| First Video Reviews of New Maserati Quattroporte, Fiat Says it Counts on Chrysler to Help Brand Posted: 11 Dec 2012 06:13 PM PST  There's no doubt that Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne is an outspoken and ambitious man. Paradoxically, while he succeeded in helping turn Chrysler around, the group's European operations are in trouble. His most recent plan is to use the Chrysler tie-up to boost sales of Maserati. He has quite a tight time-schedule, too: as Maserati CEO Harald Wester said, he wants the Modena-based luxury carmaker to deliver 50,000 vehicles by 2015. Well, that's less than half of what Porsche sells today. At the same time, it's more than eight times the 6,159 cars Maserati shifted in 2011!

However, wanting and being able to obtain the roofless Aventador J Speedster are two different things. Even if you could afford it, Lamborghini only built one specimen that was sold to an unnamed buyer even before we laid our eyes on the car. Read more »   |

Since its inception in 1992, the Modena-based carmaker has introduced only two models; the Zonda and its derivatives in 1999, and its replacement, the still hard to pronounce, Huayra in 2011. | Daewoo Lanos Uses Up One of its Nine Lives Posted: 11 Dec 2012 03:30 PM PST  In today's fix of dascham goodness, we have a Daewoo Lanos sedan that somehow ended up crossing the road in reverse – we say somehow, because from this distance and angle, we're not sure if there was a person behind the wheel or if the car was left unsecured. Whatever the reason or…lack of reason, if you prefer, the white compact saloon backed up on the road and was almost hit by an oncoming car traveling at high speed. Read more »   |

| Posted: 11 Dec 2012 12:26 PM PST  Last year in May, Jaguar told the world of its intention to build a limited run production version of the striking C-X75 hypercar concept that was displayed at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. At the time, Jaguar had said it would offer the car with an advanced hybrid powertrain instead of the concept's futuristic jet-powered setup limiting production to around 250 units. Now we learn that the British carmaker has backtracked on the decision axing the project due to the current global economic crisis. Read more »   |
| Spy Shots: BMW's i8 Hybrid Coupe Shows its Revised Hofmeister kink. Posted: 11 Dec 2012 11:28 AM PST  We were hoping that by the end of this year, BMW engineers would have peeled off most of the camouflage covering their i8 coupe prototypes, but as you can see, that's not going to happen – unless, of course, Munich surprises us over the next couple of weeks. What we do get from these fresh spy shots of the i8 that was captured once again during cold weather testing in Europe is a less obstructed view of the car's upper profile as the company's people removed some of the swirly wraps covering the side windows. | Jaguar-Land Rover Confirms Interest in Building a Plant in Saudi Arabia Posted: 11 Dec 2012 08:59 AM PST  After opening its first assembly plant in India last year and laying the foundations for a new manufacturing facility in China in partnership with Chery Automobile, the Jaguar Land Rover group is now eyeing a new factory in Saudi Arabia. The British carmaker signed a letter of intent with Saudi Arabia's government and the National Industrial Clusters Development Program (NICDP), and will begin a detailed feasibility study immediately to determine the viability of setting up an automotive facility in the country. A burglary suspect in White Settlement, Texas, who was handcuffed and left alone in the rear seat of a Ford Crown Victoria squad car, was able to steal the patrol vehicle and make a successful getaway. Darren Porter, 41, was filmed from another police car parked right behind rolling down the window, opening the door and jumping into the driver's seat before he stole the patrol vehicle! | Skoda Officially Reveals All-New and Sleeker Looking 2013 Octavia III [Updated] Posted: 11 Dec 2012 06:16 PM PST  It's been a long road with plenty of scoops of both camouflaged prototypes and unmarked cars captured during testing and photo shoots, but now the time has come for Skoda to release its third generation of the successful Octavia series, which is seen here in liftback form with an estate model to follow next year. The 2013 Octavia is the first Skoda model to make use of the VW Group's new and lighter MQB platform that underpins several other compact cars, most notably the VW Golf Mk7 and the latest Audi A3 hatchbacks. Compared to the model it replaces, the new Octavia is 90mm longer at 4,659mm, 45mm wider at 1,814mm, and more importantly, the wheelbase has been stretched by 108mm to 2,686mm, something that mainly benefits the interior and space on the rear seats.

| Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Makes its Driving Debut in Beverly Hills Posted: 11 Dec 2012 06:01 AM PST  When Porsche launched the Type 970, aka the Panamera saloon at the 2009 Shanghai Auto Show, it received quite a lot of criticism. Though in no way did it induce the wrath of the press and the public like the Cayenne SUV did, they all agreed that its design was, if not ugly, then certainly heavy-handed. It was an issue that came up in each and every review: the Panamera was praised for its sporty ride, quality interior and ability to transport four adults and a fair amount of luggage but its exterior styling was always the sticking point. Fast forward three years to the 2012 Paris Auto Show and the Panamera Sport Turismo concept. In sharp contrast to the production Panamera saloon, the shooting brake received universal praise for its sleek styling that, the company said, "is an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow". | First Official Photos of 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Sedan and Estate Facelift Posted: 11 Dec 2012 05:11 AM PST  We do not know if Mercedes-Benz was ready to share the revamped E-Class series with us yet, but either way, official imagery of both the sedan and Estate (Wagon in the U.S.) surfaced online today. The E-Class refresh is more extensive than usual with the German brand affording its executive model series a brand new face that does away with the squared looks and the distinctive quad-headlight treatment for two new single-element headlights complete with integrated LED daytime running lights, a new grille with a thicker chrome surround and a restyled bumper.
