Study Says Classic Cars a Hugely Lucrative Investment, '67 Corvette L88 Sells for $3.2 Million

Posted: 12 Sep 2013 02:59 PM PDT

Gold really has no value other than that which it gains for being an excellent conductor of electricity and heat – it really doesn't, and it's only worth what we collectively agree that it is worth. It's simple, easy to quantify and calculate, based on a number of fixed factors, and we've known about it for millennia.

This pushes some mining corporations to try to justify the use of tens of thousands of tons of cyanide, even blowing up mountains in their entirety is excusable when the shiny is the final product. However, why not give up coveting gold so much, and turn to a different kind of investment – classic cars.

You could say that this cameraman hates it when people dump things out of their cars on the side of the road, and unless this is a Jimmy Twerkoff Kimmel-kind of viral stunt, you could also state that he got his revenge via instant karma. Read more »

With the new and better-looking than its predecessor (in this author's mind, at least) 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class W222 having been on sale for the past couple of months in Europe, it would probably be a stretch to say this is the first ever crashed example, but we can tell you it's the first we've seen. Posted: 12 Sep 2013 12:42 PM PDT

For those of you familiar with the Need For Speed racing game series, you will know that cops have an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) blast at their disposal, which is used to disable the electronics of the cars being chased. Well that's not science fiction at all, and in real life situations, it seems to work in pretty much the same way it did in the game. Read more »

Posted: 12 Sep 2013 12:34 PM PDT

We were expecting the new BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports coupe that made its grand entrance in production trim at the Frankfurt auto show this week to be expensive, but now we know precisely what that means in Benjamin Franklins.

Not taking into account any federal or state incentives for which it may qualify, the 2014 BMW i8 will be priced from $135,700 plus destination and handling fee when it arrives in showrooms across the United States in spring of next year.

GM's Big-Daddy SUVs: 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, and 2015 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL

Posted: 12 Sep 2013 07:09 PM PDT

General Motors was patiently waiting for the press days of the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show to drop the curtains on is redesign crop of big SUVs from the Chevrolet and GMC brands.

The full size SUVs are the 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe and its longer Suburban sibling, and the 2015 GMC Yukon, Yukon Denali and Yukon XL, all of which share common bodies, mechanical and platform components, between themselves and their pickup truck counterparts, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra. And just to make it a bit more confusing, the next Cadillac Escalade will be another by-product of the series…

Using a traditional body-on-frame architecture that makes them tougher and more capable when it comes to tackling off-road trails and hauling trailers, GM's new duo of full-size SUVs sport fresh styling inside and out, newer and more fuel efficient EcoTec3 engines and a greater range of technologies.

The GMC Yukon, especially in Denali trim, is hands down the better looking of the crop, thanks to its more modern and expressive front end, side and rear trims. While the bodies are identical, Chevrolet went for a more utilitarian look on the front with an odd choice of headlamps that immediately bring to mind the latest Ford Explorer

AMG-Powered Aston Martins Could Arrive in Three to Four Years, Says Report
