Future Cars: Peeling Back the Camo on BMW's New i8 Hybrid Coupe

Posted: 07 May 2013 07:08 PM PDT

Normally, when one mentions any reference to the word "Hybrid", shudders and torturous visuals of older generation Toyota Prii (plural of Prius) come to mind; and for myself especially, it's like a panic attack of automotive question marks combined with a dose of sore eyes.

Fortunately, the world moves on, as does that of the hybrid propelled automobile. Today, manufacturers such as Ferrari, McLaren and Porsche have joined the game with their hyper-offerings; all of which dispel the notion that hybrids have to resemble awkwardly styled hatchbacks (and yes Honda Insight, that was a jab at you too). So, not wanting be left out of the race, BMW have joined the fray with their i8 Hybrid Coupe entrant.

Woman Chased by Cops Calls 911 to Ask Trooper to "Get Off Her Back"

Posted: 07 May 2013 05:53 PM PDT

Well, here's one we haven't heard before. A 44-year old woman from Salt Lake County was engaged in a police chase after she refused to pull over for speeding and illegally using the emergency lane to bypass traffic. What makes this story colorful is that the woman, later on identified as Lisa Ann Bluth, called 911 and asked the dispatcher "that the trooper get off her back"!

According to KSL News, when the Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) called her back and told her that she should pull over, she told the dispatcher that she was not required to do so and that the cops had stolen her previous car and taken her blood.

GM Looking to…Annoy Buyers with Inclusion of Ads Into Future Iterations of MyLink

Posted: 07 May 2013 05:20 PM PDT

The future is coming, at an increasingly alert pace. I used to frown upon ads on the sites I visited, and then I got used to it and accepted them as a source of revenue and a way for the internet to keep going on – a necessary evil, if you will.

Next, we had video ads, which made us wait 15 to 30 seconds for the start of our desired collection of moving pictures. Now, General Motors is looking to include ads into future versions of their internet-enabled MyLink infotainment system and "earn $20 from each customer who signs up for the Internet service," according to a report from Reuters.

Posted: 07 May 2013 02:42 PM PDT

When Kia announced the death of the Sedona minivan last spring stating that it would come back to the segment in 2013 with a new model, this wasn't what we were expecting, and by that, we mean the return of the same generation model with some barely noticeable tweaks here and there.

The only logical explanation is that the South Korean carmaker pushed back its plans for a successor to the series for an undisclosed reason.

The Chrysler 300 SRT8 is a cut-price alternative to the German super saloons. It gets unique styling, a beefy V8 engine, stiffer than normal suspension and big brakes. The result, according to most reviews I've seen, is not quite up there with the best of the breed, but it is still comfortable and with its 6.4-liter 470 hp Hemi V8, it's fast enough and sounds great. Skoda's target is to increase sales from just under a million last year to 1.5 million by 2018, when the VW Group wants to become the world's largest carmaker.

A second SUV is seen as vital for the success of the brand's growth plan. While the Yeti is a successful model, the Czech carmaker believes there's room for another, larger SUV. Although there are no details about the new SUV, it would likely be based on VW's good-for-all MQB architecture.
