Posted: 19 Mar 2013 05:40 PM PDT

All state and local law enforcement officers are sworn to "protect and serve" the public with the highest standard of conduct and professionalism, but unfortunately, that's not always the case.

For instance, take this Onslow County Sheriff's Deputy in car No. 145 that was marked as a K-9 unit. South Carolina resident Chad Walton was filming the deputy driving in front of him on the left side of the road going the same speed as a Volvo XC90 in the middle lane.

Posted: 19 Mar 2013 04:14 PM PDT

The last thing you want to do on a cold day is to drive around in a convertible model with its top down, but if you're an automotive tester, practicing things that most regular drivers will never do, is part of the job.

Enter the workday of BMW's engineers, who were photographed by our spies running around in a 4-Series Cabriolet prototype with its metallic roof in the wrong position for this time of year in Northern Europe.

FWD Hatchback-Based Crossovers, Why Don't They Go Away?

Posted: 19 Mar 2013 03:40 PM PDT

Looking out on the increasingly-crowded roadways of Europe (they say there's no money left, but many people continue to be buy new cars), you begin to notice that there are a lot of small and compact crossovers out and about.

They are driven around towns, where they take up no more space than the hatchback they are based on, except vertically. These crossovers get tough-looking plastic body cladding, raised suspension and chunky dimensions to give buyers the impression that they're driving something really capable.

EPIC EV's TORQ Roadster Three-Wheeler Can Pull 1.3G in Corners

Posted: 19 Mar 2013 02:01 PM PDT

If electric vehicles ever stand a chance of replacing the gasoline and diesel cars that we have become so accustomed to, they will have to appeal to both the head and the heart. They currently do neither very well (aside, from some exceptions like the Tesla Model S, which is looking good so far), because most automakers are mainly focused on making the technology affordable and as efficient as possible, in an attempt to please buyers' left brain. Consumer Reports Tests the 2013 BMW X1, Isn't Really Thrilled About it

Posted: 19 Mar 2013 01:30 PM PDT

If you can't wait for the new Touring version of the BMW 3-Series to arrive in the States next month, or simply think that owning a wagon is less cool than owning a crossover, the Bavarian company offers two alternatives: the X1 and the X3. If you see the former on the street, you will be struck by how un-SUV-like it looks.

That's partially due to the fact that the X1 is based on the underpinnings of the previous generation, E91 3-Series Touring, featuring a jacked up suspension and chunkier proportions.

Scoops: Jaguar Trots Out New XS Test Mule to Scare BMW 3-Series

Posted: 19 Mar 2013 11:59 AM PDT

Admittedly, the compact executive sedan category is one of the toughest and most competitive segments in the world, but if Cadillac can give it another try after the (Saab-based) BLS with the new ATS, then what's stopping Jaguar from doing it as well?

The British automobile maker, which had tried to break the German hold in the segment in the previous decade with the X-Type (2001–2009), an ill-fated attempt to turn the Ford Mondeo into a BMW 3-Series rival, is indeed planning such a car, rumored to carry the XS moniker.

The Range Rover in the video below uploaded by YouTube user Patrick3331 has no less than 57,412 coins attached to its bodywork!

It's been about two years since Mitsubishi took the decision to gradually phase out most of its U.S.-made models by killing the Endeavor crossover, Galant mid-size sedan, Eclipse coupe and Spyder convertible, and the results are what you would expect them to be: the automaker's U.S. sales plunged 27 percent to 57,790 cars last year.

The last time Mitsubishi reached the 100,000 sales mark in the United States was in 2008, when it had 491 franchises, which have now dropped to a little over 380 dealerships.
