New BMW 4-Series Coupe with Dab of M Performance Parts

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 07:36 PM PDT

Most of the buzz around BMW's booth at the Frankfurt Messe is concentrated on the production iterations of the all-electric i3 hatchback and the plug-in hybrid i8 sports coupe, but there's plenty more to see as the Bavarian firm brought along a number of new cars for their world premiere, including the 4-Series Coupe. Audi Sport Quattro Concept Pays Tribute to 1980s Rally Legend [69 Photos]

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 07:08 PM PDT

What do we have here; is the Sports Quattro a concept meant to prepare us for a production car or a pure flight of fantasy to get the crowd coming in to Audi's Frankfurt Motor Show stand?

Tough question, especially since Audi pulled the same stunt with the almost identical in philosophy and design, but mechanically different, Quattro Concept in 2010. It was supposed to be built but never was – and you know the saying, "once bitten, twice shy"…

Audi Mulling a Production Version of Nanuk Quattro Concept! [w/Video]

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 06:15 PM PDT

We will agree that the styling of the Audi Nanuk Quattro Concept might not be to everyone's taste, but the idea of a high-riding, mid-engine sports car that can be used all-year round by those who live in snow-belt regions or simply in places with poor road conditions, does sound compelling, doesn't it? IAA: Lamborghini Gallardo Continues Life with LP 570-4 Squadra Corse Edition

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 05:20 PM PDT

The rumored debut of a concept previewing the Gallardo's replacement turned out to be just that; a rumor. Instead, what Lamborghini had to offer to Gallardo fans was another limited edition version, this one named the LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. And before you build your hopes up on getting one, let us tell you that it will cost €191,100 (equal to about 254,000 McDonald cheeseburgers in the U.S.), and that's before taxes. Read more »

Volvo Coupe Concept is a Strong Contender for the Best Looking Car of the Frankfurt Motor Show

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 04:53 PM PDT

We haven't hidden the fact that we like Volvo's design direction with the new Coupe Concept that's on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and these live pictures from the brand's stand only strengthen our belief that company execs should give it a green light for production - wouldn't you agree? (If you don't just tell us in the comments). Read more »

Suzuki-Powered Caterham Seven 165 Says No To Fat Wheels in Frankfurt

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 04:15 PM PDT

One of the main reasons why the Toyota GT86 and its derivatives are such a joy to drive are they can be tossed around. Sometimes, these cars are intentionally fitted with non-grippy eco tires to lose traction easily, but do so in a gradual fashion so as not to startle the driver – this means it's fun for drivers of varying skill levels, in the sense that it's flattering for noobs and rewarding for those who have had experience with similar equipment before. Citroën C-Elysée Wears Its Bad Boy WTCC Costume for the Frankfurt Motor Show

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 03:42 PM PDT

Will those of you who disagree with us when we say that the regular Citroën C-Elysée is a big French "meh" please raise your hands? We thought so... And that's precisely the reason why Citroën chose its lackluster compact saloon to represent the marque in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014, even though, whatever makes the C-Elysée WTCC a cool car is absent from the production model. EU-Spec Kia Optima Facelift Makes Frankfurt Debut, On Sale in Early 2014

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 02:58 PM PDT

The current shape Kia Optima has really won a following all of its own in the US, where its good looks, and powerful turbocharged petrol engines make it a firm favorite – the fact that they sell it as a hybrid helps too. Read more »

New Sportsvan is Volkswagen's Longer, Taller and Slightly More Practical Golf

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 02:34 PM PDT

If you were to magically drop into a European VW dealership and check out the brand's compact offerings, you'd find the following options: Golf hatch in 3 and 5-door trims; Golf Plus, Jetta sedan, Golf Variant (estate), Golf Cabriolet, Eos Coupe-Cabriolet, Scirocco coupe, Tiguan SUV, Touran MPV and the Beetle range.

We suppose with a little bit of effort and imagination, you could justify the existence of most aforementioned models, but you'd still be wondering what's with the Golf Plus, which is neither a hatch or a minivan yet tries to be both.

Mercedes-Benz's Sexy Looking S-Class Coupe Concept in the Flesh

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 01:46 PM PDT

The thing with big, luxury Mercedes-Benz coupes is that they feel, look and are priced for people that either have entered or are approaching their golden years. Mercedes is attempting to change that perception (sans the part about the price) with the CL's replacement previewed by the elegantly sporty S-Class Coupe Concept in Frankfurt. Read more »

Renault Initiale Paris Concept Outlines the Next Crossover-ish Espace [w/Video]

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 01:08 PM PDT

The Espace is a name of great historic importance for Renault. It's been almost thirty years since the company with the rhombus logo launched the very successful first-gen model, and now, due to pressure exerted by the industry, they have chosen to rethink the formula behind the model, to keep it relevant in a sea of practical crossovers that are really blurring the lines between the classes of vehicles we've grown accustomed to. The Frankfurt Motor Show hosts the world premiere of Alpina's D3 Bi-Turbo saloon and Touring models based on the current-generation BMW 3-Series. Opel Premieres New Insignia Range in Frankfurt, Announces Engines and Infotainment Updates

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 11:51 AM PDT

It seems that good ideas have a tendency to propagate quickly through the automotive industry. We remember a time when only the Audi A8 had a touchpad that let you draw letters, instead of typing them, and made navigation more interesting (and probably easier too, though we've not tried any such system and cannot say for sure). 597HP Ferrari 458 Speciale Takes Frankfurt by Storm [w/Videos]

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 11:31 AM PDT

Ferrari hasn't been particularly inspired lately in naming its cars. After the awkwardly-named LaFerrari hypercar comes the 458 Speciale, which is the more hardcore version of Ferrari's mid-engined sports car.

The automaker states that the 458 Speciale is much more different than the 458 Italia from which it is derived, than what the previous 360 Challenge Stradale and 430 Scuderia special series were to the 360 Modena and F430, respectively.

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 11:15 AM PDT

Now that we are less than one year away from the start of the new all-electric single-seater racing series, Formula E, it was about time that we saw what the 10 teams and 20 drivers will be using to compete.

Called the Spark-Renault SRT_01E, credits for its design and engineering go to Spark Racing Technology, while as we already knew, McLaren handled the all-electric powertrain bits and battery pack, before Renault puts everything together and does the final safety checks.

All-New Hyundai i10 Promises to be a Big Step Forward for the Brand

Posted: 10 Sep 2013 11:00 AM PDT

The Hyundai i10, the first generation, found lots of loving inner-city homes, in Europe, where its key car-like dimensions meant owners could create gaps and parking spots where before there were none, and also use not that much fuel in the process. Plus, it had surprisingly good handling and was one of the more fun city cars you could get, competing in my mind with the Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo trio for the that title. Read more »

BMW has made itself known over the years for not only making good cars, but also showing the same kind of attention to engineering when it comes to their two-wheeled creations.
