Edmunds gets Behind the Wheel of New Cadillac CTS V-Sport Posted: 17 Sep 2013 05:40 PM PDT The BMW 5-Series F10 is still (probably) at the top of its class in many areas, including performance, handling and all the rest. However, it seems to have been far too easy for Cadillac to make an eerily comparable car, in the form of the CTS. With the V-Sport, GM's luxury arm directly targets the V8-powered BMW 550i, despite wading into battle slightly down on displacement and with two less cylinders – who would have thought that the American car would have the smaller engine capacity… Read more » |
Grand Theft Auto 5 Reviews Are Out, Looks Like it Was Worth the Wait! [w/Videos] Posted: 17 Sep 2013 04:58 PM PDT To fans of the Grand Theft Auto fans around the world, we say: the wait is over! The fifth installment of the series that needs no introduction was just released by Rockstar Studios, for the current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles which it really pushes in terms of hardware capability. One wonders how they are still able to run it as well as the reviews say they do, given their age and obvious technical limitations. However, despite still being responsive on the same two rigs as its five year-old predecessor, it looks better and more polished, with even more detail and expansiveness built in - a much better optimization job than before, perhaps? Spy Shots: New Mercedes-Benz C-Class Convertible in the Making Posted: 17 Sep 2013 04:05 PM PDT After the demise of the CLK nameplate, which in essence, was a C-Class dressed to look like it belonged to the larger E-Class family, Mercedes split its two-door offerings in two, with the C-Class getting a coupe model in 2011, and the E-Class gaining both a coupe and a convertible. Meet the Four Craftsmen who Build Nissan GT-R Engines [w/Video] Posted: 17 Sep 2013 03:35 PM PDT Did you know that only four people are allowed to build engines for Nissan's most powerful production car, the GT-R? They are all Japanese and are respectfully called "takumi", a word that describes a master craftsman who has perfected his skills over many years of hard work and dedication. Read more » |
American Couple Owns the Largest Collection of Vipers, 65 of Them! Posted: 17 Sep 2013 03:06 PM PDT Amassing a Jay Leno-esque collection of cars is hard not to justify as the ultimate car guy's dream, but for me at least, it's definitely down to the diversity, and the wide span of years that he has managed to cover. However, there are people who just like one specific car more than other models, and they buy a lot of them, picking which to take out based on color. Read more » |
Fiat Bets on "Made in Italy" Tag to Lure Maserati and Alfa Romeo Customers Posted: 17 Sep 2013 02:46 PM PDT Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne wants to transfer the glamour of Italian luxury clothes to its Maserati and Alfa Romeo brands by benefitting from the "Made in Italy" tag. The two brands are currently in the middle of a reinventing process, with Fiat aiming to capitalize on Italian manufacturing to promote new vehicles like the Maserati Ghibli and Alfa Romeo 4C. GM Wants to go After Tesla with New Electric Model Posted: 17 Sep 2013 01:58 PM PDT No electric cars in the last decade have done as much for EVs as the Tesla Model S, with the exception perhaps of General Motors' EV1 two-seater, which in its day, was highly advanced, and actually I think more futuristic than the highly-praised sedan is by today's standards. BMW Driver Wedges his 7-Series in a Railway Crossing Barrier Posted: 17 Sep 2013 01:17 PM PDT Here's one more head-scratching accident from, where else, but mother Russia. If you see that there's a problem with a retractable metal blockade that pops up from the road at a railway crossing, and there are people standing around and pushing it down with their feet, what would you do as a driver waiting in line? Why, you would try to go around it, right? Yes, and if anything else, you'd drive slowly. Read more » |
GM on Stand-By for Diesel Variants of New Colorado and Canyon If Rival Offerings Catch On Posted: 17 Sep 2013 12:57 PM PDT General Motors is still not convinced that putting a diesel engine under the hood of their upcoming 2015 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups is the right thing to do, in spite of the fact that Ram's bigger 1500 can already be ordered with one, while the Nissan Titan will be receiving its own too, a US-built five-liter V8. Their restraint is not really understandable, since they already sell the Colorado in diesel configuration outside the US, so the investments associated can't be astronomical. Read more » |
Report Indicates S63 May be the Last 5.5-Liter V8 Twin-Turbo Powered Mercedes-Benz Posted: 17 Sep 2013 12:13 PM PDT The downsizing trend has reached all walks of the automotive industry, as efficiency has become a main concern for all manufacturers regardless of product specifics. City cars' engines are now thought of as big, if they pass the one liter mark, and outdated if they don't have a turbo, while the massive power plants used to lug the top-spec variants of big luxury barges around are also shrinking fast, though here, image is everything. Toyota Gives a Sportier Hint to 2014 Land Cruiser with Modellista Edition Posted: 17 Sep 2013 10:16 AM PDT The global roll-out of the facelifted 2014 Land Cruiser (Prado or regular wheelbase model) continues with the launch of the tough SUV in its local market of Japan, with Toyota also introducing the Modellista Edition. Since the cosmetic tweaks and equipment refinements are common for all Land Cruiser Prado models, we'll just take a quick look at the new Japanese market Modellista Edition, which was created by Toyota's in-house tuning firm. Lexus Uses Tablets and Projectors to Promote New IS Hybrid as Sporty and Fun [w/Video] Posted: 17 Sep 2013 09:45 AM PDT With a combined horsepower output of 220, and a quoted 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 8.3 seconds, the Lexus IS300h was never designed to be a performance car. It claws a bit back with its reportedly sharp chassis and good handling, as well as the eye-catching looks, but when it comes to being delivering impressive numbers, this hybrid only delivers them in the economy area alone, and even that comes with an asterisk. Simple Traffic Stop Goes Sour, Was the Cop Out of Line? [NSFW] Posted: 17 Sep 2013 09:02 AM PDT What was initially a routine traffic stop for a license plate violation, took a bitter turn for all parties involved in Washington Township this past Sunday. According to a police report obtained by the Toledo News, Officer Hart pulled over Cassandra Meyers in front of her father-in-law's house and cited her for a license plate violation. At that point, her father-in-law Aaron Tatkowski returned home and noticed the police officer talking to Meyers. The report says he didn't like the way the officer's was talking to the woman and questioned him about his behavior. Read more » |
Nürburgring Record Breaker Marc Lieb Says Porsche 918 Can Do Even Better Posted: 17 Sep 2013 08:37 AM PDT The production-spec Porsche 918 Spyder impressed us all when it managed to do a complete lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under seven minutes in the hands of Mark Lieb, on the morning of September 4. However, when the German racing driver was called up by Drive.com.au just after the run took place, and aside from being thrilled about his 6:57 minute run, he was keen to point out that time for testing was short, and that with even more work lavished on fine tuning, it could be made even faster… Read more » |
BMW X6M Gets the Cam Shaft and Then Some More Posted: 17 Sep 2013 08:09 AM PDT You could say that, controversial looks aside, the BMW X6M is just fine as it is, especially when it comes to performance. Datsun's New GO+ with Up to 7 Seats Won't Win Any Beauty Contests [w/Video] Posted: 17 Sep 2013 06:55 AM PDT Following the introduction of the Datsun GO hatchback earlier this year, Nissan's Asia-focused, low-cost brand has launched its second model, the GO+. Developed primarily for Indonesia, the GO+ is an MPV with a 5+2 seating layout. The design is identical with the GO right up to the rear doors, which are continued by a third lateral window and added metal. It is not a particularly handsome car, but then again, beauty wasn't Nissan main objective with the GO+. Read more » |
New Zealand's Awesome Public Service Ad for Drug-Driving Posted: 17 Sep 2013 06:11 AM PDT Whoever said most public service advertisements (PSA) are unattractive, prudish and often outright boring is probably right, but there are some striking exceptions to the rule, like this new ad made for the New Zealand Transport Agency named "Blazed — Drug-Driving in Aotearoa", with Aotearoa being the most widely known and accepted Māori name for New Zealand. Ford Promotes Barb Samardzich to Continental COO Posted: 17 Sep 2013 05:49 AM PDT Ford has been doing some major reshuffling moves in Europe, to not only wait out the economic depression that is still at large on the continent, but also prepare for when it finally goes away, and people have money to spend on cars, again. The plan is to slightly cut production numbers, but increase the diversity of models on offer in coming years, so that the market gets exactly what it needs and whatever is in highest demand.
