| These Were the Web's 10 Most-Watched Auto Commercials of 2012 Posted: 24 Dec 2012 02:08 PM PST  As you may have noticed, the Mayan calendar did not predict the end of the world, after all, as the Earth still keeps spinning – at least at the time of writing these lines... What is coming to an end is the year and it's about time for some 2012 "best of" (and, probably, "worst", too) lists. We figured the world doesn't need another "Car of the Year" award: it has more than enough already as it is and, as a matter of fact, it could do with less, not more. So, how about something more interesting? Car manufacturers have always fought hard to get the customers' attention. | New Dealer-Made Peugeot 208 Rallye Edition Hits the Streets [w/Video] Posted: 24 Dec 2012 01:01 PM PST  It's been three months to the day (September 24, 2012) since Philippe Beaugé, head of the Peugeot dealership Clara Automobile in the French city of Le Mans, first shared with us pictures and details of a newly created edition of the 208 supermini named after and inspired by the famed Rallye models. As a refreshed, the dealer-made Rallye is based on the 208 156 THP Feline model powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine churning out 154hp (156PS) while tipping the scales at a relatively low 1,090kg (2,403 lbs). | New Kia Pro_Cee'd GT with 201HP 1.6-liter Turbo Driven! Posted: 24 Dec 2012 11:04 AM PST  If you've been monitoring the news in the automotive world lately, you will probably be aware of the fact that Kia is completing work on its first hot hatch to take on the likes of the VW Golf GTI – at least in theory – in Europe. In addition to our own scoops, Kia has offered us teaser sketches and preliminary specifications on the GT variant of the five-door Cee'd and the three-door Pro_Cee'd. As it turns out, though, Kia has done much more than that as we were tipped off about a video shot earlier this month in which a one Vadim Ovsiankin has not only filmed a prototype of the Pro_Cee'd GT inside and out, but he also took it for a spin on the road, where we see the sport hatch hitting speeds of up to 180km/h (112mph) on public roads.

| Chevrolet to Offer 2014 Camaro with Corvette Z06's LS7 7.0-liter, 505HP V8? Posted: 24 Dec 2012 10:02 AM PST  A General Motors document published in the Camaro5 forums may shed some light on a new engine option being prepared for the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro. Said document shows the 7.0-liter LS7 V8 engine added to the rest of the Camaro's available powerplants for the 2014 model year. The LS7 is used in the current Corvette Z06, in which it has an output of 505HP and 470 lb-ft (636.5 Nm) of maximum torque. Read more »   |

The GM and Chrysler bailout initiated by Republican President George W. Bush and implemented by his Democrat successor in the White House, Barack Obama, was a political decision rather than one based solely on cold, hard facts. Most European governments are now faced with the same problem due to the debt crisis that has led to a plunging new car market. The French government has already financed PSA Peugeot Citroen; Italians fear that Fiat, whose Italian plants are running way below their minimum capacity, as there is no demand to satisfy, may be forced to close some of them. | This is the New Mercedes-Benz CLA Compact Sports Saloon Posted: 24 Dec 2012 06:10 AM PST  While some people are enjoying Christmas Eve with their families, others are busy posting on forums and leaking official shots of new cars like the Mercedes-Benz CLA compact saloon. A total of five images of the new Mercedes entry-level sedan including three of the exterior and two of the interior made their way online. As was the case with the revealing CLA scoops in Iceland this past September, the car pictured here is a regular model fitted with Mercedes' AMG exterior and interior styling packages and not the CLA 45 AMG, which will feature a similar aero kit but will do away with the "diamond" front grille.
