Toyota FJ Cruiser Jumps Sand Dune in Saudi Arabia, Lands Face First and Tumbles Down… Posted: 26 Dec 2012 05:35 PM PST The good thing with hot deserts and sand dunes located near highways is that they're easily accessible by drivers feeling adventurous or who simply want to blow off some steam. On the other hand, this also means that just about anyone driving an SUV or a crossover capable of going off-road can jump off the highway at any time and try whatever comes to mind without taking any precautions or acting in a sensible way. U Spy: Facelifted 2014 Hyundai Equus Luxury Sedan Spotted in California Posted: 26 Dec 2012 04:24 PM PST When CarScoop reader Hunter L. emailed these scoop shots he took of a camouflaged prototype sedan parked in a garage in California, he told us it's likely a 2014 model Hyundai, something we agreed with him, with our first thought going to the new Genesis saloon that we caught off guard testing in Europe earlier this month. While the two prototypes may look similar, upon a more careful examination of the photos and specific details such as the lights, the dashboard and the window line, we determined that this is not the new generation of the Genesis but the North American market 2014 Equus facelift, which has been announced in South Korea. MT Tests the 2013 SRT Viper GTS to Find Out How Sharp its Fangs Are Posted: 26 Dec 2012 03:44 PM PST When the third-generation Viper was launched back in April at the New York Auto Show, SRT boss Ralph Gilles had said that the company "simply would not let the performance icon of the Chrysler Group die." Love it or hate it, the Viper is undoubtedly an icon. Its two previous incarnations followed the same recipe: aggressive styling, a big-displacement V10 up front with huge torque driving the rear wheels and…that's about it. Read more » |
New Mazda6 Already Offered with Styling Packages in Japan Posted: 26 Dec 2012 03:17 PM PST If you have been keeping an eye on our news today, you will know that Mazda will display three customized concepts of the new Mazda6 at next month's Tokyo Auto Salon. In the States, the Mazda6 in sedan form only will go on sale in January as a 2014 model, which means we will probably have to wait until fall next year and the SEMA aftermarket show to see what kind of tuning options will be available for the Japanese carmaker's promising mid-size model. New Mercedes-Benz CLA Already Available in…Die Cast Miniature Form Posted: 26 Dec 2012 02:29 PM PST While Mercedes-Benz is trying to keep a tight hold on the upcoming CLA compact sports saloon, having only released bits and pieces of information along with pictures and videos of camouflaged prototypes, we've already had the opportunity to see official photos of the car. If that wasn't enough, now, pictures of what is said to be a 1/18 scale a die-cast model of the new CLA have surfaced on the internet! Read more » |
Trolling a French Police Car in Paris with a Quadcopter Drone Posted: 26 Dec 2012 02:31 PM PST While the debate on privacy rights and government power over the use of surveillance drones goes on, some talented folks from Team Black Sheep (TBS), which specializes in both filming equipment for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) as well as aerial video services, found some time to fool around in France while attending the LeWeb 2012 Conference. What TBS did on a street just outside of Paris is fly a remote controlled quadrotor, also called a quadrotor helicopter or quadcopter, equipped with a live-feed recording device. Read more » |

Early Reveal for Bentley's New 616hp Continental GTC Speed Posted: 26 Dec 2012 12:11 PM PST Official pictures of the new Bentley Continental GTC Speed model have dripped on the web, ahead of a rumored world premiere at next month's North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Other than the photos, we don't have anything else on the latest addition to the Continental's range, but it is evident from the pictures that the GTC Speed's styling cues are identical to the coupe model of the series. Guess What this BMW X6 is Hauling Up in the Snow Posted: 26 Dec 2012 11:36 AM PST 'Snowcat' is a generic term used for enclosed-cabin, fully tracked machinery that are made exclusively for use in snow (hence the name). They are employed not only on ski resorts, to prepare the trails, but also by military forces and other organizations. As 4x4s have evolved in the past two decades from rugged, no-frill tools to civilized and luxurious vehicles that retain some degree of off-road capability, seeing one stuck in mud or snow is not uncommon these days – especially if the driver hasn't fitted winter tires. Maserati Product Plan Sheet Confirms New Models Including Sports Car Series Posted: 26 Dec 2012 11:09 AM PST According to a new Fiat Group document that outlines the company's European plans through 2016, the Italian carmaker has decided to change its strategy and rely much less on mainstream products like the Punto and Bravo and more on premium and special vehicles, be that the Fiat 500 family, or the re-born Alfa Romeo and Maserati brands. We've already told you about Alfa Romeo in a previous article (see here), so let's see what the future holds for Maserati. Read more » |
Time-Lapse Video Shows Why Snow Can be Uncool Posted: 26 Dec 2012 10:38 AM PST If you're one of those people who dream of a "White Christmas", then you're probably either too young to drive or you happen to live in an area that never sees snow, because if you do, you should know that those white flurries dropping from the sky may look cool, but most of the times, they're a great hassle. Toyota Reveals New 2013 Crown Royal and Crown Athlete Sedans in Japan Posted: 26 Dec 2012 09:38 AM PST One of Toyota's oldest running nameplates that has been around since 1955, has just entered its 14th generation with the introduction of the new 2013 Crown series in Japan. As with its predecessor, the new Crown, which is about the same size as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class measuring 4,895mm (192.7 inches) in length, is offered in two basic flavors, the more luxurious Royal model and the sportier looking Athlete. "To attract people to the car today, we had to redesign it," the Japanese company's President Akio Toyoda, told the press during the presentation of the car in Japan on Tuesday. Toyota says both Crown models feature fresh styling inside and out adding that all major components have been updated, while there's also a new 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain, and new tech goodies such as the Toyota Multi-Operation Touch, which combines various vehicle functions into one touch panel on the center console. Fiat Group Plans to Re-Launch Alfa Romeo…Again, Product Plan Shows 9 New Models Posted: 26 Dec 2012 08:01 AM PST It's a story that we've heard again, and again, and again from the Fiat Group; re-launch and turn the Alfa Romeo brand into a global player in the premium segment. Whether the Italians will to stick to the program remains to be seen, but given the recent developments with Maserati, including the introduction of the new Quattroprote and sightings of Ghibli prototypes, there's a good chance Fiat means it this time. Bentley Continental GT Receives a Custom Touch by Vilner Posted: 26 Dec 2012 06:17 AM PST You would think that a car that costs as much as a small house like the Continental GT series wouldn't need any interior renovations, especially since Bentley itself already offers its customers many personalization options, but there are always exceptions to the rule. When a customer isn't satisfied with what Bentley has to offer or if he or she wants to redecorate their car after a few years of ownership, then the aftermarket industry comes into the picture. The first car that caught our attention is the S2000 Modulo Climax study of Honda's roadster model that ceased production in 2009. It's featured in a Candy Red paint and sports a newly designed front end with a chrome brace-like strip, a new rear bumper and a series of other customizations both inside and out.
