All-New 2014 Corvette Stingray Fully Unveiled, Was it Worth the Wait?

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 08:05 PM PST

America's most recognized sports car nameplate is welcoming the debut of its seventh member since it came into the world in 1953.

The new Chevrolet Corvette is the third model in the series after the second (1963-1967) and third (used between 1969 and 1976) generation vehicles to wear the Stingray designation. It will receive its world premiere at the Detroit auto show on Monday, January 14, and go on sale in the fall.

As with all Corvettes or any other sports car for that matter, the first thing you will notice is the exterior styling, which in the case of the C7, breaks many traditions like the round or rounded-square taillights found on all Corvette's since 1961, while keeping others. Another new feature worth noting is the presence of rear-quarter windows, which were last seen in the first generation coupe model.

Many aspects of its design were previewed by the 2009 Stingray concept that appeared in the Transformers movies as Sidewipe.

It's too early to say whether the edgier and more sculpted design of the new Corvette Stingray will capture the imagination of buyers and fans alike and if it will become a classic, but as a first observation, we'd say that the from some angles, the styling looks unnecessary busy and overly trimmed, while we haven't warmed up to the plain-Jane-shaped rear window, yet.

New Mercedes-Benz CLA Finally Breaks Cover, Goes on Sale this Fall Priced at Around $30k

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 06:39 PM PST

You've probably already seen it before on more than one occasion, but this time, it is Mercedes-Benz that has released images and specs on its brand new entry in the executive compact sedan segment named the CLA.

It is the less impressive- but still sexy-looking production version of last year's Concept Style Coupé (CSC) sports sedan that transfers the four-door coupe styling of the CLS into a smaller package with a similar footprint as the C-Class.

The swoopy looking CLA will sit between the A-Class hatchback and the C-Class sedan, in terms of pricing, features and specifications, which means that it should start from around $30,000 in the States, with exact pricing to be announced closer to launch in September.

Mercedes describes the slippery-shaped CLA as a "styling rebel" adding that the car's drag coefficient of just 0.23 sets a "new world record in aerodynamics for series production automobiles".

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 02:49 PM PST

In recent years, the widespread availability of affordable, on-board cameras, have offered us a first person view of many accidents that take place at the Nürburgring racetrack each year during public sessions.

One such mishap on the 'Ring involving a BMW 1-Series hatch (we can't make out the model from the clip) was recorded on film by the camera of a car that was following from behind.

In the footage, we see the 1-Series first chasing and then overtaking a BMW 6-Series Coupe before the driver loses control of the hatch, which spins and smashes into the protective barrier, sending it into the air.

Hip Driver Showing Off his "Sporty" Lexus Crashes into a Juke…

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 12:13 PM PST

We'll need the help of our bilingual readers to translate what is being said in the featured video, which we're told was shot in Russia, but we do know that a) the car is a Lexus and b) the hipster behind the wheel utters the words "sport" and shortly after, "stop, stop, stop".

Our guess is that the young man in the driver's seat was demonstrating his ride's acceleration capabilities to one of his friends, and at the same time, his own inability to judge when and where one should speed on the road.

Posted: 13 Jan 2013 06:45 AM PST

Last year, Lincoln sales fell by 4 percent to 82,150 units in the U.S. despite the market posting a 13 percent increase compared to 2011. It's obvious that Ford's luxury car brand has a lot of work to do to catch up with its competitors.

The MKC Concept that will premiere at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit is part of that offensive that includes four all-new models aimed at the most popular segments in the next four years.

The compact luxury crossover segment, which has grown by nearly 60 percent in 2012 and more than 200 percent in the last four years, is one of them and Lincoln will compete with the MKC.
