Watch a Kawasaki ZX-10R Chase an Audi RS6 ABT 700HP on the Autobahn Posted: 24 Jan 2013 06:36 PM PST Yes, you read that correctly and we did not place the models in the wrong order; it's the almighty Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R that's doing the chasing most of the times in this crazy meet up with an Audi RS6 Avant ABT on Germany's largely speed-limit free Autobahn. We're told that the tuned super-station wagon makes 700-horses, but we wouldn't be surprised if it was more, and you won't be either after you watch the Audi overtaking the Kawasaki, which was travelling at a speed of 300km/h (186 mph), with ease in the second video at the 12-second mark. Exec Says Nissan Considered Killing Infiniti, has Plans for an "Emotional" (GT-R-Based?) Flagship Posted: 24 Jan 2013 05:56 PM PST It may come as a surprise but the Infiniti Q50 sports sedan may have not made the waves it did at this year's Detroit Auto Show – in fact, the whole Infiniti brand may have ceased to exist by now, according to Nissan vice president Andy Palmer. In an interview at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, Palmer told Wards Auto that, when he expressed his doubt about whether the group would be better off without Infiniti and its ho-hum performance, CEO Carlos Ghosn "challenged me and said 'We don't have to do Infiniti, you can cancel it if you want'". Volvo Engineer Going Berserk on Spy Photographer Ends Up on YouTube Posted: 24 Jan 2013 05:10 PM PST Anyone who claims that being a spy photographer for the automotive industry is a walk in the park, clearly hasn't a clue what this profession entails. On the other hand, we also understand that being followed / stalked by people with cameras while you're trying to do your job as an engineer can be frustrating and time-consuming. Nevertheless, if you're not driving on a private track but on public roads, you just have to learn to live with it. Now, it's one thing for an engineer to display his or her anger with sign language, as we've seen it happen many times in the past, and a completely different story when you get physically aggressive. Updated Audi A5 Sportback Receives the Tuning Treatment from ABT Posted: 24 Jan 2013 04:34 PM PST Audi came out with the refreshed A5 Sportback back in the summer of 2011, making it available for sale in most countries before the end of the same year. It's been a while in car-months, but ABT Sportsline has released a comprehensive package for Ingolstadt's sleek liftback model. The German tuner offers performance upgrades to the handling and engine departments along with cosmetic upgrades for the A5 Sportback's exterior. Read more » |
What's it Like Using a Ferrari FF as a Daily Driver for Two Weeks Covering 2,000 miles? Posted: 24 Jan 2013 03:34 PM PST Since time immemorial, word was that the only true sports car you could drive day-in, day-out, was the Porsche 911. Then the Audi R8 came along and joined its posher VW Group stable-mate, while Nissan introduced the GT-R, but that's about it. What about the Italians? Well, they're a hoot to drive flat out on an autobahn, marvelous to look at, spine-tingling when you floor the throttle at the exit of a bend and apply opposite lock, for sure. Read more » |
BMW M4 Coupe and M3 Sedan Concepts Realistically Imagined Posted: 24 Jan 2013 03:01 PM PST The word on the street is that BMW is making plans to unwrap a thinly disguised concept version of the M3 sedan at the Frankfurt motor show in September, with the final production model to appear in dealerships around the world in 2014. Like many other publications, Britain's Car Magazine has come up with an illustration to give us an idea of what to expect about the M3 sedan's looks in its latest issue. And it's not alone, as the creative minds over at Bimmerpost used their Photoshop skills to turn the BMW 4-Series Coupe Concept from the Detroit Motor Show into an impressive M4 Coupe study. Count How Many Times this Driver Hit a Vehicle in 5 Seconds Posted: 24 Jan 2013 02:07 PM PST The way we see it, there's only one of two things going on here with this driver: either he's more drunk than Lindsey Lohan floating unsurprised in a barrel of whiskey or he's crazier than a rabid dog. There's no other explanation, because while you could say the driver of the white-colored station wagon (can you tell us the make and model?) was trying to make a quick getaway after smashing into the Nissan Juke when he hit the truck, the second time he crashed into it doesn't make any sense. First Scoop Shots of the New Audi A3 Sedan, will Compete Against the Mercedes-Benz CLA Posted: 24 Jan 2013 01:41 PM PST After setting foot on the compact hatchback segment, Germany's premium car brands are now eyeing the sedan category, with Mercedes-Benz being the first to present its proposal in the form of the CLA sports saloon. Even though Audi told us it would launch an A3-based sedan at the end of 2012, that never happened. Instead, we're now waiting for the premiere of the A3 Sedan to take place at a major international auto show in the coming months before it begins to arrive in showrooms at the end of the year or for some markets, in the first quarter of 2014. Jay Leno has GM Chief Designer Give him a Tour of the 2014 Corvette Stingray, Teases Test Drive Posted: 24 Jan 2013 01:00 PM PST As these lines are written, we bet most road test editors, especially in the U.S., are green with envy. Why? Because a famous car enthusiast, who also happens to have his own motoring show, just beat them to driving the car everyone's dying to get their hands on. No disrespect to colleagues, but when it comes to getting first dibs on the 2014 Corvette Stingray, it surely helps if your name is Jay Leno and you are a very high-profile car nut and Corvette enthusiast who also owns a ZR-1. Spy Shots: New Skoda Octavia Combi Caught on Public Roads Posted: 24 Jan 2013 12:15 PM PST There's really no point in trying to hide the styling elements of the new generation of the Skoda Octavia Combi since the liftback version has already been formally introduced and we've even seen the station wagon without camouflage (albeit from a distance), however, the Czech carmaker continues to circulate lightly masked prototypes like this one, nabbed earlier in the week. VW Believes its New Super Bowl Ad will Make You Happy, What Do You Think? Posted: 24 Jan 2013 11:33 AM PST If you're looking for a Volkswagen car hidden somewhere in the German brand's new Super Bowl XLVII television spot dubbed "Sunny Side", sorry to say, you won't find one. Instead, what we see in the online teaser video that was released by VW on Thursday is many, many happy people, some of whom you may recognize as they're protagonists of a number of viral internet clips. Euro NCAP Announces the Safest Cars of 2012 in Each Segment Posted: 24 Jan 2013 11:42 AM PST Safety is something not to be taken lightly as far as cars are concerned. Euro NCAP, the independent organization that was established by seven European governments and has been conducting crash-tests since 1997, has been a key player in improving the level of passive and active safety offered by today's new cars. In 2012, it tested 36 new vehicles that became available in European markets. Most of them performed well enough to earn a five-star rating, though some did better than others in the four individual categories, namely adult occupant protection, child occupant protection, pedestrian protection and safety assist systems, and earned the "Best in Class" title for their respective segments (two of them tied in the Mini MPV class). Moose on the Loose Hits Moscow Ring Road Posted: 24 Jan 2013 10:25 AM PST Adding to the many strange things one can see on Russian highways these days, a driver captured a moose on film attempting to cross the Moscow Automobile Ring Road, which circles around the country's capital city. We can't see if the large animal was hurt (it doesn't look like it), but while crossing the road, it stumbled and slipped before it got up by itself and headed towards the…fast lane on the left side of the highway. India's Big Daddy Customs gets Creative with Tata Sumo Grande Posted: 24 Jan 2013 09:41 AM PST The blue-colored gem you're looking at in these pictures is the XENON concept based on the Indian market Tata Sumo Grande crossover and it was made by local replica and coach-builder Big Daddy Customs. In contrast to the two previous models from Big Daddy Customs that we've shown you on these pages and which include a Chevrolet Optra-based replica of the 1967 Ford Mustang Eleanor and a Tata Safari-based clone of the Range Rover Evoque, the XENON is a unique project commissioned by Tata itself. McLaren Continues Development of P1 Hypercar, Shares New Track Video Posted: 24 Jan 2013 07:49 AM PST Since its unveiling at last year's Paris Auto Show, McLaren's new hypercar, the P1, has generated quite a lot of interest. If that's natural with any such car, in the case of the P1 it has been amplified by a.) the fact that the company is keeping its cards very close to its chest concerning a lot of the details and b.) that it will be launched in the same year as its direct rivals, i.e. the Ferrari "F150" and the Porsche 918 Spyder. Now the Woking outfit has issued a press release informing us that the development of the P1 continues "ahead of its next global appearance". Well, that will probably be Geneva in March then.
