Watch Rémi Gaillard's Best Traffic Police Pranks Posted: 10 May 2013 07:09 PM PDT French funny man Rémi Gaillard has provided us with plenty of laughs over the past decade or so after losing his job at a shoe store and taking on the comedy world by storm, most of the times at the expense of police officers on the road. And it is these moments that Gaillard put together to create a four-and-a-half minute long video with some of his most successful pranks with officers of the law. Read more » |
Find Out How a BMW Worker Created the First Ever 3-Series Touring in His Spare Time! Posted: 10 May 2013 05:19 PM PDT The tale of the BMW 3-Series Touring is an unusual one in an industry that is usually three steps ahead of consumers and can anticipate their needs years in advance. Instead of BMW coming up with the idea, it was actually a 3-Series sedan owner (and BMW employee) who was the first to create the car. The man behind the story is Max Reisböck, who wanted to drive the compact sedan and use it to carry his family around, but was displeased with the insufficient luggage area, so he decided to make his own estate, in his back yard, using a wrecked car as a base! Chinese Automakers to Use Turbos and Efficient Transmissions to Compensate for Slow EV Sales Posted: 10 May 2013 04:48 PM PDT For all the advantages they offer in every-day driving, modern EVs are faced with the same problems around the world, regardless of which market they are sold in: the high acquisition cost, coupled with the limited range and underdeveloped infrastructure, limit the appeal of what is otherwise becoming quite a viable technology. China too is faced with the same issues, despite the fact that they can improve the charging network on a much larger scale, and can do so with more ease than some other countries, where change is brought about more slowly. What Will They Think of Next? Sexy Girl Plays Catch the $100 Bill Game in Twin-Turbo Lambo… Posted: 10 May 2013 04:57 PM PDT It really doesn't take a hugely powerful car to pin you hard on the seat so that you can't reach a 100 dollar bill stuck on the dashboard, and which you were instructed to grab while the vehicle was accelerating. I remember seeing something like this on a TV show, which was attempted in a stock BMW Z4 (not sure which one) and it proved successful – the banknote stayed on the dash. We therefor suspect that this video has an entirely different purpose altogether. Why? Well, because the professional model (named Kayla) who is to attempting to get in touch with Benjamin is not wearing a great deal of clothes and she could objectively be called good looking. BMW’s 2014 Upgrades Include New xDrive Models and 8-Speed Auto Across the Board Posted: 10 May 2013 03:06 PM PDT BMW has announced a number of model upgrade measures that will be effective starting this summer in Europe. With the EU6 exhaust emission standard coming into effect in September 2014, BMW will increase the number of models that already fulfill the EU6 emission regulations. Read more » |
Sebastien Loeb Finds the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak "Incredible" Posted: 10 May 2013 02:21 PM PDT Peugeot has a history of making great race cars out of their run-of-the-mill hatchback models, usually by taking the engine from under the bonnet, throwing it out, and putting an all-new and much more powerful unit in the middle of the chassis, for better balance and traction. Sadly, modern WRC rules are rather limiting, and in order for the Peugeot engineers to stretch their wings, they need to look elsewhere, and more specifically, the Pikes Peak hill climb, for which they created the 208 T16 Pikes Peak. Check Out POV Test Drive of the 2014 Lexus IS350 F-Sport Posted: 10 May 2013 01:41 PM PDT The BMW 3-Series is touted as being the benchmark compact executive sedan, regardless what you pit it against. However, the current generation car, the F30, has been criticized for not being as sharp to drive as the E90 model it replaces, and according to some reviews, the Cadillac ATS has it beaten when it comes to driving dynamics. Also, its interior displays little design flair over the previous generation, and coupled with the loss of identity (can be confused with the 5-Series and vice-versa), some buyers may shy away from the Bavarian automaker, and try out a new Lexus IS, like the one filmed here by Winding Road. First Official Photos of the All-New 2014 Peugeot 308 Hatchback? Posted: 10 May 2013 01:16 PM PDT A Carscoops reader who goes under the nickname "Instacar69" tipped us off about a group of cropped pictures, purportedly showing parts of the new generation of Peugeot's 308 compact hatchback before a reported world premiere this Monday, on May 13. We can't vouch for their authenticity yet, but after snooping around on the web, we found a flyer from French publication Automobile-Magazine with a photo-shopped image of the next 308 (first pic in the gallery) and the wording "Découvrez la nouvelle Peugeot 308 des le 13 Mai sur notre site", which translates to "Discover the new Peugeot 308 on May 13 on our site", so there's a good chance that they are real. VW Recalls 91,000 Vehicles in Japan Citing DSG Problems…Again Posted: 10 May 2013 12:32 PM PDT The reliability record of the VW Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) is taking a hit with a great deal of reports coming in from around the world for not behaving like they should, and dealers refusing to come up with a viable fix. Apparently, these self-shifters just don't cope with "hot and wet climate, extreme stop-and-go traffic as well as pollution typical of some Asian cities", says a report from Reuters, citing a company spokesman. Can You See the BMWs in New Hollywood Film Trailer? Sure You Can…. Posted: 10 May 2013 11:25 AM PDT BMW has been caught up in the…illusion of marketing and product placement in yet another Hollywood flick, this time in the upcoming action-thriller film "Now You See Me", directed by Louis Leterrier and starring Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Woody Harrelson. The brand with the blue and white roundel logo collaborated with the makers of the film to share / advertise a video trailer from the move covering plenty of scenes in which its cars are featured, and focusing especially on its bread-and-butter 3-Series sedan. Renault Reportedly Killed Off Modern Interpretation of R4 for Captur Posted: 10 May 2013 10:56 AM PDT It's clear that Renault thinks retro-modern looks are still in fashion, as the next Twingo will bear more than just a passing resemblance to the Clio's precursor, the R5. However, according to GoAuto, the French automaker was planning one more retro model, which was going to harken back to the R4, which is an even older rhombus-badged small hatchback introduced in 1961. It seems that Renault's former management, led by ex-COO Patrick Pelata who was forced to step down in 2011, was really interested in the creation of a heavily retro-influenced car with R4 styling cues, and that development of the vehicle had already commenced and was well underway. Oh, The Terror: Dash-Cam Captures Big Rig Flipping Over in Russia Posted: 10 May 2013 10:24 AM PDT We have to say, there are few situations on the road that are scarier than a large truck violently flipping over and heading towards your way at speed. Don't believe us? Check out this spine-tingling dash-cam footage from a car driving on a street in the city of Zlatoust in Russia. We can't see how it happened, but the large rig coming from around the corner suddenly turns over and crashes on its side, fortunately pushing, not squashing another vehicle that was right in front of it. VW Sends 100 Examples of Limited Run Beetle GSR to the UK Posted: 10 May 2013 09:46 AM PDT Adding to the many Volkswagen Group-related news coming out this week (thanks to the ongoing Wörthersee Tour), there's a little something that concerns British consumers, as the German brand announced today that it will ship 100 examples of its new Beetle GSR special edition model to the country out of a worldwide total of 3,500 units. Carbuyer Reviews New SEAT Leon, Calls it a Cheaper and More Stylish Golf Posted: 10 May 2013 09:24 AM PDT I've always been a fan of all generation SEAT Leons, which are very impressive cars, with solid underpinnings, good interiors and different styling. The second-gen car ditched the angular lines altogether, and went for a totally different look, but now, with the third generation model that's already here, they've changed styling philosophy yet again. 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class Brochure Leaks Online Revealing the Car in Detail Posted: 10 May 2013 08:54 AM PDT The clock might be ticking quickly for the world premiere of the all new, and very important for a number of reasons, 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class sedan, at a special event in Hamburg, Germany, next week on Wednesday, May 15 (watch the reveal live here), but the internet never rests… On top of all the other official and unofficial leaks ranging from the front-end picture of the luxury full-size sedan to images of a toy die-cast model, we now have a brochure of the W222-codenamed Mercedes S-Class, courtesy of a reader of the Germancarforum. The German-language brochure scans provide a clearer look at the new S-Class' more chiseled and cleaner exterior body that does away with the bloated fenders and gains a swoopier profiler that continues to remind us of the brand's smaller CLA and CLS four-door coupes. The interior had already been shown by Mercedes-Benz itself recently, and besides the completely new design that blends classic and modern lines to create what could be one of the best looking cabins in the segment and not only, it also comes with a raft of new technology and comfort features. These range from the twin 12.3 inch TFT screens for the instrument panel and infotainment system to a sophisticated climate control system with active perfuming and filtering of the air, and in a world first, heated armrests all around, just to mention a few. MotorTrend Drives Slammed Willys Jeep Rat Rod to a Bar in Arizona Posted: 10 May 2013 07:46 AM PDT While the title of this piece may not sound particularly interesting, the act of driving a poorly-modified Willys Jeep to a bar in an Arizona desert, is a tall order. This is what the MotorTrend magazine crew did, with an old banger that had been bought a few months in advance, and which had been sitting unused this entire time. Read more » |

Now, they have chosen this year's Worthersee GTI meeting to reveal a specially themed A1, which features the R18 competition kit. Read more » |
Macho Jerk in California Slaps Motorcyclist Who Captures it on Film Posted: 10 May 2013 06:24 AM PDT Have you ever been in a situation where you wished you had a camera to record everything? Well, this motorcycle rider from California did, as he had mounted a small camera on top of his helmet filming an incident that took place this week, just outside a Honda dealership in the city of Burlingame in San Mateo County. In the video, we see the motorcyclist and the driver of a black Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk6 waiting at a red light before both accelerate fast once the green light comes on, then the motorist stops abruptly in front of the biker and approaches him in a menacing way. Ford to Beat Own Yearly Hybrid Sales Record this Month, Fusion Hybrid Outsells Camry Posted: 10 May 2013 07:31 AM PDT Despite accusations for not being honest about how efficient their hybrids really are, Ford is announcing excellent sales numbers for the first part of the year, and they expect to surpass their 2010 hybrid sales record, when they managed to shift 35,496 units, far sooner than the end of 2013. In fact, Bloomberg is reporting that it will be surpassed by the end of this month. They say that the Blue Oval has already managed to move 29,561 hybrids through April, when 8,481 were sold, and once the results for May come in, it should be enough to beat the record. Read more » |
