Gulf States' economies, on the other hand, are growing by around 6 percent a year. Add in the fact that the latter are the single largest producer of crude oil in the world and you can easily see why exotic supercars are flying out of the showrooms. In Dubai, there's a 20-month waiting list for the US$525,000 Lamborghini Aventador. It's not just the Lambo: in the Gulf region, there's every kind of supercar you can think of – and then some more. Once a year, in the summer, many young affluent Arabs fly their hot wheels 3,000 miles away to London so that they can enjoy certain things that are forbidden in their homeland. Read more »       |
| New Alfa Romeo 6C Cuore Sportivo Design Concept Posted: 08 Jan 2013 05:21 PM PST  The last great sports car to be produced by Alfa Romeo was the 8C Competizione offered in limited numbers between 2007 and 2010, which shared its platform and V8 engine with the Maserati GranTurismo. For the near future, the Italians have promised us at least two new sports models, the 4C mid-engine coupe and the next Mazda MX-5-based Spider, both of which are expected to be less spectacular than the 8C, but also much more affordable. In their most recent filming venture, they placed an unnamed woman / model (prior experience tells us that at least one of you will be able to name her…) in the passenger seat of a wild and loud Factory Five Shelby coupe upgraded with "a 04 Cobra motor custom built by Gemini Motorsports in Houston". | Did an Insider Leak the New 2014 Dodge Dart SRT4? Posted: 08 Jan 2013 03:35 PM PST  A couple of hours ago, a number of sites reported about an allegedly leaked teaser sketch of the 2014 Dodge Dart SRT4, presumably sourced from a site named Ontariostreetcar. Since the source matters when it comes to these kinds of stories, we took a closer look at Ontariostreetcar. There we found a number of unaccredited images and renderings including one of our own, the 2014 Chevy SS, so it quickly became evident that this website wasn't the source. To make a long story short, we traced back the image to the 'Neon Enthusiasts' forums and one of its members named "Neon GTS". | Another Russian Pedestrian Stands His Ground, But is the Driver at Fault? | NHTSA Lays Out Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and All-Electric Vehicles Posted: 08 Jan 2013 08:33 AM PST  Following up to the 2010 Pedestrian Safety Enhancement Act (PSEA), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposed establishing a federal motor vehicle safety standard that would set the minimum sound requirements for electric and hybrid vehicles. | Dodge Presents Faintly Sportier Dart GT with Tuned Chassis and 184hp 2.4L Engine Posted: 08 Jan 2013 12:04 PM PST  Dodge couldn't wait until next week's Detroit auto show to tell us about the latest addition to its Dart range, the sportier GT model that sits atop the Limited edition featuring the brand's 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir2 four-cylinder engine delivering 184 ponies and 174 lb.-ft. of torque to the front wheels. When the Chrysler Group announced pricing for the Dart last April, it made word of an identically-equipped R/T version fitted with the same 184hp engine priced at $22,495 (excluding handling and delivery) that would become available in the third quarter of the year. | Toyota Recalls the Most Vehicles in the U.S, Ford has the Most Campaigns in 2012 Posted: 08 Jan 2013 05:37 AM PST  For the third time in the past four years, Toyota has been crowned the recall champion of the U.S. auto market, according to a Detroit News examination of all the data provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) throughout 2012. Overall, some 16.2 million passenger cars, trucks, motorcycles and recreational vehicles (RVs) were recalled in the United States (13.5 million of which from the seven bestselling auto brands), representing an increase of 4.5 percent over the 15.5 million vehicles recalled the previous year.
