Chris Harris Drives Porsche’s New 918 Spyder Hybrid

Posted: 15 May 2013 05:03 PM PDT

The 918 Spyder is on its way, and unlike other similar projects that are shrouded in secrecy from the moment they are announced up until the point when they are launched, Porsche's hybrid hypercar has been out in the open from very early on in its development cycle.

Journalists have even been allowed to drive the car on several occasions, but being a work in progress vehicle, none have pushed it as hard as they would have wanted. Chris Harris' latest Drive video is no exception, as he gets behind the wheel of a 918 that is currently about 80 percent done.

Posted: 15 May 2013 03:58 PM PDT

We accept ads as a necessary evil throughout our regular daily internet surf. However, if you begin to notice patterns in the types of ads you see onscreen a regular basis, don't think you're paranoid, because sometimes, they are specially chosen for you. Or, at least, the virtual version of yourself, which is the one automakers are after with their latest sales-boosting trick – targeted ads. Read more »

Take a Whiff of BMW's World Record Setting 51.3 Mile-Long Drift Attempt

Posted: 15 May 2013 03:10 PM PDT

Not that we would mind, but sitting down to watch a video of a car going around a track sideways for 51.278 miles (82.506 kilometers) or 322.5 laps isn't something that most internet viewers would have the patience to do.

Instead, BMW went for a short version of Johan Schwartz's Guinness World Record-shattering drift attempt that was performed in a completely stock 2013 M5 sedan at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina on Saturday, May 11, 2013.

This Is How You Kill a Maserati Quattroporte with Sledgehammers...

Posted: 15 May 2013 02:28 PM PDT

The following video will definitely trigger a deja-vu sequence among many of our readers; an expensive Italian luxury car destroyed with sledgehammers in China. Yep, we've seen that before.

The only thing different between the 2011 video and the new one added after the break is the car, as the Lamborghini Gallardo is now replaced by a Maserati Quattroporte. However, the reason for which the owner hired some...muscleto destroy the car is the same: poor servicing.

New HSV GEN-F Range Includes Australia's Fastest Production Car Ever

Posted: 15 May 2013 01:16 PM PDT

The presentation of the redesigned 2014 Holden Commodore VF Series (offered as the new Chevrolet SS in the States) earlier this year has been followed up with the release of the Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) flavored editions of the car known as the GEN-F range.

HSV touts the GEN-F as one of its most important updates ever as it features "the most significant exterior styling makeover since E-series" and includes the most powerful performance production car ever built in Australia, a country known for its muscles cars, the 577hp (585PS / 430kW) GTS. Unfortunately, it may also be the last of its kind as GM is considering a front-wheel drive replacement for the next Commodore due in 2017.

Mercedes-Benz Lifts the Covers Off the All-New 2014 S-Class Sedan

Posted: 15 May 2013 12:37 PM PDT

Take a moment and scroll down to see all of the photos of the all-new Mercedes-Benz S-Class, so that you can more clearly put into perspective what you will read here. This car will influence the luxury sector starting now and until it is replaced by an all-new model somewhere around the year 2020 (wonder what that's going to be like?).

As you're probably expecting, it's packed with electronic gadgets, one more useful than the next. It's all very safe, green and innovative, while also being wrapped in one of the prettiest bodies Mercedes has made in a while.

The restrained design is backed up by excellent proportions, which are emphasized by the deep side creases. It is a very different car than the one it replaces, but since it must also bridge the gap left in the lineup after Mercedes gave up on Maybach, it feels even more premium than the outgoing model that is still considered a class leader in many respects even today, despite being an 8-year-old model.

So what does the new S-Class bring to the segment? Well, aside from the headlights (full-LED with 56 diodes each), which have an odd shape, we say it's design is quite successful and very modern - its sleek profile grants it another advantage in making it the most aerodynamically-efficient S-Class ever (Cd 0.24).

Paul Gardener (pictured on the left) and Chad Leakey (right) were apprehended on Saturday after the two geniuses attempted to break into an unmarked police car, in which at the time, there were two officers…sitting inside!

Sony Releases New Video, Likely Teasing New Gran Turismo 6 Game

Posted: 15 May 2013 09:48 AM PDT

If you like racing by using a controller with lots of buttons instead of a real steering wheel, you will definitely have heard about the Gran Turismo franchise, the single reason why many racing/driving simulator fans bought Sony's PlayStation over the years.

The first game came out in 1997, it alone taking five years to develop and polish - the series is at number 5 now, and with its huge variety of cars (1,086 in total) and events, it has attracted a following of its own since its 2010 release.

Volvo Releases Video Teasers for Mystery World Premiere, but What is it?

Posted: 15 May 2013 07:59 AM PDT

Volvo's current lineup of models is satisfactory, especially after they added the V40 to the range, but by dropping of the C30 three-door hatch and S40 sedan, they could never compete with their German rivals in terms of diversity.

They need new models, and the two teaser videos posted below may be preparing us for just that. However, they are so ambiguous that they may very well be announcing a new sponsorship for their yachting effort, and we'd be none the wiser…

Posted: 15 May 2013 06:26 AM PDT

Being a school bus driver or an aide these days isn't as easy or as stress-free as it sounds. It hasn't been that long since we told you about the story of the…"real life Lil' Monsters" from Greece, New York, who bullied an elderly bus attendant to tears last June, and now, we have another head-scratching and evidently, thought-provoking incident, this time from Upper Darby Township in Delaware County, Pennsylvania.

A young man who we come to know under his YouTube alias "MrEverydays" was on board a school bus in the area when a group of young children, reportedly aged from 7 to 13 years old, went out of control, swearing like desperate sailors and with one of them, even pushing the bus attendant.

Tesla Model S Reportedly Outsold Mercedes S-Class the U.S. in the First Quarter

Posted: 15 May 2013 04:44 AM PDT

The Tesla Model S is undeniably one of the stars of the electric car segment, but it is also marketed as a luxury car. So, while people expect it to sell well for an EV, when it comes to luxury cars, the competition is so tough than many don't give the Model S a chance.

Well, it looks like they were wrong, as Tesla's electric sedan - priced from $70,000 (€53,960) - has outsold the benchmark of the luxury segment, and the soon-to-be-replaced, Mercedes-Benz S-Class. It happened in the U.S. in the first quarter of this year, with Tesla selling 4,750 Model S sedans. Mercedes-Benz sold 3,077 S-Class vehicles, BMW delivered 2,338 7-Series sedans and Audi sold 1,462 A8 models.
