Nissan Patrol Driver Makes a Fool of Himself Trying to Cross Road During a Rally

Posted: 08 May 2013 06:20 PM PDT

Trying to climb over a ditch with an SUV and cross a road on which a rally is being staged and racecars are flying through at high speeds, isn't a wise idea in itself. Doing so only to end up falling into the ditch across the other side of the road is worthy of at least 10 continuous facepalms…

The gifted driver was behind the wheel of an off-road-prepped Nissan Patrol, with the incident taking place during the Rally Prešov 2013 in eastern Slovakia.

Spied: 2014 Mazda3 Hatchback Reveals Interior in New Shots

Posted: 08 May 2013 05:20 PM PDT

The Mazda6 will soon give birth (figuratively speaking, of course, but you get our point) to the all-new 2014 Mazda3 Hatch, which could arrive on North American shores as early as this fall, according to a trio of talkative U.S.-based Mazda dealers, and in Europe, possibly early next year. If true, look for the new model at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Back to our scoop story, our man with the long lens caught up with Mazda's more stylish replacement to the current, second generation 3, while traveling/testing incognito on a street in Germany.

There's no denying that the sharper lines of the Golf-rivaling hatch exterior are a follow up to the well-received design of the new Mazda6 series – for a better look at what the production model will look like, do check Carscoops' rendering here.

While the driver was waiting in line for the red light, our spies were also able to take pictures of the interior, which we get to see for the very first time.

Watch Comparo Between the Scion FRS, Mazda RX-8 and Honda S2000 - Which One Do You Like?

Posted: 08 May 2013 05:13 PM PDT

Our obsession with everything new and cutting-edge is a very damaging one, simply because it limits our horizon in so many ways. For instance, why would you buy a Toyota GT86/Subaru BRZ/Scion FRS when there are two perfectly good (older) sports cars that share all the right ingredients – front engine, rear wheel drive and excellent dynamics?

The two models I'm talking about are the smooth Mazda RX-8 (find out all you need to know about it here) and the screaming Honda S2000, which is my personal favorite, because I still think it looks good and sounds even better. All three cars were pitted against one another by Everyday Driver, and in the end a winner was chosen.

C&D Gets Fresh Info on New BMW M-Cars from Company Boss Friedrich Nitschke

Posted: 08 May 2013 03:32 PM PDT

BMW has been forced to adapt its Motorsport division to the changing times, and while they may have been able to give us a five-liter V10-powered M5 in the past, the future holds nothing of the sort in store.

Actually, they may even use BMW's new 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine as the base for a performance engine, as according to M division boss Friedrich Nitschke, they are now able to extract 185 to 200 hp per liter through turbocharging – a quick calculation hints at a theoretical output of around 300 hp.

KTW Takes Care of Mercedes-Benz's "Luxury Load Donkey" in Brabus Style

Posted: 08 May 2013 03:09 PM PDT

We never cease to be entertained by certain translations of foreign manufacture press blurbs into the English language – well, at least when they're not considered racial slurs. In the case of German tuning brand KTW, it was their description of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class T-Model (Wagon in the U.S.): "the T-model of the E-class is a luxury load donkey".

While we're waiting for a representative of the "Equus africanus asinus" to respond to KTW's use of their family name, let's go ahead and see what the tuner has prepared for the German estate.

Not Much Remains After Ferrari F430 Crashes at Over 300 Km/h – 186mph

Posted: 08 May 2013 02:35 PM PDT

Tires are one of the main factors limiting a high-performance car's top speed. Even if you have the latest and best models, driving at high speed puts a lot of strain on them, and one could easily burst at any time.

We imagine that Ferrari owners are aware of the performance potential of their vehicle, particularly the newer cars they've been churning out, and they always have the best rubber on. Even so, things can go south in an instant, as 41 year-old Markus R. and his wife Angela, 39, found out on May 1.

New VW Amarok Power Pickup Concept in the Flesh

Posted: 08 May 2013 02:07 PM PDT

The first real life photos of one of Volkswagen's concept cars for the 2013 edition of the Wörthersee Tour fan-fest in Austria, the Amarok Power Pickup Truck, have landed on the digital world known as the internet.

We'll just go and say it that, from these images, the Amarok concept doesn't look as impressive or rather, aggressive, as the official sketches released on Tuesday suggested, which could possibly be explained by the less hunkered down ride of the real life model.

Just Another Day on Russian Roads: SUV Hauling Jet Fighter and Subaru Impreza

Posted: 08 May 2013 01:01 PM PDT

When they're not flying dangerously close to traffic, Russian fighter jets can sometimes be found in…traffic. No, seriously.

The lack of full-span wings leads us to believe that the airplane didn't…run out of fuel and that the driver of the blue SUV was not hauling it to a gas station but somewhere else – feel free to tell us what you think he plans to do with it.

Atmospheric CO2 Levels Surpass Symbolic Threshold of 400 PPM

Posted: 08 May 2013 10:09 AM PDT

The question of what is causing the temperature of the Earth to rise is a very tricky one, and you'll probably get as many answers as there are knowledgeable and informed people – everybody thinks they are right.

Some correlate the heating up of the planet with the high level of CO2 in the atmosphere, and the depletion of the ozone layer, which lets more of the Sun's radiation seep through and down to ground level.

Ferrari CEO Wants the Brand to Become More Exclusive and Focus Less on Growing Sales

Posted: 08 May 2013 08:32 AM PDT

Ferrari's range today is larger than ever, with the Maranello plant making no less than five six: the California, 458 Italia, 458 Spider, F12 Berlinetta, FF and soon, the range-topping LaFerrari.

The Italian carmaker sold 7,318 cars last year, a record for the company and 50 percent more than in 1991, when Luca di Montezemolo became Ferrari CEO. However, there's a thin balance between sales and exclusiveness, and Ferrari's boss certainly knows it.
