Oh My Roll! Woman Falls from Car on Korean Highway and Walks Away! Posted: 23 Jul 2013 05:16 PM PDT We've witnessed some pretty crazy and freaky stuff in dash-cam videos from all over the world, but for real now, this clip simply blew our minds away… So much so that we had to watch it over and over again, rubbing our eyes in the process to make sure that what we're seeing is real. What was it that happened in this incident to grasp our full attention, which to be honest, has been hijacked by all those Russian cams? How about a woman falling from a speeding car on a South Korean expressway? Read more » |
VW Taigun Small SUV May Launch in 2016, New Photos Released Posted: 23 Jul 2013 04:30 PM PDT Volkswagen officials have given the green light for the Taigun small crossover, which will launch in 2016, if all goes according to plan. VW sources broke the news to Autoweek, with the report also stating that the Taigun is unlikely to be sold in the U.S. due to its compact dimensions and three-cylinder gasoline and diesel engine lineup. First Photos of New BMW i3 Electric Hatch in Final Production Guise Posted: 23 Jul 2013 04:05 PM PDT When BMW released pricing for the new battery-powered i3 the other day, it had told us to wait until next Monday, July 29, for the world premiere of the car at parallel events in London, New York and Beijing, to see it in final production trim with no camouflage. It appears that not everyone agreed on the date, with the Dutch team over at Autoblog.nl releasing a full set of low-resolution images of the electric supermini. Read more » |
Scoop: New BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe Go on a Date on the 'Ring Posted: 23 Jul 2013 03:23 PM PDT The M3 Coupe is dead (the last one rolled off the assembly line earlier this month). Long live the new M3 Sedan (F31 for BMW employees and fans alike) and the M4 Coupe (codenamed F32). By now, everyone should know that BMW has reshuffled its designations with the 3-Series Coupe christened the new 4-Series. What you might not be fully aware of is that the 4-Series is to the 3-Series exactly what the 3-Series Coupe was to its sedan counterpart - go figure… Naturally, the same applies to the halo versions of the two separate model series, the M3 Sedan and the M4 Coupe, both of which put on their black and white outfits and went for a date on the illustrious Nürburgring track for their final stages of development. The two cars share their platform, aerodynamic kits and powertrain, so there's no point in talking about them separately. The M3 and M4 will be lighter and brawnier than their respective predecessors with one of the main changes being the introduction of a brand new 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six, based on BMW's next generation B58 family of engines. The Story of a Very Special 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 Spider Posted: 23 Jul 2013 02:35 PM PDT Classic Ferraris have been going for crazy prices at auctions in recent years, and more of them seem to be restored as we move on in time, despite the considerable associated costs and the high-rarity factor. For most of these hand-beaten shapes, the incentive is of course the high likelihood of a good return on investment – the latter is the actual word Ferrari itself uses. Read more » |
Those, My Dear Watson, Aren't Firecrackers… Posted: 23 Jul 2013 02:00 PM PDT Adding to the many dangers now confronting pedestrians in Russia, are electric cables and crane trucks. Allow us to explain. The sparkles you see in the above screenshot aren't the result of a cheeky prankster, but of a truck with a hoisted crane that hooked an electrical cable bringing it down to the road and the zebra crossing. Arden Shows New 2014 Range Rover AR9 and First Upgrades for Jaguar F-Type Posted: 23 Jul 2013 01:25 PM PDT If you never understood the rationale behind buying an expensive SUV that's built to be capable off-the-road only to spend a boatload more money to….wipe away its off-road capabilities and turn it into something that closely resembles a performance estate, then you may as well skip this post altogether because that's precisely what Arden is proposing for the latest Range Rover model. SUV a Priority for New Seat CEO, Sports Car a Big No Posted: 23 Jul 2013 01:02 PM PDT Jurgen Stackmann, the new Chairman of Seat, has said that an SUV is high on his list of priorities and may be launched as soon as 2014. "The upcoming trend is definitely that SUVs will play a role. Is an SUV an interesting model for Seat? Yes, of course," Stackmann told British car magazine Auto Express. Seat's first SUV, which was previewed in 2011 by the IBX Concept (pictured here), is likely to be based on the new Leon. Read more » |
Matt Farah Buys a Low-Mileage DeLorean Sitting in a Barn Since Mid '80s Posted: 23 Jul 2013 12:40 PM PDT If you want a rare mid-engined classic that is not all that expensive, yet retains a certain exclusivity and has eye-catching styling, the DeLorean is definitely an option. Made famous all around the world through cinema, the car itself never came to fully realize the dream of John DeLorean, and only around 9,200 examples were manufactured in 1981 and 1982, of which around 6,500 are believed to still be in existence. Seat Lugo is a Leon-Based Design Study for a Small Coupe Posted: 23 Jul 2013 12:05 PM PDT Cheeky marketing directors may have had their way in naming the three-door version of the new Seat Leon a Sport Coupe (SC), but a shorter wheelbase and a slightly more raked and lower roofline doesn't really justify the coupe moniker for what is, for all intents and purposes, a hatchback model. Mercedes-Benz Looking to Expand Range of FWD Cars from 2018, CEO Says Posted: 23 Jul 2013 11:39 AM PDT The launch of the third-generation A-Class and the new CLA sedan that uses the same platform marks Mercedes' latest offensive on the front-wheel drive premium compact car front. However, it looks like the German carmaker is planning even more FWD models in the future, as Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche recently confessed. He said that the carmaker might expand its front-wheel-drive lineup when the second generation of Mercedes-Benz compact cars launches in 2018. "We are considering the final portfolio of the next generation of our compact cars. We have to define it and we may expand the portfolio," Zetsche told Automotive News. Read more » |
Spy Shots: McLaren Continues Development of MP4-12C with Facelift Model Posted: 23 Jul 2013 11:07 AM PDT Yearly updates seem to be in McLaren's agenda for the MP4-12C as the British firm has been spotted doing the rounds on the Nürburgring in a partially camouflaged prototype of the Spider version of its entry-level supercar. Only the front end is covered leading us to believe that cosmetic makeover may be limited to the nosepiece and possibly the headlamp fixtures, though, that doesn't mean we couldn't see some other minor tweaks in the form of new alloy wheels, and even select trim and technology revisions for the interior. Toyota Taxi Driver Panics After Being Chased by Scooter Riders, Chaotic Scene Ensures Posted: 23 Jul 2013 10:35 AM PDT Taiwan is quickly ascending our list of favorite countries to watch dash-cam filmed incidents - but don't worry Russia, you're still the number one in our hearts and how can you not be with clips like this and this. But let's get back to Taiwan and this video filmed on Keelung Road in Taipei. For a long time now, there's a battle brewing between motorists in cars and trucks and scooter riders in the country – you can probably blame both, though, the videos we've seen point to a rather chaotic situation when it comes to motorcycles users who sprout from left and right (see the second video). New Datsun Go Envisioned with Two Less Doors Posted: 23 Jul 2013 09:14 AM PDT Nissan resurrected its Datsun brand some three decades after putting it to sleep with one purpose: to build cheap cars for emerging market such as the entire Southeast Asia region, India, Russia, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa. The re-born automaker's first product is the Go, a Nissan Micra-based, five-door supermini that will carry a sub-400,000 rupee (US$6,700 / €5,100) starting price when it goes on sale in India later this year. Maserati Tries to Fascinate us with New Ghibli Promo, But Doesn’t Quite Get There… Posted: 23 Jul 2013 07:34 AM PDT While some automakers are finding increasingly clever means of promoting their cars, there are still those who really take great enjoyment in doing everything by the proverbial book, even with all the inherent downsides. It doesn't really get more cliché than throwing together a bunch of driving shots with juxtaposed sound that never matches, featuring always good-looking business men and patronized women in the passenger's seat, and generally selling the image of what the company thinks the ideal buyer is like. Spy Shots: Jaguar Brewing a Hot Cup of Tea with XFR-S Sportbrake Posted: 23 Jul 2013 07:01 AM PDT Gentlemen, get your cheque books ready because Jaguar engineers are working on one of its most special family-orientated models ever; the XFR-S Sportbrake, which our spies nabbed testing just outside the Nürburgring track. Jaguar's chief designer Ian Callum, has confirmed on multiple occasions the brand's commitment to introduce an "R" version of the new XF Sportbreak, powered by the same 503hp (510PS) 5.0-liter supercharged V8 as the XFR sedan. ¿Habla Usted Español: Video Review of 2014 Mazda3 Hatch Posted: 23 Jul 2013 05:21 AM PDT Well, that was fast. Less than a month after Mazda afforded us our very first official look at its promising next generation compact hatch with the release of photos, and the first video reviews have started popping up on the web. That's the good news. The bad news is that if you don't speak or understand Spanish, you'll have to be content with the visuals and the sounds of this video review from Spanish magazine Autopista that took the 2014 Mazda3 hatchback for a quick spin during the European presentation. Bentley Officially Green Lights SUV, Sales Begin in 2016 Posted: 23 Jul 2013 04:52 AM PDT The idea of a Bentley SUV didn't seem all that popular with automotive journalists, following the unveiling of the questionably-styled EXP 9 F concept at the 2012 Geneva motor show, but even the people who are most familiar with the scene cannot in complete accuracy predict which models will sell and which won't. However, this time the tepid opinions of the journalists came in contrast with reality as Bentley confirmed that it will proceed with the development of the SUV, which will reach showrooms across the world in 2016.
