Uncle Jim's Rowdy Snow Mobile Causes a Mini Avalanche Posted: 25 Dec 2012 06:04 PM PST Sometimes us humans think we can conquer mother nature with our mechanical contraptions, but that's clearly not the case. A one Uncle Jim, and whom we assume to be his nephews, went out to play around in the snow with their rides. When the former tried to climb a slope, he seems to have triggered a mini avalanche that sent both the rider and his snowmobile rolling down the hill. Read more » |
Italian Coachbuilder Mazzanti Presents New Evantra with a 701HP V8 Posted: 25 Dec 2012 04:00 PM PST Last year, almost to the day, we posted a story about a brand new Italian supercar. It wasn't built by a known manufacturer like Ferrari, Lamborghini or Pagani but an upstart company named Mazzanti. The name may not have the kudos of the aforementioned carmakers, but 38-year old Luca Mazzanti's creation, the Evantra, was much more exclusive, since it would be produced in only five examples. Praga R1 is a 207HP, 592 kg Carbon Fiber Track-Day Special Made in Slovakia Posted: 25 Dec 2012 02:30 PM PST A small company builds a racing car around an engine borrowed from an established manufacturer. This description could fit any number of carmakers, such as Ariel or Caterham. The thing is, most of them call the British Isles, not Slovakia, home. Praga Racing is based in Orechová Potôň, a village in Southwest Slovakia with a population of less than 2,000. Don't let this fool you, though, because the company is far more serious and said village is also the place where the Autodrom Slovakia Ring, a track built in 2009 that has hosted FIA World Touring and GT1 championship races, is located. One Ring to Crash Them All and Into Armco Bind Them: Watch 2012’s Nordschleife Accidents Posted: 25 Dec 2012 01:00 PM PST There's a very good reason why Jackie Stewart named the "old" Nürburgring the Green Hell and why Formula 1 doesn't race there any more: it's too bloody dangerous. Still, the Nordschleife track hosts other race series up to this day and is the place where manufacturers hone their latest cars and advertise their lap times, while on certain dates, it is also open to the public. This means that anyone can pay the ticket and drive around the 20.8 km (12.9-mile) circuit. Read more » |
Subaru Announces Debut Models for the 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon, Including Forester and BRZ Concepts Posted: 25 Dec 2012 11:30 AM PST 'Tis the time of the year again - but not for what you're thinking. We're referring to Japanese carmakers and their plans for the upcoming 2013 Tokyo Auto Salon in January. After Nissan, Subaru has come out with a list of vehicles that will adorn its motor show booth in Tokyo next month and which includes a variety of concepts, production and racing cars. Read more » |
Oh, Kenny; Santa Claus' Bike Stunt Goes Terribly Wrong Posted: 25 Dec 2012 09:58 AM PST The Christmas season for some, Holiday season for others, is a time to relax and perhaps have some extra fun, though; one should always remember his or her limits. For example, take this group of motorcyclists, many of whom were dressed up in their Santa Claus costumes, fortunately, with their safety helmets on top of their heads. Read more » |
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Nissan GT-R How I Wonder What You Are Posted: 25 Dec 2012 09:00 AM PST Back in October, Bulgaria's workaholic tuning crew at Vilner presented their first design job for the Nissan GT-R with a Dragon-themed project created for a Chinese client. Vilner has now completed its second GT-R tune, again concentrating on improving the interior of the Japanese sports car but with a different theme this time, one that is highlighted –literally- by what the company describes as the "starry sky ceiling". CarScoop Wishes You a Very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Posted: 25 Dec 2012 07:36 AM PST Some say that editors and contributors on this site have petrol instead of blood flowing in their veins and that they'd rather show you the new Ferrari F150 or the Corvette C7 than spend a night with a bunch of Victoria's Secret angels. All we know is that everyone here at CarScoop wishes you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays and that we will be taking some time off today (don't worry, we've planned some stories) before resuming normal operations. Before we bid thee farewell and warn you to drive safely and, in case you intend to have a drink or two, designate a driver or just leave your car keys at home, there's some breaking news we'd like to share with you. 2014 BMW M4 Coupe Rendered: What do You Think? Posted: 25 Dec 2012 05:43 AM PST BMW's decision to rename the 3-Series Coupe the 4-Series has certainly resulted in a lot of debate. Munich's reasoning is that the Coupe is different enough to its saloon sibling, upon which it is based, to deserve a new designation. Moreover, it adheres to the carmaker's decision to name coupes, convertibles and sportier-looking sedans (think 6 Series Gran Coupe) with even numbers, something that will also be applied to the forthcoming 1-Series Coupe that will be renamed the 2-Series. Does the name change really matter? You betcha; that's because it will also affect the M-Division-fettled range topper of the coupe and possibly convertible range, which will no longer be named the M3 (though, the name will continue with the sedan) but the M4.
