Just to mention a few, it looks a whole lot better, thanks to the edgier and more well received (especially on the Mazda6) Kodo design language, while also benefiting from Mazda's suite of SkyActive technology comprising lightweight engines, transmissions, body and chassis.

Frisky Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX MR Gets POV Test Drive

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 04:37 PM PDT

While the crew over at Winding Road Magazine usually specializes in doing POV test drives for the more interesting of new cars, occasionally feature a nice older ride, to reminds us of just how toned down cars are becoming nowadays.

Compare virtually any modern car with its older self, and you will begin to see that the inevitable progress of the industry has rendered its dashboard soft, along with its responses to your inputs. The same applies to sounds – I don't really understand why all cars are getting so quiet (well, I see the point for family rides, but not for sports cars), but it seems to be an industry obsession.

Tesla’s Supercharger Is Free Only for 85kWh Models, Otherwise It Costs $2,000

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 05:15 PM PDT

The modern business and industry jungle adopts many techniques to convince people to buy a product.

There are also those techniques that make you buy a product you don't really want, and eventually begin to feel its unsatisfactory nature, and slowly wake up from the ad man-induced trance, realizing that you spent $49 on another food blender you didn't need, even if its Teflon-coated blade is sharper than ever, and its motor can chew through coconuts – it's still a food blender, even if the company calls it the Super Food Master Chef Express 5000.

Being a spectator at a rally or hill climb event is not a hard thing to do. As a basic rule, you just have to listen to your survival instincts and everything will be all right. Needless to say, of all the stupid actions a spectator can do, crossing the course or standing on the road at the wrong time is the most dangerous. Read more »

Jay Leno Has Fun In New and Old Cop Cars

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 11:55 AM PDT

Little boys' fascination with police cars does make genuine sense, but not necessarily because they believe in upholding the law or anything noble like that. I think it has to do with all of the gadgets they get, and their cool look all painted up with their specific liveries, as well as the fact that they can be driven quickly legally. Read more »

Flooded Russian Underpass Looks Fun...From the Outside

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 11:07 AM PDT

I don't know about you, but If I drove my car up to a road crossing under a bridge and it was flooded with knee-height water, I would just stop, turn around and take my time-losses on the street.

Of course, you could do as these Russian drivers did when they were confronted with the aforementioned scenario and roll the dice on whether you'll be fishing for your front bumper, pushing your car or being lucky and making it across the artificial river dry and in one piece.

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 10:20 AM PDT

The best thing about the Transformers movie series is catching a glimpse of the new vehicle characters before the film hits theaters. According to some, the worst thing is actually watching the movies, though, opinions may vary on this one….

Back to the pre-viewing part of this story, while cruising around GM's Proving Grounds center in Michigan in search for prototypes, our spies were surprised to see a filming crew for the upcoming Transformers 4 blockbuster, and together, an assortment of new Autobots, including the new Bumblebee dressed in a 2014 Camaro Coupe suite.

Besides the trademark yellow and black color scheme, the new Bumblebee model sports a slightly different front end than the facelifted 2014 Camaro with an even tighter grille and headlamp assembly plus a restyled bumper, along with a fixed rear spoiler, a grounds kit and a vented rear bumper.

The addition of a fixed hardtop to the F-Type's body should only make Jaguar's compact sports car even better and lighter than the roadster version, but the British company's engineers still need to calibrate, make the necessary changes and test the car before they release it to the public, something that should happen late next year.

Today, Carscoops reader Timo tipped us off about a video of a camouflaged Jaguar F-Type Coupe releasing its horses on the Nürburgring racetrack.

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 08:04 AM PDT

So, what if Bugatti wanted to enhance its range with a different (see smaller and more affordable) supercar than the famed Veyron, what would that model be and look like?

BMW Showcases "The Great 8", Their Flagship Coupe of the 1990s

Posted: 02 Jul 2013 07:40 AM PDT

While the BMW 8-Series wasn't a big commercial success, it was one of those interesting cars which was bound to gather a following in future years, simply because it represents an odd car from a very serious, traditional manufacturer that never strays too far from its core design philosophy of the era.

Dubbed the "Great Eight" by some, the GT coupe was a very sleek-looking BMW, and for many, the looks and the rarity factor alone are/were what drew them to the car in the first place.
