Facelifted 2014 Porsche Panamera Meets 2013 Audi S6 on German (?) Highway Posted: 13 Mar 2013 05:19 PM PDT If you're not a professional spy photographer, the chances of randomly meeting up with a prototype on the road are rare to zilch – depending on your location, even more so if you're travelling at night when it's far more difficult to spot lightly camouflaged models. Yet these two gentleman in a 2013 Audi S6 (that's the one with the 414hp / 420PS 4.0-liter TFSI V8), were able to tell apart a 2014 Porsche Panamera test car – likely from the LED lights at the back and the tweaked nose up front. Spy Shots: 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso Minivan Runs Around Naked in Sweden Posted: 13 Mar 2013 04:40 PM PDT If you haven't had enough of the new 2014 Citroen C4 Picasso, you can thank our intrepid spy photographers who had the courage to face an undisguised prototype of the French minivan in Sweden and get up close and personal to shoot some photos both of the exterior and interior. Not that we're looking at something we haven't seen before, since as it turns out, there's nothing remotely conceptual about Citroen's so-called Technospace Concept that's on display at the Geneva Motor Show as we speak. All-Electric Peugeot 205 Was Ahead of Its Time Posted: 13 Mar 2013 03:41 PM PDT Electric vehicles have been a viable alternative to the gasoline and diesel norm for decades. However, it was corporations and the abundance of oil, which ultimately blocked EVs' way into the mainstream. Still, each and every part of car history has some sort of attempt at making a feasible electric car, and in the 1990s, Peugeot seemed to be very close. Read more » |
Google Admits its Street View Cars Violated People’s Privacy, Pays $7 Million fine Posted: 13 Mar 2013 03:03 PM PDT Did you think Google's Street View cars only took pictures of your neighborhood? We did too, but as it turns out, they took a lot more than just photographs. A three-year-long privacy investigation involving Google's Street View cars revealed some disturbing information. Between 2008 and 2010, Google's cars collected passwords, e-mails, medical and financial records and other private information from home wireless networks. Basically, Google's cars sucked in all information available on unencrypted wireless networks… Read more » |
Volvo Mulling to Offer V60 Wagon in the States to Enhance Limited Lineup Posted: 13 Mar 2013 02:35 PM PDT Back in 2011, Volvo launched the S60 sedan and V60 estate in Europe, yet it was only the former that actually made it to the floors of US showrooms. Stateside dealers argued that in the face of falling wagon/estate sales, there was no need for it. However, their then-numerous range has shrunk to only four models in the US, and now dealers think there is room for the wagon in the range, after all, according to an Autonews report. Read more » |
Lamborghini Veneno and Ferrari LaFerrari get the Mini-Me Cute Treatment Posted: 13 Mar 2013 01:58 PM PDT If Carscoops readers' opinions are anything to go by, then the Ferrari LaFerrari is the sexiest new supercar of the Geneva Motor Show having amassed 52 percent of the votes in our poll (at the time we wrote this post) compared to 16 percent for the Lamborghini Veneno and 24 percent for the McLaren P1, while 6 percent disliked all three models. A Look Into the Future of the Next Generation Audi A5 Posted: 13 Mar 2013 01:32 PM PDT The A5 coupe was proof that familiar Audi styling cues didn't necessarily have to be associated with an understated (some would day boring) look and simple shapes to be successful, and it was a much-needed dose of sexiness in a range of very similar cars. Can You Tell How This Accident Happened? Posted: 13 Mar 2013 12:52 PM PDT Here's a video quiz for you; after you watch this dash-cam footage, can you explain how the passenger car crashed? The video is titled, "Встреча VW и BMW. Пьяный водитель", which of course, is partially Russian to most of us, but thanks to Google's translator, we get to learn that it means "Meeting VW and BMW. Bad Karma? Henrik Fisker Quits Fisker Automotive Posted: 13 Mar 2013 12:38 PM PDT Yes, it is true, Henrik Fisker, the co-founder, executive chairman and designer of Fisker Automotive, the maker of the Karma range-extender hybrid, has officially left the company. As always with situations such as this, nobody ever gives a good reason for their decisions, and all we're left with are ambiguous lines which don't really tell us anything particularly new. Citroen Speeds Up the…Election of the New Pope with Smoky New Ad Posted: 13 Mar 2013 11:01 AM PDT Headlines all over the world are dedicated these days to the Papal conclave in Rome, where 115 cardinals are trying to elect a new Pope. Millions of Catholics are waiting to see white smoke coming from above the Sistine Chapel, but only black smoke has come out so far. This means the cardinals haven't agreed yet on a successor for car-loving Pope Benedict XVI, who resigned last month. To make the election process smoother and faster, Citroen has thought of a simple, yet brilliant solution: fitting a particulate filter on the chimney. Problem solved – the black smoke has miraculously turned white! Read more » |

German tuner G-Power agrees, and has unleashed a new performance package for the two-door sports car. As always, it all begins with the beast lying under the hood that adopts upgraded software and a lighter (by 12kg or 26 pounds) titanium exhaust system pushing output numbers to 631hp (640SP) and 777Nm (573 lb-ft). This is the All-New 2014 Range Rover Sport! Posted: 13 Mar 2013 09:45 AM PDT Facebook user VMax 200 posted a photo, which seems to be a genuine picture of the all-new 2014 Range Rover Sport. Although the car may be mistaken for a tuned version of the Range Rover, there are some details that prove it's the real thing. Take the front bumper, for instance. It looks exactly like the one in these spy photos we posted last month. The more inclined windshield is also a good clue, as are the more elongated headlights and the slightly smaller glasshouse. Vilner Completes Restoration of Alfa Romeo RZ Roadster Posted: 13 Mar 2013 08:56 AM PDT Vilner's "Il Mostro" project has been completed and we can now see the results of the work that went into restoring the Alfa Romeo RZ to its former glory. The 1990s roadster model (the design house doesn't give a precise year, but we do know that the RZ was offered from 1992 to 1994), which was produced by Zagato for Alfa Romeo, is owned by an unnamed German client who sent the car to Vilner at its facility in Bulgaria. ExxonMobil Study Says Diesel to Surpass Gasoline as World's Fuel of Choice by 2020 Posted: 13 Mar 2013 08:09 AM PDT While the U.S. is still struggling with its acceptance of diesel-powered passenger cars, in Europe and other parts of the world, it has already become the fuel of choice. However, the diesel engine passenger cars make up only a small portion of all ignition-compression motors currently being used, so the demand for the fuel is only set to grow considerably in the coming decades, and will make up for as much as 70 percent of the growth in demand for all fuels by the year 2040. But when said interested buyer is none other than four-time Sprint Cup champion Jeff Gordon disguised as an average minivan owner, you know you're in for a treat - as a spectator. Read more » |
