Posted: 01 Mar 2013 05:00 PM PST

You may expect that John Hennessey, the automotive mastermind behind Hennessey Performance and the record-breaking Venom GT hypercar, to drive around in one of his more extreme creations, as he really seems to be into big horsepower figures. However, his daily driver, for the last 3,000 miles (4,800 km) at least, has been a front-wheel drive hatchback, albeit a rather quick one – the new 2013Ford Focus ST. Read more »

There's no denying that the new seventh generation Corvette with the Stingray moniker will sell more cars in North America, and specifically, in the United States, than anywhere else, but GM wants to give an international zest to the series, so it decided to unveil the convertible version at the Geneva Motor Show (March 5-17).

Need for Speed: This is How EA Game's VP Rolls at Work

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 01:01 PM PST

How would you imagine a high-ranking executive of a large gaming company like Electronic Arts (EA) arriving at work? Sure, the developer has produced some popular racing games like Need for Speed and the Burnout series, but what about its management; do they have any real love/interest for cars?

We cannot speak for all the top brass, but we can tell you that Patrick Söderlund, the executive vice president of the EA Games Label, definitely seems like our kind of guy; from the car the Swedish native rolls in, to the fact that he makes a point to note in his 'About' page on EA that he spends his spare time driving race cars.

Watch the Toyota FT-86 Open on the Move, Plus Official Details and 30 Photos

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 11:30 AM PST

Following last night's premature reveal, Toyota has officially presented its new GT86 / Scion FR-S-based FT-86 Open concept, just days before we get to see in the flesh at the 83rd edition of the Geneva Motor Show.

Besides a more comprehensive and higher-resolution image gallery, Toyota also published the first video of the car on the move and initial specifications.

It only takes a quick look at the pictures to see that the FT-86 Open is more of a pre-production model than a concept, something that even Toyota admits, adding that it created the car "to test the water for the possible introduction of a convertible version".

Aimed at the likes of the successful Mazda MX-5, the FT-86 Open replaces the GT86's (FR-S) fixed hard-top with a multi-layered fabric roof with a glass rear screen. Unlike the Mazda, however, the Toyota model has the same 2+2 seating format as the coupe, which can be a bonus feature for many buyers.

Spy Shots: 2016 BMW 7-Series to Feature Carbon Fiber Parts

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 10:25 AM PST

One of the first early prototypes of the next iteration of BMW's 7-Series with the internal code-name G11, has been caught out in the open in Northern Sweden undergoing winter testing.

There's too much camouflage on the car, let alone that many parts on both ends of the prototype, such as the lights, are non-production items, to have a definitive idea of what the G11 looks like, but the lines of the body seem slimmer, especially at the rear end of the saloon, continuing a trend that started with the current F01/F02 generation.

Meet the Volar-e, a 1,000Hp All-Electric Hypercar

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 07:45 AM PST

Electric-powered cars are still not associated with a sporty drive, and some say the lack of internal combustion noise detracts from the overall thrill factor of the driving experience. This, however, hasn't stopped a Spanish company called 'Applus Idiada' from trying to make something which would negate all the critics' arguments.

The result is a monstrous, all-electric hypercar, called the Volar-e. It is the collaborative effort Applus Idiada and Rimac Automobili from Croatia, the creators of the equally mad, Rimac Concept_One EV.

Renault Itself Test Drives the New Clio RS 200 EDC

Posted: 01 Mar 2013 04:56 AM PST

The all-new Clio RS 200 EDC is a very important car for Renault, and the French manufacturer is keen to point out the improvements over the previous generation car with an in-house test drive of its hot hatch. It is of course a biased review of the Clio, but since the first customer cars are set to be delivered in mid-March, this is all we have to go on until the car becomes available to the motoring press.
