Fresh Videos of McLaren P1 XP2R Prototype and an Official Response On What It Is Posted: 19 Jul 2013 03:29 PM PDT When we shared pictures and a video of a silver McLaren P1 tester wearing a pair of discreet stickers that read "XP2R Prototype Vehicle", shot by our spy photographers on the 'Ring the other night, we admitted that, besides the red calipers, there was nothing different about this car over the Geneva show model and that we didn't know what it was. NAIAS Exec Says Detroit's Bankruptcy Won't Impact Show in Any Way Posted: 19 Jul 2013 03:04 PM PDT At the same time that a Michigan state judge challenged the legality of Detroit's bankruptcy ruling the filing unconstitutional and ordering the city to withdraw said petition, in what looks to be a very lengthy legal battle that will continue for months, the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) organizers came out with a statement attributed to Executive Director Rod Alberts. You can read it in full below, but as an appetizer, Alberts says that Detroit's bankruptcy was in the making for years and that given the city's situation (and by that, he means the towering debt and limited tax revenue), it was "a good decision". Mazda Sees No Need for European Plant Even Though Sales Are on the Rise Posted: 19 Jul 2013 01:53 PM PDT Mazda says it doesn't need to build cars in Europe, despite the fact that its sales in the region are rising. Son Finds Dad's Long Lost 1972 Mustang MACH 1 and Gives Him Surprise of a Lifetime Posted: 19 Jul 2013 12:59 PM PDT This is one of those stories that makes grown men find excuses of the sort "you won't believe what happened; dust just blew from the window and landed straight into my eyes!". You'll soon see what we mean by that. It all begins in 1972 when Rick Lookebill brought his first ever car, a brand-new Ford Mustang MACH 1, which he kept until 1989, when he was forced to sell it, and continues in 2013, when his son managed to track down the muscle car and returned it to his dad in an admittedly, very emotional handover. EVO Teases McLaren F1 vs. Supercars from the Past Piece Posted: 19 Jul 2013 12:05 PM PDT With the prevalence of the internet the past decade or so, car fans find that it's increasingly hard to justify buying a print magazine nowadays, but there are always exceptions to the rule. EVO Magazine, for instance, has captured our petrol-fueled appetite for powerful cars with its latest issue that's on sale now and which pits the still almighty and famed McLaren F1 against a crop of exotic rivals that including, the Ferrari F40 and F50, Porsche Carrera GT, Noble M600, Pagani Zonda and Lamborghini Murcielago LP670-4 SV. Spy Shots: 2014 Land Rover Discovery / LR4 Lightly Updated, May Get Supercharged V6 Posted: 19 Jul 2013 11:39 AM PDT It's been a little over two years since Land Rover applied any noteworthy upgrades to its Discovery, also known as the LR4 in North America, mainly with the fitment of an 8-speed automatic across the range and a raft of technology and comfort system updates, so the British automaker wants to polish up its luxury SUV with a mild facelift to improve sales. Dacia Creates Duster Goodwood Festival of Speed Special Black Edition. Posted: 19 Jul 2013 11:00 AM PDT "Huh?" was our first reaction upon reading about Dacia's new Duster Black Edition, not because of how it looks – it's not bad actually, but because Renault's Romanian brand somehow managed to form a connection to the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Oh, Tokyo: This Guy Thinks He Can Stop a Train with His Hands Posted: 19 Jul 2013 10:34 AM PDT After a careful examination of this video documented incident from Japan, we decided to give this Tokyo train worker an "A" for the effort, work ethics, and dedication, but an arguably generous "F" for his touch with reality and safety measures. Three New Mini Concepts for Happy Campers are a Blast from April Fools' Day Past [160 Photos] Posted: 19 Jul 2013 06:30 AM PDT MINI and the BMW Group in general, have been quite active during April Fools' Day over the past few years having developed real-life models, such as the BMW M3 Pickup Truck. Being that it takes a lot of effort, time and money to create these elaborate hoaxes, you won't be one bit surprised to learn that the Bavarian group finds more uses for these cars later in their life. The reason why we're telling you all this has to do with a new release from Mini about three concept cars for "the enthusiastic traveler". While the British carmaker doesn't mention it, at least one of the studies is from a 2012 April Fools' Day hoax, while the other one is very similar to a concept shown in the same release. Allan McNish Tries to Convince Us that the Audi SQ5 TDI Doesn’t Feel Like an SUV in Corners Posted: 19 Jul 2013 06:22 AM PDT The Audi SQ5 TDI is the first S model fitted with a diesel engine in the history of Audi. Powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel engine developing 308 horsepower (313 PS), the SQ5 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.1 seconds and can reach an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). Having a diesel under the hood also means that average fuel economy is very reasonable for an SUV – 7.2 liters/100 km (32.7 US mpg) to be exact. Read more » |

This is the All-New 2014 Honda Fitt – Jazz, Hybrid Version 35% More Fuel Efficient [63 Photos] Posted: 19 Jul 2013 05:22 AM PDT The guessing game on whether last month's scans of the Honda Fit (also known as the Jazz) were real or not ended today as the Japanese carmaker came out with an official release and photos of its new subcompact model that will first go on sale in its home market this September, and then the rest of the world. Whereas the new Fit retains its semi-tall hatchback stature, the third generation model's styling strays away from the looks of the first two iterations featuring more complex exterior lines combined with a sharper looking front end and a rear that will remind some of Volvo's crossovers. The interior is also new and comes with more geometrical shapes and harder lines, along with fresh comfort and technology features such as the full-touchscreen controls on the center console. Honda said that in Japan, the new Fit will launch in September in three flavors, a 1.3-liter unit delivering 100PS (99hp), a 1.5-liter engine producing 132PS (130hp) and a hybrid version fitted with a 1.5-liter Atkinson cycle (high expansion ratio cycle) engine.
