Future Cars: Subaru Plays it Safe with New 2015 Legacy

Posted: 22 Jul 2013 05:10 PM PDT

When looking over the most recent batch of spy-photos showcasing the next generation Subaru Legacy, my first response was to head-butt the keyboard - repeatedly.

See, while the current version appears nice, it doesn't really grab one's attention and encompasses odd styling elements with its over-sized wheel arches and bulbous headlamps. Subaru had the chance to hit a home run with the upcoming 6th generation mid-sizer, however on first appearances it seems they've taken the conservative route as illustrated here.

To answer our own question, yes, that is indeed a vehicle literally preparing for lift-off, which you see in the above screenshot – just don't ask us to identify the brand and model because it happened so fast, that we barely see that it's an automobile. Read more »

Posted: 22 Jul 2013 03:50 PM PDT

The debate has been raging on among those who appreciate the Alfa Romeo brand, ever since the pretty 159 was taken out of production, but not replaced with an all-new model, as it was promised: will it or won't it be rear-wheel driven.

This matter alone has been the subject of many insider reports all of which stated that the Italian automaker was thinking it over and was leaning one way or another, and while most of them seemed plausible, so far only those regarding the co-development of the Mazda MX-5 and Alfa Spider have been officially confirmed.

Racecar Driver from San Jose Jailed for Drunk Driving During Race

Posted: 22 Jul 2013 03:31 PM PDT

The diverse forms of motorsport attract different types of people, and while F1 drivers are fit young men around which the cockpit of the car is built and get millions in sponsorships, the further you go down, the further away that seems… Sure, money may be tighter, and the crowds less aristocratic, but one still expects at least a modicum of respect from the drivers, both for one another, their chosen discipline and the aforementioned spectators. It is only a matter of time before BMW brings out the big guns with the M-badged version of the new generation X5 SUV, which was revealed to the world in standard and M Sport package trims at the end of May.

Carscoops reader Mark A. who snapped these photos of a camouflaged X5 in Las Vegas has some doubts whether this is the M model or someone playing tricks with wraps, but we can assure him that if anything, this looks like a genuine BMW prototype.

What better way to please Russian crowds at a Formula 1 demonstration than having a crash? This is how Ferrari's endurance driver Kamui Kobayashi could have explained to his bosses the rather embarrassing crash from Sunday's Moscow City Racing rally.

You can take a look at the gallery below and judge for yourself whether Seat has done a nice job in converting the Leon into an estate (for the record, we find it elegant in an Audi kind of way), so we'll concentrate on the information provided by the Spanish carmaker beginning with its overall length of 4.54 meters (178.74 inches), which equals to a 277mm (10.9 inches) increase in length over the five-door hatch.

Guys Have Some Fun with Bentley Rolls-Royce Flying Spur Chrysler Driver [NSFW]

Posted: 22 Jul 2013 10:58 AM PDT

When Chrysler introduced the modern era 300 sedan back in 2004, a number of people detected certain styling similarities with Rolls-Royce and to a lesser degree, Bentley models as well, with many tuners and individuals going as far as using the Pentastar saloon as a base for cloning the British limousines.

You've likely seen many of them on these pages over time – if you haven't, you can take a look at these samples here and here. Unless you don't go out much or don't follow the automotive industry that closely, it's very easy to spot these replicas. When you combine a Chrysler 300 body with Rolls-Royce Phantom styling and Bentley badges, you kind of make it easy even for the uninitiated…

Yes, the spanking new Ferrari LaFerrari was revealed in the flesh back in March and the 2013 Geneva Motor Show, so there's really no reason for the Italians to be hiding the car under multiple wraps of black plastic even for testing, but this video, courtesy of YouTube's Marchetinno that we found on Jalopnik, is all about the exotic supercar's acceleration sounds rather than its looks. If this video is genuine and not made up, we could have one of the worst ever passengers to travel with in your ride - a 30 year old wife with the tantrum of a spoiled five-year old…

The phone camera clip starts with the young woman (we assume the hissy fit began earlier in order for the man named James to film it) yelling: "You know, I do all my shit to have a Saturday to hang out with my husband and yet all your shit is all we do," to which her remarkably calm husband replies, "All I want to do is get my tires rotated."
