New Dacia Logan MCV Ditches Third Row Seating and Becomes Mainstream

Posted: 05 Mar 2013 03:57 AM PST

Back in 2006, when Dacia launched the Logan MCV estate/wagon, their model lineup was limited, so they decided to have two models in one – a cavernous estate and a seven-seater MPV. The exterior styling and dimensions reflected this as well – it looked like an estate, but it was made extra-tall to offer the headroom MPV buyers would expect. Read more »

A Photo Gallery from the VW Group Family Gathering in Geneva

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 08:04 PM PST

Like every year, the Volkswagen Group held a special media event on the night before the opening of the Geneva International Auto Salon, where it rolled out all a selection of its world premieres.

Two of the most eye-catching and talked about models were the Lamborghini Veneno and the Porsche 911 GT3 – coincidentally, the former to celebrate the Italian brand's 50th anniversary, and the latter the 50th birthday of the 911 series.

The styling of the three-door crossover concept looks like a further development of Subaru's Hybrid Tourer Concept 2.0 that was displayed at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Show.

Hamann's Mirr6r BMW M6 F12 Coupe is as Shiny as a New Penny

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 04:06 PM PST

Leave it to Hamann Motorsport to dress up a BMW M6 F12 Coupe in a chrome outfit with more aero parts than a Formula 1 racer.

Nevertheless, it could be worse, as proved by Hamann's other Geneva Motor Show debut, a tinted pink (or is that purple?) 2013 Range Rover that's lurking behind the sports coupe in the video from Shmee150.

New Porsche 911 GT3 Boasts 469HP, Laps the Nürburgring in Under 7:30 [w/Video]

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 03:17 PM PST

As far as celebrating a golden anniversary goes, we'd say that Porsche got Lamborghini licked. While the Italian manufacturer chose to mark its 50th anniversary by launching an ultra-expensive, outrageously styled version of the Aventador that will be made in just three examples, its German "relative", since they both belong to the VW Group, celebrated the 50th birthday of the 911 by unveiling the new GT3.

This is the fifth model to wear the GT3 badge since the 996-series original. All the "right" parts are present and accounted for: the fixed rear wing, single-lock alloys, istinctive front bumper with air vents on the bonnet, wide rear wings (by 44 mm compared to the Carrera S). Under the skin, though, it's very different from what has gone before.

Instead of the race-derived "split" crankcase "Metzger" engine, named after Hans Metzger who designed it for the 964 air-cooled series, the 991-based GT3 is powered by an evolution of the DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) 3.8-liter flat-six that's used in the regular Carrera S.

Nissan Officially Launches 2013 Note B-Segment Hatchback in Geneva

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 01:49 PM PST

Ever since Nissan showed off their Invitation concept, at last year's edition of the Geneva Motor Show, and announced that it previews the next generation of their popular Note hatchback, we knew they were planning a change of style. Sure, the old Note was a practical and spacious car, but let's face it; it was just a bit boxy and uninspiring to look at. Read more »

Lamborghini Veneno and Its Huge Rear Wing Officially Revealed, See it on Video

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 01:23 PM PST

While we can't really call the Aventador or the Gallardo 'conservatively styled', they definitely are compared to Lamborghini's Geneva showstopper – the Veneno, a car made to celebrate the Italian firm's 50th anniversary.

They call it a racing car for the road, and while that concept may have morphed into a cliché over the years, we can see where they're coming from, because the Veneno looks like a stylized LeMans prototype with turn signals.

New VW Golf Variant is the 2014 Jetta SportWagen, TDI BlueMotion Rated at 71.3MPG!

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 12:49 PM PST

After a slew of leaked photos over the weekend, Volkswagen has officially released the new Golf Variant, which will eventually be known as the next generation Golf Wagon, Golf Estate or Jetta SportWagen, depending on the market in which it will go on sale.

Like the seventh-generation Golf hatchback upon which it is based, the Variant is considerably lighter than its predecessor - up to 232 pounds or 105 kilos, and this despite riding on a longer wheelbase of 2,636mm (103.8 inches) vs. 2,578mm (101.5 inches).

Renault Heats up New Clio GT by RenaultSport for the Geneva Motor Show

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 12:00 PM PST

We knew Renault had plans to bridge the gap between the Clio RS 200 EDC and lesser Clio models, and here it is: the new Clio GT, which judging by the rear license plate, was developed by the brand's RenaultSport performance division.

We say this because we don't have an official statement from the French carmaker yet, only these four images.

U Spy: New Citroen C4 Picasso Shows Its Better Side

Geneva-Bound Sanguis is a Bentley Continental GT Fettled by Mansory

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 09:44 AM PST

Compared to its other offerings at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show, the Mansory Sanguis, i.e. the German tuning brand's take on the new Bentley Continental GT, is pretty restrained.

Then again, that's probably because the Bentley coupe is a much more subtle car to start with than the Aventador or the F12berlinetta that also received the Mansory touch and will join the Sanguis at the show.

COTY 2013: VW Golf Mk7 Wins this Year's Competition to No One's Surprise [w/Video]

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 09:35 AM PST

The VW Golf is something like the Daniel Day Lewis of the automotive awards: when it's nominated, there's a good chance it will win. A few days after the Irish actor bagged his third Oscar for his performance in Lincoln, the seventh iteration of VW's C-Segment model won the 2013 European Car of the Year award for the second time in its history, becoming only the second model after the Renault Clio to have done so.

Perhaps the analogy is not exactly fair: DDL hasn't been nominated for each and every movie he has starred in while all seven generations of the Golf have been on the CoTY podium.

Kia Details 246Hp Provo Hybrid Concept that Hints at Future B-Segment Model

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 08:48 AM PST

Kia seems really keen on changing their perceived image, and now that they've moved away from their 'bargain-basement' roots, and more into premium territory, they have realized that there's still a long way to go before they can actually match the brand image of their established mainstream rivals.

The brand lacks sporty pedigree, and that's exactly what they've set out to change. First we recieved the Cee'd and Pro_Cee'D GT versions, which will inject a dose of much needed excitement into the Kia name.

Posted: 04 Mar 2013 08:24 AM PST

Carscoops reader Colin P. just dropped a couple of tips in our email box, both regarding the spanking new Ferrari F150-codenamed hybrid supercar.

The first one is a Twitter picture shared by Charles Morgan, Managing Director of Morgan Motors, that shows a covered up car at Ferrari's Geneva Motor Show stand, with a man who…doesn't really look very pleased, running towards the person holding the camera.
