Future Cars: New 2015 Honda Civic Type-R with Close to 300HP Posted: 05 Sep 2013 06:05 PM PDT Usually, when one utters the word 'Type-R', the origin of the spoken trajectory always seems to come from a voice box attached to either a pimply-faced teen or someone that has 'cap-fitting' issues - i.e., the backwards hat brigade. Now, it's easy to stereotype without investigating the actual draw card with this Type-R obsession. That being the bang-for-buck hot Honda's offer: good handling and high revving, VTEC-delivered performance. Read more » |

Ferrari F50 Takes on Ferrari F40 in Dream Comparison Test by Chris Harris Posted: 05 Sep 2013 05:10 PM PDT When it comes to naming a supercar, many of us who were kids in the 1990s (including myself) tend to think about two cars: the Ferrari F40 and Ferrari F50. Both were phenomenal supercars built by the Italian sports car manufacturer to celebrate 4 and 5 decades, respectively, since its founding. Read more » |
Scoop: Is This the Next Kia Sorento or the Cross GT? Posted: 05 Sep 2013 03:40 PM PDT Our spies may be convinced that the prototype seen in these pictures testing in Germany is the new iteration of the Kia Sorento, which is due for a replacement within the next year-and-a-half, but Autoblog.com is citing unnamed internet sources that stated, it's "a rear-wheel-drive CUV that could represent the production version of the Cross GT Concept". Datsun Announces New Model to Be Revealed on September 17 Posted: 05 Sep 2013 03:14 PM PDT The Datsun Go (pictured in the sketch above) was unwrapped not long ago, and judging by the pictures, it's not half-bad-looking, both inside and out. Design-wise, it's clearly a Nissan, and I wonder what inspired them to do draw it up the way they did – a bulldog statuette wearing sunglasses was used as inspiration for the look of the Cube, so really anything goes. Bugatti Galibier Sedan Project is Likely Dead, Says MT Posted: 05 Sep 2013 01:41 PM PDT The Galibier was/is the planned re-entry for the German-owned French brand into the ultra-luxurious sedan niche. Shown in concept form a few times, it set the premise for a very promising road car, that at first was said to be getting around 800 hp, then after a CEO change the figure was reportedly brought up to Veyron levels, so as to stay true to the brand's impressive performance credentials. New InEco Concept Coupe Looks Like a Hyundai Veloster…in Electric Drag [125 Photos & Videos} Posted: 05 Sep 2013 12:26 PM PDT Maybe it's just me, but the first front-quarter profile picture I saw of the InEco Concept car from Germany's TU Dresden Institute of Lightweight Engineering and Polymer Technology made me think that the university folks took a Hyundai Veloster and stunned it with a bolt of electricity. Then I saw the VW Scirocco-esque rear end and jolted back to reality. The InEco is a fully-working concept for a battery-powered, sporty looking compact-sized model with the emphasis being put on making it as light as possible. To achieve its goals, the Dresden university worked together with experts from German companies Leichtbau-Zentrum Sachsen GmbH and ThyssenKrupp AG. Read more » |

Autocar Does Sub Three Seconds to Sixty in a Caterham R620 Posted: 05 Sep 2013 10:20 AM PDT We went into great detail regarding the Caterham Seven R620, its specs and its performance. However, we wondered how all those numbers translated onto the road, and whether or not the car would be too much too handle with its high power output of 311 hp and its 500-ish kg (1,100-ish lbs) weight figure. Five Cars Tested by Euro NCAP; Opel Adam and Mitsubishi Space Star Dissapoint with Four Stars Posted: 05 Sep 2013 07:50 AM PDT As cars have been getting safer, the entities behind the rating systems have been making them increasingly stringent, up to the point where nowadays a four-star car, rated by Euro NCAP is safer or as safe as a five-star car from five years ago. However, it is still expected that most new models will have no trouble in achieving the maximum rating, as all manufacturers now have vast experience in the field of safety and can prepare accordingly. Posted: 05 Sep 2013 07:00 AM PDT Don't be shy, admit it, and yes we're looking at you; upon reading our title and seeing the older-gen Ford Fiesta facing the dashboard camera the wrong way on the German Autobahn, you automatically concluded that the Russian driver of this video was a) to blame, b) driving the Blue Oval's hatch and c) both of the above. Well, guess what? The Russian was the one driving the car with the camera that captured the incident and doesn't appear to be at fault in any way. Read more » |

Mercedes to Reportedly Unveil New S-Class Coupe at Frankfurt Auto Show Posted: 05 Sep 2013 07:15 AM PDT We know what your first question will be about this report: are these illustrations of the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe from Autobild magazine the rear deal or the creative work of an artist from the German publication? They don't exactly look like the work of an independent designer, but then again, you can never be sure these days, plus they're not all the same – you can see differences in the design details and even the shape of the rear-end among them. Since the magazine doesn't clarify, we'll drop some heavy grains of salt around the renderings until we get a definitive answer. Read more » |
