Designer Envisions New Cadillac C-Ville Luxury Sedan Concept Posted: 03 Jan 2013 05:57 PM PST For those of you who are perhaps too young to remember, the Seville was a long-running nameplate in Cadillac's arsenal, which first appeared as a designation for the two-door hardtop version of the finned Eldorados built between 1959 and 1960. A decade and-a-half latter, the Seville name reappeared on a standalone model supposedly created as the wreath and crest brand's answer to German imports from the likes of BMW and Mercedes-Benz, before it was replaced by the STS in 2005 and to some extent, the XTS just last year. Despite the presence of the new XTS in the GM luxury brand's lineup, IED Turin graduate Samir Sadikhov, who gained fame with his stunning Xerzi concept that finished second in the 2011 Ferrari World Design Contest before heading for a year-long stint at Lamborghini, has come up with a new idea for a Cadillac full-size sedan. Kiwi Takes a Whiz from Inside his Minivan While Passing…a Patrol Car [NSFW] Posted: 03 Jan 2013 05:33 PM PST While not as near as disgraceful or embarrassing as drunken Twilight star Bronson Pelletier who was filmed [NSFW link]…relieving himself on the floor of the LAX airport just the other day, being that anything you place on the internet is there to stay for good, this young man from New Zealand will be forever known as the guy who air-peed on a patrol car. Unlike Pelletier, though, the young man featured here doesn't really look intoxicated, instead he simply had to go, and with the recommendations of his pals, he decided to crank open the window of their minivan, which at that point, was rolling on the highway, and…turn on his natural sprinkler. 2 or 4 Doors? C&D Pits the BMW M6 Against the M5 to Find Out Posted: 03 Jan 2013 04:11 PM PST BMWs bearing the tricolor M badge have been for quite some time the darlings of sports car fans. M3s, apart from the E36, have been worshiped; M5s likewise – even the 1-Series M Coupe-based received raving reviews. In every family, though, there's a black sheep: in BMW's M-family, it's the M6. This is kind of weird, as it's supposed to be pegged at the top of the food chain. It just couldn't cut it, though, against rivals such as Porsche's 911 Turbo. The all-new, second-generation of the 6-Series wasn't very well received by the motoring press, either. Can the new, third generation M6 coupe change that perception? Read more » |
U.S. Auto Market Records Nearly 14.5 Million Sales in 2012, Ford F-Series is No 1 Posted: 03 Jan 2013 03:44 PM PST As far as the U.S. automotive industry is concerned, 2012 was a great year. Scratch that: it was a great year and the best since 2007, thanks to nearly 14.5 million light vehicle sales, representing a 13 per cent increase over 2011's 12.7 million units. Ford's F-Series pickup truck was, once again, America's best-selling vehicle with 645,316 deliveries. Read more » |
Spied: New Porsche 911 Turbo and GT3 Flogged Around the Nürburgring Posted: 03 Jan 2013 02:22 PM PST The easiest way to tell a Porsche 911 Turbo from a 911 GT3 when they're running wild on a fast circuit like the Green Hell and on top of that, they're plastered in black camouflage, is to try to take a look at the exhaust pipes. You see, the milder Turbo edition has two outlets on either side of the rear diffuser while the rougher GT3 sports two centrally mounted pipes. Read more » |

Quad-Amputee Drifts a MazdaSpeed 6, Wants Ken Block to Give Him a Ride Posted: 03 Jan 2013 01:21 PM PST Feel free to add Taylor Morris to our selective list of remarkable people. The young man you're about to watch drift a MazdaSpeed6 sedan (also known as the Mazda6 MPS in other markets around the world) on the snow is a quadruple amputee with replacements for his lost parts. China Poised to Overtake Europe as the World's Biggest Car Producer in 2013 Posted: 03 Jan 2013 12:26 PM PST Even if Europe wasn't experiencing economic and structural problems that have deeply affected the domestic car industry, it would only be a matter of time before China with its growing economy and massive population overtook the Old Continent as the world's biggest automotive producer. However, with Europe in a deep recession, it's just going to happen faster than we thought. In fact, according to projections made for the Financial Times by five forecasting groups, including IHS, LMC Auto and PwC consultancies along with investment banks UBS and Credit Suisse, China will produce more vehicles than Europe this year for the first time ever. Range Rover SDV8 Tows an Airstream 684 Series 2 from England to Morocco and Back Posted: 03 Jan 2013 11:49 AM PST Just like Julius Caesar's wife must be above suspicion, all products from Land Rover and especially its flagship Range Rover SUV must be capable of conquering all sorts of terrain and hauling anything you throw at it, regardless if a substantial number of owners will never set foot on dirt. Having already shown its off-road prowess, Land Rover wanted to demonstrate what it describes as "the class-leading towing ability" of the all-new 2013 Range Rover. Read more » |

Shooting Firecrackers from a Car is as Stupid as it Sounds Posted: 03 Jan 2013 10:38 AM PST If we had to guess, we'd say the that these festive knuckleheads shooting firecrackers from inside their car on the road, are from Russia or one of the neighboring countries. Regardless of where they're from, you can hear them at first, and then watch them as well, having a blast (literally) from the recording device of an adjacent automobile. Read more » |

Watch Evo’s Harry Metcalfe Review the 750HP Aston Martin One-77 Supercar Posted: 03 Jan 2013 09:36 AM PST Reviewing a car two years after its production commenced is quite unusual in the automotive world, even if the vehicle in question is a supercar. Aston Martin, though, had vowed that no motoring journalist would get his/her hands on the One-77, so it didn't provide a test car to anyone. But as they say, when there is a will, there's a way. The simplest is to convince an owner to lend you the car. Not the easiest of tasks when it's a £1.2 million (US$1.9 million, €1.5 million at today's exchange rates), 750HP hypercar of which only 77 exist. Read more » |

Spied: This is the New 2014 Hyundai i10 City Car Posted: 03 Jan 2013 07:47 AM PST Hyundai is like one of those kids who just can't stay put, always looking to improve and/or renew its product line, something that has served the Korean automaker well over the years. In the past few weeks alone, we've seen Hyundai update both its Korean market Equus and Grandeur (also known as the Azera), while also preparing a facelift for the North American market Equus, and continuing development on the next Genesis Sedan. Now, our spies from Europe have nabbed a camouflaged prototype of the next generation of the i10 sub-compact. Read more » |

Capristo Opens Up a Window for Ferrari 458 Spider Posted: 03 Jan 2013 05:33 AM PST If there was one thing you could change on the Ferrari 458 Spider, what would it be? Well, the answer to that question really depends on whom you ask, but for German tuner Capristo, which specializes on exhaust systems, it would be the open-top supercar's engine cover. You see, contrast to the 458 Italia Coupe that sports a window pane offering a clear view of the car's high-revving V8 powerhouse, the Spider was designed with a regular vented hood. Read more » |
