A Visual Comparo Between the 2014 Corvette Stingray and the 2009 Concept Model

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 05:53 PM PST

Concept cars fall into two basic categories: those that are a flight of fantasy and which you instinctively know will never ever make it past the motor show floors (e.g. the Peugeot Onyx), and those that preview an actual car that's still some years down the road.

Even in the second scenario, the designers' main objective is to create a concept to wow the crowds at auto shows. They may think inside certain parameters, but they don't really have to worry about "little" things such as legislation concerning the height of the headlights or pedestrian impact protection. That is what engineers are for, right?

U Design: New BMW M2 Convertible Rendered

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 04:40 PM PST

As BMW begins to circulate craftily camouflaged prototypes of its second generation 1-Series Coupe and Convertible models, which will form the new 2-Series range, out in the open, the question arises if the Bavarian carmaker has plans for an M2 high-performance version.

From what we have heard, BMW M seems open to creating an M2 model, possibly powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine instead of the M135i hatchback's 3.0-liter force-fed straight-six, which would mark a first for the brand since the demise of the original M3 E30 back in the early 1990s.

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 03:41 PM PST

When Mini has free time on its hands, it tends to get creative with its current portfolio designing special edition models like the new Clubman Bond Street, which was revealed today in advance of its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Salon in early March.

The new Mini Clubman has nothing to do with Britain's most famous fictional secret service agent; instead, it is named after one of London's most exclusive shopping streets.

Koenigsegg Boss Walks us Through the Agera R Supercar's Painting Process

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 03:13 PM PST

One of the good things about small-volume supercar manufacturers like Pagani or Koenigsegg is that, unlike bigger companies, you can get their bosses themselves to walk you through their cars.

Understandably, Luca di Montezemolo is too busy running the business to explain himself the details of the clear coat on the F12berlinetta. Horacio Pagani or Christian von Koenigsegg, on the other hand, can spare the time since their production is just a small fraction of that of Ferrari or Lamborghini.

Spy Shots: 2014 Porsche Panamera Reveals Cayman-Like Lights

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 01:47 PM PST

While it's been over a year since we first spotted a prototype of the refreshed 2014 Panamera testing out in the open, Porsche isn't ready to release the car to the public just yet, but fear not as our sources tell us that it will make its appearance sometime this year, possibly at the Frankfurt auto show in September.

What these latest spy pictures provide us is with a better look at the facelifted Panamera's rear end that sports new LED tail lamp clusters that look similar in styling to those used on the new Cayman coupe and Boxster roadster models, as well as the newly styled bumper.

Kate Upton and the Wolf: Watch the Two New Mercedes-Benz CLA Ads

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 01:16 PM PST

One of Mercedes-Benz's most important new models of the year is without doubt the CLA. Not only because it is the brand's first front-wheel drive saloon, but also because it lowers the entry price to the three-pointed star to around $30k in the U.S.

Short of actually driving the car, we know everything about the new CLA. Based on the MFA platform, it boasts a world-leading aerodynamic coefficient of 0.23 (0.22 in the BlueEFFICIENCY C180) and will launch with a 207HP turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder in the U.S. and a broader engine range in other markets.

One Mistake Leads to Multiple Crashes on Icy Highway

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 11:20 AM PST

When you're on the highway and it's snowing, it's always a sensible idea to slow down and increase the distance from the cars in front of you, as you never know what lies ahead. As they say, better to be prepared than sorry.

If you don't adhere to this very simple rule, your chances of getting into an accident are exponentially greater.

Spied: 2014 Volvo S60 Facelift to Sport Updated Fascia and Interior

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 10:40 AM PST

After the recent sightings of the refreshed S80 sedan and XC60 crossover in China, our scoop photographers landed these images of a prototype of the facelifted S60 saloon testing in northern Europe.

On the outside, the only part of the car that appears to change is the front end. While heavily camouflaged, we're guessing that Volvo will follow in the path of the 2014 S80 and XC60 discarding the inner set of lights positioned between the headlamps and the grille, which itself, will also obtain a different shape and new details, as will the front bumper.

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 07:04 AM PST

We all know that it only takes one split second of distraction or misjudgment to cause an accident on the road.

The driver featured in this dash-cam footage took an exit off the highway, seemingly a little too fast for his own good.

While entering the second turn, the car appears to oversteer smashing into the inner side of the road barrier, which sends it to the outer side before it finally flips over.

New Aston Martin Rapide S gets 550HP and a Huge Grille [w/Video]

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 06:35 AM PST

If there are one or two things the Rapide wasn't short of, it sure wasn't looks or power. On the other hand, the upper echelons of the luxury four-door sedan segment are becoming more crowded by the day and Aston Martin's offering, which is already three years old, isn't getting any younger.

Thus, the Gaydon-based manufacturer developed the Rapide S, a more powerful (by a significant 17 percent), redesigned and re-engineered version of its sports sedan.

Instantly recognizable by its single-, instead of two-piece, front-grille, the sportiest four-door ever built by Aston Martin keeps the Rapide's delicious looks and adds more of everything.

Do These Patent Drawings Reveal the New 2014 Nissan X-Trail and Rogue SUVs?

Posted: 23 Jan 2013 05:56 AM PST

Last year, beginning with the Geneva motor show in March and continuing with the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, Nissan displayed a new concept model named the Hi Cross for a compact SUV.

Officially, Nissan said the Hi Cross offers a look at its new design language in the crossover segment.

However, due to its dimensions and the fact that the Japanese carmaker showed it on both sides of the Atlantic, we believe it may preview a common successor for the X-Trail, sold in Europe, Japan and other parts of the world, and the Rogue that is offered in North America.
