Road

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 03:05 PM PDT

You may remember one of our recent posts in which we covered a new and very promising off-road simulator, called Spintires. I tried out the demo version and liked it because it allowed the user to take a very detailed version of a (Soviet era) Maz off-road truck onto some treacherous terrain, and then come out the other side (most of the times, anyway). Are You Ready Kids? Toyota to Unveil SpongeBob-Inspired 2014 Highlander Concept

One of the main highlights of the recently redesigned 2014 Toyota Highlander is its more serious and slightly tougher looks, (mostly) courtesy of the new front end. Well, prepare yourself for a more…lighthearted version of the mid-size crossover as the Japanese carmaker has joined forces with Nickelodeon and the world's most famous fictional sea creature, Mr. SpongeBob Squarepants to create a new concept model. Lada Design Boss Wants to Follow Kia's Example and Turn Around the Brand’s Styling

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 02:01 PM PDT

What car do you think of when you say the word Lada? I for one think of the boxy Fiat 124-based Lada 1500 (known as the VAZ-2105 in Russia) which was produced between 1980 and 2012.

Apparently, AvtoVAZ design director Steve Mattin wants to change this perception of Lada as a maker of old-fashioned cars that are way past their expiry date by introducing a design revolution, inspired by the way Kia's design boss Peter Schreyer transformed the Korean brand's image.

Hartmann Makes the Volkswagen T5 a Little Bit Cooler

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 01:25 PM PDT

There's so much you can do to a commercial-turned-into-passenger van like the Volkswagen Transporter (T5) to spruce it up without making it look ridiculous or complete kitsch, and we think Hartmann has done a pretty good job with its 'VANSPORTS' tuning program. Read more »

The automobile is ever present in our lives, and it's safe to say that many people today spend more time inside their cars than anywhere else – except, of course, the house and the office.

It's only natural then that people experience both happy and sad moments in their cars, and for Jake and Maggie, the moment you're about to see in the video below, and which we saw on Jalopnik, will never be forgotten.

Fiat Threatens to Move Alfa Romeo Production Out of Italy

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 12:33 PM PDT

What would you say if Alfa Romeos were made in the U.S.? Well, this may not be such improbable as it sounds, as Fiat and Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has threatened to move Alfa Romeo production out of Italy.

The Fiat-Chrysler Alliance executive said new Alfa Romeo models may be produced outside of Italy because of the country's labor rules that hinder Alfa's ability to compete with rivals such as BMW. Fiat has put new investment on hold in its home country in an attempt to convince the Italian government to adopt reforms that will introduce clearer work rules.

Scoop: Nissan Tests New Golf Rival in Europe, Looks Exactly Like the Tiida/Versa/Pulsar…

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 12:02 PM PDT

For over a year now, Nissan officials have been saying in interviews that the Japanese brand is ready to return to the popular European C-segment with a brand-new hatchback model "exclusively designed for Europe", which will go head on with the king of sales in the category, the VW Golf, now in its seventh iteration.

Today, our spies emailed us these images of what they believe to be the new compact hatchback Nissan has been talking about all these months. Now, while the lightly camouflaged prototypes looks to be the right size for a compact hatchback, it isn't exactly new nor a European-exclusive design, as the brand's head honchos have claimed.

GM May Start Selling Rebadged Peugeot Vans in the US

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 11:30 AM PDT

In Europe, aside from its familiar range of cars for carrying people that are definitely more well-known, PSA Peugeot Citroen also has a successful commercial vehicles division with a range of its own. These PSA vans and light trucks are prevalent on European roads, where they are appreciated for being hardy and affordable vehicles powered by efficient diesel engines.

However, it seems that the French may be able to expand their van-selling horizons, through their GM connection, into the US where the vehicles would get a local badge (we say GMC, but it could just as easily be Chevrolet) and be sold through existing dealers.

EVO Drag Races Audi RS4 Against RS6 and…Nissan GT-R

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 11:06 AM PDT

Back in the days of the old-gen Audi RS6 (Avant or sedan), the one with the twin-turbo V10 engine, it honestly appeared as if no roomy performance model would ever top it in terms of sheer power and performance.

However, now that the model has been ditched in favor of a less-powerful V8-powered model, the crew over at EVO magazine decided to make sure it was still as fast as an RS6 deserves to be, first pitting it against its smaller brother, the RS4, and then a Nissan GT-R.

Busted: The Next Generation Bugatti Veyron Exclusive That Never Was…

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 10:46 AM PDT

We hate to be the bearers of bad news for some, but if you happened to see these "exclusive" pictures of the "next generation Bugatti Veyron" over at Carbuzz, as Carscoops reader Kostik M. did and told us about it in an email, we feel the need to inform you that they're not real.

The blog noted in its piece that, "these exclusive images sent to us by a source close to the French carmaker gives us a first look at what Bugatti has in store for the next-generation Veyron. Whether these come direct from Bugatti's drawing table or are an interpretation based on information the tipster has gleaned is unclear."

Jaguar to Release its First SUV in 2015, Says Report

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 10:05 AM PDT

The current Jaguar lineup is well represented in the upper luxury segments, but it lacks some models that would help it increase sales, more specifically a BMW 3-Series rival and an SUV.

While Jaguar's compact sedan, rumored to be called the XS, is under development, it looks like the UK carmaker is not wasting time with the SUV either. According to a report from Auto Express, Jaguar's SUV is currently in its advanced design stages, with sales to begin by 2015.

Why It Took Jaguar 52 Years to Get from E-Type to F-Type

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 07:43 AM PDT

It is completely understandable why Jaguar would want to remake the E-Type every time it builds a two-seater sports car (at least to some degree...), because it is without a doubt, to this day, their most renowned model, and has received praise from everybody, including Enzo Ferrari, and still turns heads today.

However, up until the recent launch of the F-Type they never even got close to "reviving the spirit" in any way. As the Edmunds video below says, it took them 52 years to finally be able to make a car about which they can state with certainty that it is linked to the beloved classic.

New Fiat 500L Pro for Professionals Doesn't Really Make Any Sense….

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 07:21 AM PDT

In your opinion, what changes to a regular passenger car like the Fiat 500L minivan justify a "professional" or a commercial moniker? If you ask us, some basic requirements would be base-specification model that would do away with the rear seat bench and gain a net to separate the front passenger from the rear compartment as well as blacked out or covered rear windows. The Fiesta Van is a good example. Read more »

Watch an Impala Jump Into a Toyota Land Cruiser to Escape a Cheetah!

Posted: 11 Jul 2013 06:03 AM PDT

A freaky accident with an impala jumping through the open window of a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV (note to self: if you ever go to a safari, keep all windows closed) to escape from a pair of hungry and extremely fast cheetahs, took place in Kruger National Park, South Africa.

Not that we would ever want to share our car with a wild animal like an Impala, but it could have been much worse for the occupants of this Land Cruiser if one of the wild cats had decided to follow and corner the African antelope in the Japanese SUV…
